The field of Neural Machine Translation (NMT) has shown impressive performance for quick and easy communication in various languages spoken all over the world. NMT helps us by improving communication between different languages. For this purpose, different sequential models are used such as Recurrent Neural Network (RNN), Long Short Term Memory (LSTM), and Gated Recurrent Units (GRU). Analysis among these different models are important for making language translation better and choose the best model for the right job. This research investigates the performance of these models on two distinct language datasets, English-to-German and English-to-Urdu. Based on accuracy metrics, the findings reveal that GRU having test accuracy (88.22% ) outperforms RNN (87.21% ), and LSTM (85.70% )demonstrating the highest translation accuracy, followed by RNN and LSTM exhibiting comparatively lower accuracy levels.

This article is devoted to the research and development of innovative two-factor authentication (2FA) methods using neural networks. 2FA plays a key role in ensuring the security of data and accounts in the modern digital world, and the use of neural networks opens up new prospects in strengthening protection and improving the user experience. The article presents an analysis of existing 2FA methods, identifies their limitations, and discusses the advantages of using neural networks in this area. The main focus is on the development of new authentication algorithms based on deep learning, providing effective anomaly detection and support for a dynamic adaptive approach. In the context of the article, the issues of privacy and data security are also considered, as well as the possibilities of applying the developed methods in various fields, including finance, medicine and the Internet of Things. Accurate and efficient 3D object detection in LiDAR point cloud is critical for autonomous driving. In this paper, we provide a solution for LiDAR-only detection which employs voxel features and a sparse convolution network. Specifically, we utilized voxel centers to encode point clouds' voxel features. Then, combining the sparse convolution method, we leveraged residual learning to design the backbone network. The detector output predicted results for multi-category and multi-object detection. Our method was evaluated on three popular and challenging datasets (KITTI, nuScence and Waymo). Experimental results demonstrated that the accuracy and speed (27.8 FPS) of our model could effectively support object detection for autonomous driving in various scenarios. © 2022 IEEE.

科学正在进入一个新时代——第五范式——它被认为是知识整合到不同领域的主要特征,是基于无所不在的机器学习系统的计算社区中智能驱动的工作。在此,我们通过在天河一号超级计算机系统上构建的催化材料专门设计的典型平台案例,生动地阐明了第五范式的本质,旨在促进第五范式在其他领域的培养。第五范式平台主要包括模型自动构建(原始数据提取)、指纹自动构建(神经网络特征选择)以及跨学科知识串联的重复迭代(“火山图”)。与分解一起进行的是对迭代中实现的体系结构的性能评估。通过讨论,第五范式的智能驱动平台可以极大地简化和改进研究中极其繁琐和具有挑战性的工作,并通过补偿机器学习中缺少样本和替代一些由于计算资源不足而导致的数值计算来实现数值计算与机器学习之间的相互反馈,从而加速探索过程。在数据驱动的学科中,跨学科专家的协同作用和对动态数据需求的急剧增长仍然是一个挑战。我们相信,对第五范式平台的一瞥可以为其在其他领域的应用铺平道路。

In the field of heterogeneous federated learning (FL), the key challenge is to efficiently and collaboratively train models across multiple clients with different data distributions, model structures, task objectives, computational capabilities, and communication resources. This diversity leads to significant heterogeneity, which increases the complexity of model training. In this paper, we first outline the basic concepts of heterogeneous FL and summarize the research challenges in FL in terms of five aspects: data, model, task, device and communication. In addition, we explore how existing state-of-the-art approaches cope with the heterogeneity of FL, and categorize and review these approaches at three different levels: data-level, model-level, and architecture-level. Subsequently, the paper extensively discusses privacy-preserving strategies in heterogeneous FL environments. Finally, the paper discusses current open issues and directions for future research, aiming to promote the further development of heterogeneous FL. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. To reduce potential threats to public health and economic losses, water distribution systems, which are critical parts of industrial control systems, require accurate and effective anomaly detection. The successful incorporation of machine learning models into anomaly detection procedures has been made possible by recent developments in computer science. In this research, a hybrid CNN-LSTM framework for anomaly detection in water distribution systems is presented using Python programming language in the JupyterLab environment. The performance of the proposed CNN-LSTM network model is carefully evaluated on the publicly available WADI dataset, which contains several types of attacks for a water distribution testbed, using a statistical window-based anomaly detection approach. The experimental results show acceptable precision, recall and F1 scores of 0.8619, 0.7041, and 0.775, respectively, demonstrating the efficiency of the framework in detecting anomalies in the water distribution system.

In the context of addressing the problem of people who do not undergo a diagnosis of heart failure due to pulmonary conditions on time, a solution to this problem would allow early preventive detection to avoid the development of severe disease efficiently. Our approach employs the use of medical data retrieved from the user to determine and predict whether there is a likelihood of a potential condition. To solve this problem, according to a users medical measurement history, a deep learning model can be implemented to determine a preventive diagnosis or otherwise to follow up on an already detected condition. By posing the problem as a classification task, it can be taken advantage of a deep learning model focused on heart failure or pulmonary conditions to make a preliminary diagnosis and determine if there are signs of any symptomatology.

Smart homes (SHs) and smart buildings (SBs) play a crucial role in addressing global urbanization and are key elements of smart cities (SCs). They utilize integrated systems to process large volumes of data, enabling intelligent responses and improved quality of life. However, the growing number of connected devices and increasing data demands have exceeded the capabilities of existing network technologies, reducing service effectiveness. This article provides a comprehensive survey of emerging technologies, especially those underexplored in SH and SB contexts. It highlights the potential of sixth-generation (6G) wireless networks and the Internet of Things (IoT) to transform smart indoor environments through greater automation, intelligence, and adaptability. The authors first analyze the limitations of current IoT-based systems and then examine advanced 6G technologies, including integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), machine learning (ML), visible light communication (VLC), reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS), and blockchain (BC). These technologies aim to resolve issues related to scalability, connectivity, and interoperability that challenge current IoT/5G models. Unlike previous studies focusing on narrow areas such as energy or security, this survey takes a holistic approach. It aligns 6G capabilities with SH/SB needs like human-device interaction, energy efficiency, and robust security, and introduces new applications such as AI-driven digital twins and edge intelligence. The article also identifies research gaps, including resource allocation in diverse networks and ethical AI deployment. It offers guidance for future research and urges collaboration, standardization, and human-centric design to enable next-generation intelligent living environments. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Human-computer interaction (HCI) is an evolving field of research that focuses on understanding and improving the communication and interaction between humans and computers. Over the past decades, we have seen many significant advances in this field, which have contributed to the widespread adoption and integration of technology into our daily lives. HCI research and development aims to design information technology systems to meet the needs and preferences of users. Usability, efficiency, accessibility and user satisfaction are important considerations in HCI design. This paper presents the results of a pilot study on user acceptance of HCIs. The results show that users are positive about and willing to use HCIs.

Cross-domain recommendation (CDR) offers a promising solution to the data sparsity problem by enabling knowledge transfer across source and target domains. However, many recent CDR models overlook crucial issues such as privacy as well as the risk of negative transfer (which negatively impact model performance), especially in multi-domain settings. To address these challenges, we propose FedGCDR, a novel federated graph learning framework that securely and effectively leverages positive knowledge from multiple source domains. First, we design a positive knowledge transfer module that ensures privacy during inter-domain knowledge transmission. This module employs differential privacy-based knowledge extraction combined with a feature mapping mechanism, transforming source domain embeddings from federated graph attention networks into reliable domain knowledge. Second, we design a knowledge activation module to filter out potential harmful or conflicting knowledge from source domains, addressing the issues of negative transfer. This module enhances target domain training by expanding the graph of the target domain to generate reliable domain attentions and fine-tunes the target model for improved negative knowledge filtering and more accurate predictions. We conduct extensive experiments on 16 popular domains of the Amazon dataset, demonstrating that FedGCDR significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods. © 2024, CC BY.
