To bridge the digital barrier between those with disabilities and those without impairments, several applications can be operated by brain signals. It highlights the importance of employing brain-computer interfaces (BCI) and mentions a specific system called the "Brain-Controlled computer System" that can control a computer cursor and perform mouse actions using brain signals.. The system can control the cursor and provide mouse left/right click with brain signals using a low-cost Brainlink Lite device. Based on this system, we employed machine learning and deep learning methodologies to develop a system that classifies brain signals for cursor movement. The methodology involved gathering user input through surveys, interviews, and comparison studies, as well as utilizing pre-developed datasets collected using a mind sensor. We initially trained a model on a previous dataset, achieving approximately 70% accuracy. However, when applied to the new dataset, the accuracy dropped to 49%. To improve the results, we experimented with more complex models, including additional layers and a dropout layer to prevent overfitting. Despite these enhancements, the accuracy only reached a maximum of 52%. The research team collected a dataset tailored to their specific application. They made a groundbreaking discovery by applying a convolutional neural network (CNN), typically used for image analysis, to process continuous brainwave data. Despite this non-standard use, their hypothesis proved correct, with the CNN model achieving an impressive 80% accuracy in classifying brain signals for controlling a cursor. © 2024 The Authors. With serverless computing offering more efficient and cost-effective application deployment, the diversity of serverless platforms presents challenges to users, including platform lock-in and costly migration. Moreover, due to the black box nature of function computing, traditional performance benchmarking methods are not applicable, necessitating new studies. This article presents a detailed comparison of six major public cloud function computing platforms and introduces a benchmarking framework for function computing performance. This framework aims to help users make comprehensive comparisons and select the most suitable platform for their specific needs. © 2023 IEEE.

Building trust between consumers and service providers is critical to the functioning of cloud computing, a technology that offers a range of services over the Internet. When consumers choose which cloud services to utilise for processing and storing sensitive data, trust values are a major factor. In addition, service providers can employ trust values as a means of granting access to resources, protecting against malevolent users. The subjective trust model category, which evaluates trust based on user and service provider behaviour, is the one that this research suggests for trust models. Because trust is intrinsically ambiguous in our method, trust levels for cloud consumers and service providers are calculated using fuzzy logic and support vector machines. Using triangle membership functions for defuzzification and Gauss membership functions for fuzzification, we use the Mamdani fuzzy approach. In order to determine how trustworthy a resource is, our paradigm for evaluating trust takes performance and flexibility into account. Performance evaluation includes measurements related to workload and reaction time, whereas elasticity evaluation takes into account elements like scalability, availability, security, and usability. We apply fuzzy C-means clustering on pertinent criteria to establish trust levels for users, including faulty requests, fake requests, unauthorised requests, and total requests. © 2024 IEEE.

Current service robots without learning ability are not qualified for many complex tasks. Therefore, it is very significant to decompose the complex task into repeatable execution unit. In this paper, we propose a complex task representation method based on dynamic motion primitives, and use hierarchical knowledge graph to represent the analytic results of complex tasks. To realize the execution of complex robot manipulation tasks, we decompose the semantic tasks into the minimum motion units that can be executed by the robot and combine the multi-modal information: posture, force and robot joint parameters, obtained by the sensors. We use the knowledge graph to record the end-effector required by the robot to perform different tasks and make appropriate selection of end-effector according to different needs. Finally, Taking the long sequence complex task of service scene as an example, we use UR5 robot to verify the effectiveness and feasibility of this design. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Beyond N-Grams: Enhancing String Kernels With Transformer-Guided Semantic Insights

The rapid advancements in large language models (LLMs) have led to the generation of sophisticated AI-produced texts, posing significant challenges in distinguishing machine-generated content from authentic human writing. This study presents a novel hybrid framework that effectively integrates string kernel approaches with deep contextual embeddings from state-of-the-art transformers for robust AI-generated text detection. We propose and evaluate four innovative kernel-based methods namely Attention-Augmented Kernel, Error Pattern Analysis, Transformer-Guided N-gram Selection, and a Custom Kernel Function each designed to uniquely capture semantic and structural distinctions of text. Extensive experiments conducted on eight diverse datasets comprising 2,501 total samples, featuring texts generated and enhanced by leading LLMs including GPT-3.5, GPT-4, DeepSeek, and KIMI, demonstrate superior performance of the proposed methods. Particularly, the Transformer-Guided N-gram Selection and the Custom Kernel Function consistently outperform baseline models, achieving near-perfect detection accuracy with significantly reduced computational complexity. Comprehensive hyperparameter optimization further solidifies our methods’ effectiveness and practical applicability. The publicly available datasets and robust empirical evaluations contribute valuable benchmarks for future research. This work sets a new standard in AI-text detection methodologies, enhancing reliability, efficiency, and scalability for real-world applications.

In this work, we present an approach to supervisory reinforcement learning control for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). UAVs are dynamic systems where control decisions in response to disturbances in the environment have to be made in the order of milliseconds. We formulate a supervisory control architecture that interleaves with extant embedded control and demonstrates robustness to environmental disturbances in the form of adverse wind conditions. We run case studies with a Tarot T-18 Octorotor to demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach and compare it against a classic cascade control architecture used in most vehicles. While the results show the performance difference is marginal for nominal operations, substantial performance improvement is obtained with the supervisory RL approach under unseen wind conditions. © 2023, CC BY.

The Plasmodium parasite, which causes malaria, is an acute fever illness that infects people when a female Anopheles mosquito bites them. It is predicted that malaria would claim 619,000 lives in 2021, with 96% of those deaths occurring in the African continent. We can achieve this by using a microscope to examine thick and thin blood smears. The proficiency of a microscope examiner is crucial for doing microscopic examinations. Consider how time-consuming, ineffective, and costly it would be to examine thousands of malaria cases. Consequently, Creating an automated method for detecting malaria parasites is the aim of this study. We employ a MobileNetV2 pretrained model with CNN technology. Because it has been trained on dozens or even millions of data points, this pretrained model is incredibly light but dependable. There are two main benefits of automatic malaria parasite detection: firstly, it can offer a more accurate diagnosis, particularly in locations with limited resources; secondly, it lowers diagnostic expenses. The optimizer utilizes Adam Weight, the criteria uses NLLLoss, and the model is trained using 32 for batch_size. In the fourteenth epoch, we obtained the maximum accuracy score of 96.26% based on the training data. The outcomes of the predictions demonstrate how excellent this score is. EfficienceNet, DenseNet, AlexNet, and other pretrained models are among the alternatives that scientists are advised to try training with.

Reusing ROS components, specifically ROS Nodes, is crucial for improving the efficiency and quality of robotic software development. However, developers face challenges in finding the desired ROS Nodes for reuse due to scattered organization of ROS Nodes and the ambiguity in their ROS Node name. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a MUlti-feature SEmantic fusion method (MUSE) that leverages a domain-specific ROS knowledge graph for searching ROS Nodes. Firstly, a large dataset is constructed, comprising code files and textual descriptions related to ROS Nodes obtained from GitHub and ROS Wiki. Secondly, an in-depth analysis of user queries regarding the reuse of ROS Nodes is conducted, leading to the selection of multiple features that provide a comprehensive representation of ROS Node semantics, including Function, Hardware, Input, and Output. Subsequently, a knowledge graph of ROS Nodes is developed based on the dataset, incorporating the selected features. This knowledge graph effectively organizes scattered knowledge and resolves the issue of diverse mentions through entity disambiguation and resolution. To eliminate the semantic gap between the descriptions of features mentioned in user queries and the entities in the knowledge graph, a pretrained transformer-based model was used to measure the multi-feature semantic similarity between user queries and ROS Nodes knowledge. Finally, we employ a linear regression model to integrate the multi-feature knowledge between user queries and ROS Nodes knowledge. The proposed method has shown a 20% improvement in performance on NDCG@1 compared to other ROS Node search methods. Further evaluations highlight the effectiveness of each feature incorporated in the knowledge graph, as well as the significance of each parameter within the regression model. These findings underscore the robustness of this research in optimizing the reuse of ROS Nodes and facilitating the development of robotics software.

As a developing country, Sri Lanka needs to go along with cutting-edge technologies. In the beginning phase of this digital advertising, multiple advertisements were displayed on the users' feeds, including advertisements despite their preferences. This was a terrible user experience for the users. However, smart advertising based on customer preferences can manage the flow of advertisements on the feed as per the users' preferences. This same technique can be used in handling advertisements while shopping at supermarkets. These advertisements can be directed based on demographic characteristics like face and gender and previous customer transactions. Additionally, providing the nearest supermarket they can reach based on their current location. Queue management is the next most crucial facility that needs to be provided to a supermarket. However, the manual system of queue management is not effective. But with a modernized queue management system, overcrowded supermarkets can be managed effectively. This proposed system also considers providing a chatbot service to manage customer inquiries in a reliable strategy. In this system, we mainly used the Keras model called VGGFace for face detection, the Conventional Neural Network and Keras-based model for gender detection, the TensorFlow model called Single Shot MultiBox Detection MobileNet for queue and crowd detection, the Apriori algorithm base model for predicting the buying pattern, a Keras-based model for Artificial Intelligence chatbot and finally, google map Application Programming Interface for the nearest supermarket finding are models and technology. This system was developed to manage a supermarket properly. © 2022 IEEE.
