Pen tilt is an additional input from digital pens, which indicates the posture information of holding a pen. In this study we couple tilt input with user interactions and explore its potential of improving user interactions. We first investigate human ability of users' controlling pen tilt in pen-based interactions. Based on the understanding of human ability of controlling this input modality we then design three novel interactive techniques employing tilt as control parameter: Tilt Zoom Cursor, Tilt Scroll and Tilt Marking Menu.

This study empirically explores a cube-shape tool based on computer vision, focusing on the properties of its input modalities and design space. By tracking the fiducial marker on each side of the cube in real-time, basic operations such as flipping, rotating and tilting can produce various input modalities. We present the results of an experiment that investigate the use of these input modalities to perform a set of experimental tasks. In the experiment we design a discrete angle selection task, varying the angle position and interval. Based on the experimental results, we discuss implications for the design of cube-based interaction techniques.

The focus of the software development technology based on components is the identification and assembly of components. The formalized descriptions of the component, including data and computing descriptions, are studied using the theory and method of category. The focus is the unified description of component computing (i.e. component function). The unified description of the component in a certain domain is studied by many different methods: (1) The model of the component data is constructed using the partial order category theory. (2) The component computing is presented by the morphism. (3) The component computing is described using category theories (e.g. limit, nature transformation). The goal is to establish the unified description system of components based on the category theory. Discussions are also presented to stress its importance in the automatic identification and assembly of the component.

Statistics of science and technology is not only a daily task of technology sector, but also an important reference for government decision. How it is possible to deal statistics data by computer system automatically? It is a goal for information system specialists and scientific and technical workers. We studied many documentations and reports of statistics for science and technology in Kunming and other province. So we provided a knowledge base of statistics based categories theory and ontology, and found the computing principle on the knowledge base. Our innovation is the way to build the knowledge base for statistics of science and technology which can accommodate all the statistics information of concepts and specification and design and perform strategies people desired. Multiview image registration is widely used in computer vision applications. In this paper, an approach for multiview 3D image registration based on augmented Kalman filter is proposed by taking account of various uncertainties. The position and orientation of viewpoint are considered as system state. System augmentation model and system observation model are constructed. The position and orientation of each viewpoint is augmented and updated recursively. The global transformation parameters of image are computed with the state estimation of corresponding viewpoint. The proposed multiview image registration method can handle the uncertainty efficiently and the registration result is accurate and globally consistent. Some experimental results are provided to validate the performance of the proposed method.

This paper presents an improved SIFT (Simplified Inverse Filtering Technique) method for accurate pith estimation. In order to save computing time as well as ensuring the precision of autocorrelation, different re-sampling ratios are utilized during the process of LPC (Linear Predictive Coding) coefficients analysis and inverse filtering respectively; Furthermore, for the sake to satisfy the range and accuracy of pitch frequency simultaneously, Hamming-weighting is adopted for searching the reliable peak value on the autocorrelation curves, and a four-point non-linear pitch-smoothing algorithm is designed to avoid incoherent errors for an example in transient speech frames. Finally, the smoothed pitch contour is extracted and time-normalized pitch frequencies are calculated, which can then be used as the feature of a speech utterance in speech recognition or speaker recognition systems. Further Experiments show that the present method for pitch estimation of speech has good performance.
