IOT based prediction of rainfall forecast in coastal regions using deep reinforcement model

This research proposes an IoT based technique for predicting rainfall forecast in coastal regions using a deep reinforcement learning model. The proposed technique utilizes Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks to capture the temporal dependencies between the rainfall data collected from the coastal regions and the prediction model parameters. The proposed technique is evaluated on a dataset of rainfall data collected from the coastal regions of India and compared to traditional methods of rainfall forecasting. The accuracy and reliability of these models are evaluated by comparing them to prior models. Precipitation in coastal locations may be predicted with an average accuracy of 89% using the suggested model, as shown by the results. The suggested framework is computationally efficient and can be trained with little input. The results of this research give strong evidence that the proposed model is an effective tool for coastal precipitation forecasting. © 2023 The Authors

Multi-label learning has received much attention due to its wide range of application domains. Multi-label data often has high-dimensional features, which brings more challenges to classification algorithms. Feature selection based on sparse learning is one of the most important approaches, which can select discriminative features to alleviate the curse of dimensionality. However, most of these methods do not consider feature redundancy and label correlation simultaneously. In this work, we propose a multi-label feature selection method that takes feature redundancy and label correlation into account. Specifically, the proposed method first divides features into groups according to feature correlation and then encourages competition within each group but relaxes competition between groups to eliminate redundant and irrelevant features. Moreover, we propose an approach to capture label correlation and exploit it to improve the feature selection. Finally, an iterative optimization algorithm is designed to obtain the feature weights for multi-label feature selection. Extensive experiments on various multi-label datasets demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method compared with some state-of-the-art multi-label feature selection methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

Zero-shot stance detection based on cross-domain feature enhancement by contrastive learning

Zero-shot stance detection is challenging because it requires detecting the stance of previously unseen targets in the inference phase. The ability to learn transferable target-invariant features is critical for zero-shot stance detection. In this work, we propose a stance detection approach that can efficiently adapt to unseen targets, the core of which is to capture target-invariant syntactic expression patterns as transferable knowledge. Specifically, we first augment the data by masking the topic words of sentences, and then feed the augmented data to an unsupervised contrastive learning module to capture transferable features. Then, to fit a specific target, we encode the raw texts as target-specific features. Finally, we adopt an attention mechanism, which combines syntactic expression patterns with target-specific features to obtain enhanced features for predicting previously unseen targets. Experiments demonstrate that our model outperforms competitive baselines on four benchmark datasets. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Speech signal processing is a cornerstone of modern communication technologies, tasked with improving the clarity and comprehensibility of audio data in noisy environments. The primary challenge in this field is the effective separation and recognition of speech from background noise, crucial for applications ranging from voice-activated assistants to automated transcription services. The quality of speech recognition directly impacts user experience and accessibility in technology-driven communication. This review paper explores advanced clustering techniques, particularly focusing on the Kernel Fuzzy C-Means (KFCM) method, to address these challenges. Our findings indicate that KFCM, compared to traditional methods like K-Means (KM) and Fuzzy C-Means (FCM), provides superior performance in handling nonlinear and non-stationary noise conditions in speech signals. The most notable outcome of this review is the adaptability of KFCM to various noisy environments, making it a robust choice for speech enhancement applications. Additionally, the paper identifies gaps in current methodologies, such as the need for more dynamic clustering algorithms that can adapt in real time to changing noise conditions without compromising speech recognition quality. Key contributions include a detailed comparative analysis of current clustering algorithms and suggestions for further integrating hybrid models that combine KFCM with neural networks to enhance speech recognition accuracy. Through this review, we advocate for a shift towards more sophisticated, adaptive clustering techniques that can significantly improve speech enhancement and pave the way for more resilient speech processing systems. © 2024, CC BY.

Poetry is a form of literature that conveys feelings using different styles, aesthetics, and rhythms. The Bengali language has an enriched collection of poems. Every poet has an individual style of expressing their thoughts and emotions. However, stylometric research in this branch of the Bengali language is still in its early stage of development. In this paper, we have presented a stylometric dataset, which has 6,070 poems of 137 poets stored in the textual format. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first stylometric dataset for Bengali poems which will add an extra dimension to the expanding research arena of the Bengali language. To explore the usability of this dataset, we developed poem genre classifiers using deep learning that can classify these poems. Performance analysis of some deep learning classifiers has been presented in addition to classification. The classifiers include GRU and CNN. Among these two, GRU showed better performance by 91.48 in terms of the F1-score. In today's rapidly evolving technological landscape, ensuring the security of systems requires continuous authentication over sessions and comprehensive access management during user interaction with a device. With the increasing use of smartphones and Internet of Things (IoT) devices, Split Learning (SL) and Federated Learning (FL) have emerged as promising technologies that can tackle the authentication problem while protecting the user's private data. The SL distributed technology enables users with limited resources to complete neural network model training with server assistance, lessening the computational burden from the client side. In addition, FL aims to combine knowledge between different nodes collaboratively. The privacy and security of the user's data are ensured in both approaches, as only the models' weights are shared with a server. This study employs a cluster-based approach using split learning and federated learning techniques to improve the efficiency and robustness of training Machine Learning (ML) models. We compare the approaches' performance to baseline methods and demonstrate their advantages using the UMDAA-02-FD face detection and MNIST datasets. Our findings show that combining both technologies achieves high accuracy in continuous authentication scenarios while maintaining user privacy. These results highlight the importance of SL and FL in cybersecurity, enabling continuous authentication and demonstrating their potential to revolutionize how we address security. © 2023 IEEE.

In an era of heightened digital interconnectedness, businesses increasingly rely on third-party vendors to enhance their operational capabilities. However, this growing dependency introduces significant security risks, making it crucial to develop a robust framework to mitigate potential vulnerabilities. This paper proposes a comprehensive secure framework for managing third-party vendor risk, integrating blockchain technology to ensure transparency, traceability, and immutability in vendor assessments and interactions. By leveraging blockchain, the framework enhances the integrity of vendor security audits, ensuring that vendor assessments remain up-to-date and tamperproof. This proposed framework leverages smart contracts to reduce human error while ensuring real-time monitoring of compliance and security controls. By evaluating critical security controls—such as data encryption, access control mechanisms, multi-factor authentication, and zero-trust architecture—this approach strengthens an organization’s defense against emerging cyber threats. Additionally, continuous monitoring enabled by blockchain ensures the immutability and transparency of vendor compliance processes. In this paper, a case study on iHealth’s transition to AWS Cloud demonstrates the practical implementation of the framework, showing a significant reduction in vulnerabilities and marked improvement in incident response times. Through the adoption of this blockchain-enabled approach, organizations can mitigate vendor risks, streamline compliance, and enhance their overall security posture. Our findings highlight the importance of employing blockchain to enforce security controls and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.
