This paper presents a new at-speed logic built-in self-test (BIST) architecture supporting two launch-on-capture schemes, namely aligned double-capture and staggered double-capture, for testing multi-frequency synchronous and asynchronous clock domains in a scan-based BIST design. The proposed architecture also includes BIST debug and diagnosis circuitry to help locate BIST failures. The aligned scheme detects and allows diagnosis of structural and delay faults among all synchronous clock domains, whereas the staggered scheme detects and allows diagnosis of structural and delay faults among all asynchronous clock domains. Both schemes solve the long-standing problem of using the conventional one-hot scheme, which requires testing each clock domain one at a time, or the simultaneous scheme, which requires adding isolation logic to normal functional paths across interacting clock domains. Physical implementation is easily achieved by the proposed solution due to the use of a slow-speed, global scan enable signal and reduced timing-critical design requirements. Application results for industrial designs demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed architecture. © 2010 IEEE.

Multi-hop wireless networks (MWNs) are rapidly gaining attention, because they can provide a wide coverage area to Internet users. To provide stable and high-performance network environments, security issues must be addressed. This paper focuses on the security issues in terms of anomalous relay nodes inside networks because their malicious behaviors can degrade the performance of MWNs. To maintain the network performance of MWNs, we propose a novel network reconfiguration scheme that each node reconstructs a network autonomously using the I/F of the neighbor nodes linked to a misbehaving node. Our proposed scheme reconfigurates topology with an emphasis on the reuse of I/F, the number of the links required to construct, transmission rates, performance anomaly, and network connectivity. We evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed schemes by simulations. The results of simulation indicate that the proposed scheme can prevent the communication performance degradation of the entire MWN.

This paper studies some fundamental properties on signal propagation in one-dimensional cellular neural networks with the antisymmetric template under the assumption that the initial output has only one connected component. A new sufficient condition for the component to propagate without attenuation is derived through theoretical analysis. It is also proved that under the same condition the final output is a black-and-white image having only one black at the right-most pixel, which means that the network can perform connected component detection when the input image has only one connected component.

Solving the deterministic unit commitment (UC) model may yield the optimal commitment for each unit for a certain condition of the power system. Changing the system condition due to a sudden change or uncertainties may render the obtained solution infeasible or inapplicable to the system under study. This paper presents a fuzzy model to handle uncertainties associated with the UC problem and introduces a methodology based on the Ant Colony Search Algorithm (ACSA) to find a near-optimal solution to the problem. The ACSA is a meta-heuristic technique for solving hard combinatorial optimization problems, a class of problems which the UC problem belongs to. The ACSA was inspired by the behavior of real ants that are capable of finding the shortest path from food sources to the nest without using visual cues. The proposed approach uses a fuzzy comparison technique and generates a fuzzy range of the cost that reflects problem uncertainties. Test results on a 10-unit system demonstrate the viability of the proposed technique to solve the UC problem considering uncertainties.

Moodle is an open source and one of the most popular learning management systems (LMS) currently. Developers can customize functionality and modules for educating purpose. When integrating with other systems, developers have to deal with the barrier that comes from Moodle servers with different version or other human resource system. Therefore it will be valuable for allowing teachers who are at different places to exchanging teaching materials. To solve these problems, a set of Course Communication services based on web service were built. With these services, developers can more easily build connection among Moodle servers and other kinds of systems. In addition, A Moodle module called OpenMoodle is also developed. With this module, instructors can exchange course materials and teach collaboratively with other educators and monitor student's learning status by holding course materials locally. In addition, students can acquire material from multiple resources.

Explicit finite element approximate inverse preconditioning methods have been extensively used for solving efficiently sparse linear systems on multiprocessor and multicomputer systems. New parallel computational techniques are proposed for the parallelization of explicit preconditioned biconjugate conjugate gradient type methods, based on Portable Operating System Interface for UniX (POSIX) Threads, for multicore systems. Parallelization is achieved by assigning every loop of the parallel explicit preconditioned bi-conjugate conjugate gradient-STAB (PEPBiCG-STAB) to the desired number of threads, thus achieving for-loop parallelization. Theoretical estimates on speedups and efficiency are also presented. Finally, numerical results for the performance of the PEPBiCG-STAB method for solving characteristic two dimensional boundary value problems on multicore computer systems are presented, which are favorably compared to corresponding results from multiprocessor systems. The implementation issues of the proposed method are also discussed using POSIX Threads on a multicore system.

The AAAI-10 workshop program was held on July 11-12, 2010, at the Westin Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta, Georgia. The workshop program included 13 workshops covering a wide range of topics in artificial intelligence. There were several presentations on particular formalisms for combining the levels of planning from the perspectives of classical planning, motion planning, POMDPs, search-based planning, and temporal logic-based constraints. Henry Lieberman from Massachusetts institute of technology Media Laboratory presented work developing a platform for knowledge acquisition and usage from expert users, built upon experience with eliciting information from nonexperts in a collaborative manner. The objective of the AAAI Workshop on Goal-Directed Autonomy (GDA) was to encourage discussion and novel contributions on intelligent agents that can self-select their goals. Jeremy Baxter from QinetiQ focused on user interaction, while Nick Hawes described a goal-directed reasoning framework for controlling a mobile robot.

An important issue in the analysis of two-dimensional electrophoresis images is the detection and quantification of protein spots. The main challenges in the segmentation of 2DGE images are to separate overlapping protein spots correctly and to find the abundance of weak protein spots. To enable comparison of protein patterns between different samples, it is necessary to match the patterns so that homologous spots are identified. In this paper we describe a new robust technique to segment and model the different spots present in the gels. The watershed segmentation algorithm is modified to handle the problem of over segmentation by initially partitioning the image to mosaic regions using the composition of fuzzy relations. The experimental results showed the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm to overcome the over segmentation problem associated with the available algorithms.

In this paper, we present the implementation and analysis of our implemented testbed considering the Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) protocol for Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET). We investigate the effect of mobility and topology changing in the throughput of MANETs. We study the impact of best-effort traffic for Mesh Topology. Experimental time is 150 seconds. In this work, we consider 6 experimental models and we assess the performance of our testbed in terms of throughput, round trip time and packet loss. From our experiments, we found that the OLSR protocol has a good performance when the source node is moving. However, the performance is not good when the three relay nodes are moving.
