Modern society strives for simpler, more efficient, dependable, speedier, and more automated lifestyle. Existing vegetable cutters in the market have drawbacks such as high investment costs, additional manpower, and time consumption. Moreover, none of them provide the feature of cleaning, peeling, and cutting in a single machine. The veggies offered in the market have pesticides and chemicals, and many people, in their haste, do not wash them properly, endangering their health. To reduce human labor while also providing good health care, a solution to this problem is required. This paper offers a novel method for developing a vegetable cutter and chopper using an Android application and IoT devices. In addition, smart vegetable cutters clean, peel, and cut veggies all in one piece of equipment. This strategy will assist human society in reducing the amount of additional manpower needed and would save them time. © 2023 IEEE.

NonorthogonalMultiple Access(NOMA)is incorporated into the wireless network systems to achieve better connectivity,spectral and energy effectiveness,higher data transfer rate,and also obtain the high quality of services(QoS).In order to improve throughput and minimum latency,aMultivariate Renkonen Regressive Weighted Preference Bootstrap Aggregation based Nonorthogonal Multiple Access(MRRWPBA-NOMA)technique is introduced for network *** the downlink transmission,each mobile device’s resources and their characteristics like energy,bandwidth,and trust are *** by,the Weighted Preference Bootstrap Aggregation is applied to recognize the resource-efficient mobile devices for aware data transmission by constructing the different weak hypotheses i.e.,Multivariate Renkonen Regression *** on the classification,resource and trust-aware devices are selected for *** of the proposed MRRWPBA-NOMA technique and existing methods are carried out with different metrics such as data delivery ratio,throughput,latency,packet loss rate,and energy efficiency,signaling *** simulation results assessment indicates that the proposed MRRWPBA-NOMA outperforms well than the conventional methods.

Wind turbines are an important component of the global strategy for the transition to renewable energy sources and the fight against climate change. Their implementation contributes to sustainable development and to improving the ecological situation of the planet. Detecting and elimination of defects helps reduce the wear of the components and prevent premature failure. This can significantly extend the life of wind turbines, which is economically beneficial for owners and operators. The use of UAVs allows for minimizing the risks for personnel, as inspection and diagnosis of defects can be carried out without the need to lift people to great heights or stay in dangerous areas. This is especially important for turbines located in places of difficult access. The images taken by the UAV contain many extraneous objects and fuzzy data. Fuzzy logic allows you to create models for pattern recognition and object classification in images, taking into account uncertainty and variation in the data. This increases the accuracy and reliability of pattern recognition systems. This article proposes an image processing system to detect wind turbine defects, with a fuzzy system module that selects images from a video stream for further processing. © 2024 IEEE.

Sport action recognition is an interesting area in computer vision. Categorization of sport actions, representing difficult and complex body postures, is regarded as a fine-grained visual classification problem. The Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have attained enhanced performance over conventional feature descriptors in recognizing various sport activities. In general, though decent improvement has been gained using deep learning for sport action recognition, however, recognition of women’s sport activities is not widely explored. Even, no benchmark dataset depicting women’s sport action with sufficient variations is available yet for study. Hence, fine-grained image classification of diverse sport categories involving female/women athletics requires immediate research attention. To overcome this limitation, this paper proposes an image dataset comprising worldwide popular 50 sport categories of women players only. A simple deep learning model is proposed that extracts the high-level deep features using a backbone CNN. Then, these features are pooled from a collection of regular regions representing local discriminative information. The spatial pyramid pooling is applied for mining semantic information and enhancing feature aggregation for classification. The proposed method has achieved satisfactory performance on the Women Sports dataset using four standard backbone CNNs. Moreover, our method has achieved better accuracy on the Yoga-82 pose recognition dataset with a significant margin, e.g., 11.6% gain using ResNet-50 base CNN. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

In this paper, we study the intricate realm of digital twin synchronization and deployment in multi-access edge computing (MEC) networks, with the aim of optimizing and balancing the two performance metrics Age of Information (AoI) and energy efficiency. We jointly consider the problems of edge association, power allocation, and digital twin deployment. However, the inherent randomness of the problem presents a significant challenge in identifying an optimal solution. To address this, we first analyze the feasibility conditions of the optimization problem. We then examine a specific scenario involving a static channel and propose a cyclic scheduling scheme. This enables us to derive the sum AoI in closed form. As a result, the joint optimization problem of edge association and power control is solved optimally by finding a minimum weight perfect matching. Moreover, we examine the one-shot optimization problem in the contexts of both frequent digital twin migrations and fixed digital twin deployments, and propose an efficient online algorithm to address the general optimization problem. This algorithm effectively reduces system costs by balancing frequent migrations and fixed deployments. Numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed scheme in terms of low cost and high efficiency. © 2024 IEEE.

Fast reroute (FRR) mechanisms that can instantly handle network failures in the data plane are gaining attention in packet-switched networks. In FRR no notification messages are required as the nodes adjacent to the failure are prepared with a routing table such that the packets are re-routed only based on local information. However, designing the routing algorithm for FRR is challenging because the number of possible sets of failed network links and nodes can be extremely high, while the algorithm should keep track of which nodes are aware of the failure. In this paper, we propose a generic algorithmic framework that combines the benefits of Integer Linear Programming (ILP) and an effective approach from graph theory related to constructive graph characterization of k-connected graphs, i.e., edge splitting-off. We illustrate these benefits through arborescence design for FRR and show that (i) due to the ILP we have great flexibility in defining the routing problem, while (ii) the problem can still be solved very fast. We demonstrate through simulations that our framework outperforms state-of-the-art FRR mechanisms and provides better resilience with shorter paths in the arborescences. © 2023 IEEE.

In recent years, Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), as a highly contagious disease worldwide, poses a serious threat to public health. It is necessary to scientifically predict the development of the epidemic and to study and judge the situation of the epidemic. Based on the Susceptible-Exposed-Infectious-Recovered (SEIR) model, this paper divides the population according to infectivity and considers the impact of double groups on the spread of the new coronavirus COVID-19. In the propagation model, important factors such as the incubation period, average healing days, and recovery rate are introduced, and its stability is analyzed and simulated. In the end, the experimental results prove that the model is stable and can achieve the desired expected effect. The research results provide a theoretical basis for the accurate simulation of the spread of the epidemic in the population, and have important research value and practical significance for improving the prevention and control strategy of the epidemic. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In the modern era, technology has become an integral part of human life, particularly in image processing. This advanced technology is now applied to parking areas to identify vacant parking spaces. The application is designed to detect empty parking slots in real time using image data captured by a camera as input. The system then automatically scans for available parking spaces, displaying the results on the interface with green indicators for empty slots and red for occupied ones. The process involves several key stages, such as image pre-processing, image segmentation, and object detection. The system employs the Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) method to enhance its object detection capabilities. This system achieves a high accuracy rate of 94%under well-lit conditions. This novel technology optimizes parking management, providing an effective and dependable method to monitor parking availability in real time. © 2024 IEEE.

PPG signal is a valuable resource for continuous heart rate monitoring;however, this signal suffers from artifact movements, which is particularly relevant during physical exercise and makes this biomedical signal difficult to use for heart rate detection during those activities. The purpose of this study was to develop learning models to determine heart rate using data from wearables (PPG and acceleration signals) and dealing with noise during physical exercise. Learning models based on CNNs and LSTMs were developed to predict the heart rate. The PPG signal was combined with data from accelerometers trying to overcome the noise movement on the PPG signal. Two datasets were used on this work: the 2015 IEEE Signal Processing Cup (SPC) dataset was used for training and testing, and another dataset was used for validation of the learning model (PPG-DaLiA dataset). The predictions obtained by the learning model represented a mean average error of 7.033±5.376 bpm for the SCP dataset, while a mean average error of 9.520±8.443 bpm for the validation set. The use of acceleration data increases the performance of the learning models on the prediction of the heart rate, showing the benefits of using this source of data to overcome the noise movement problem on the PPG signal. The combination of PPG signal with acceleration data could allow the learning models to use more information regarding the motion artifacts that affect the PPG and improve performance on the physiological event detections, which will largely spread the use of wearables on the healthcare applications for continuous monitor the physiological state allowing early and accurate detection of pathological events. © 2023 IEEE.

Federated learning (FL) is widely used in edge-cloud collaborative training due to its distributed architecture and privacy-preserving properties without sharing local data. FLTrust, the most state-of-the-art FL defense method, is a federated learning defense system with trust guidance. However, we found that FLTrust is not very robust. Therefore, in the edge collaboration scenario, we mainly study the poisoning attack on the FLTrust defense system. Due to the aggregation rule, FLTrust, with trust guidance, the model updates of participants with a significant deviation from the root gradient direction will be eliminated, which makes the poisoning effect on the global model not obvious. To solve this problem, under the premise of not being deleted by the FLTrust aggregation rules, we construct malicious model updates that deviate from the trust gradient to the greatest extent to achieve model poisoning attacks. First, we utilize the rotation of high-dimensional vectors around axes to construct malicious vectors with fixed orientations. Second, the malicious vector is constructed by the gradient inversion method to achieve an efficient and fast attack. Finally, a method of optimizing random noise is used to construct a malicious vector with a fixed direction. Experimental results show that our attack method reduces the model accuracy by 20%, severely undermining the usability of the model. Attacks are also successful hundreds of times faster than the FLTrust adaptive attack method. © 2022 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.
