This paper presents an efficient fuzzy cognitive modeling which can handle granulation, organisation and causation. This cognitive modeling technique consists of multiple levels where the lowest level includes details required to make a decision or to transfer to the next stage. This fuzzy cognitive modeling will enhance the usability of fuzzy theory in modeling complex systems as well as facilitating complex decision making process based on ill structured or missing information or data.

With this work we aim to make a three-fold contribution. We first address the issue of supporting efficiently queries over string-attributes involving prefix, suffix, containment, and equality operators in large-scale data networks. Our first design decision is to employ distributed hash tables (DHTs) for the data network's topology, harnessing their desirable properties. Our next design decision is to derive DHT-independent solutions, treating DHT as a black box. Second, we exploit this infrastructure to develop efficient content based publish/subscribe systems. The main contribution here are algorithms for the efficient processing of queries (subscriptions) and events (publications). Specifically, we show that our subscription processing algorithms require O(logN) messages for a N-node network, and our event processing algorithms require O(l × logN) messages (with l being the average string length). Third, we develop algorithms for optimizing the processing of multi-dimensional events, involving several string attributes. Further to our analysis, we provide simulation-based experiments showing promising performance results in terms of number of messages, required bandwidth, load balancing, and response times. In this paper we address the problem of estimating the number of stations in a wireless network. Under the assumption that each station can detect collisions, we show that it is possible to estimate the number station...

Wireless network communities face a number of difficulties due to lack of integration between network and community resources management. In this work, we present a novel solution and we outline the architecture, design and implementation of an intelligent web based management system for metropolitan area wireless network communities. The system supports multi-user and personalization features combined with wireless node configuration and monitoring, in a portal-like environment. Additionally to the software discussed, a test-bed implementation is presented to confirm platform and software robustness and cost-effectiveness of the proposed solutions. The overall environment is already operational for two years, while user and administrators' feedback has been incorporated into the system in a regular manner, Evaluation of the work has been performed in the online wireless network environment by computer and communication engineers and it strongly indicates that the proposed mechanism is both effective and efficient. Finally, future steps and enhancements are discussed.
Today, peer-to-peer (P2P) networks, e.g., filesharing networks like Gnutella, are specialised towards specific purposes. New P2P networks have to be created and installed to support new purposes. Furthermore, current ...

The challenge of the Semantic Web Mining technologies in the e-Learning domain can relate to the provision of personalized experiences for the users. Particularly, these applications can take into consideration the individual needs and requirements of learners. In this paper, we propose a framework for personalised e-Learning based on aggregate usage profiles and a domain ontology. We have distinguished two stages in the whole process, one of offline tasks that includes data preparation, ontology creation and usage mining and one of online tasks that concerns the production of recommendations.
