Defect detection is an important aspect of assessing the surface quality of screw products. A defective screw greatly affects the mechanism of screw product. Recently, unsupervised learning has been widely used for defect detection in industrial applications. In most cases, anomaly networks are unable to reconstruct abnormal images into satisfactory normal images, which results in poor defect detection performance. In this paper, a denoising autoencoder is used to enhance the capability of reconstructing defect screw images. By using this technique, the model can efficiently extract more features during reconstruction. Compared to the results without noise, the IoU can be increased by over 11%. The paper also develops an intelligent screw detection system for realistic industrial applications. Consequently, the proposed scheme is well suited to industrial defect detection scenarios since the models require only normal samples for training. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The essential criterion for developing an intelligent age-friendly environment is evaluating and monitoring the provision of services. Our research aims to allow the deployment of a broad range of digital healthcare solutions interconnected in an IoT network ecosystem. Through their interoperability, we will be able to cultivate age-friendly smart homes for older adults. Thus, we will enable interpreted living and wellbeing. The intelligent integrations of digital solutions will allow the acquisition and evaluation of health-related data. Standardization, interoperability and scalability of the integration will increase efficiency in healthcare, improving older adults’ Quality of Life (QoL). Also, interpreting their needs will allow key stakeholders to optimize the Quality of Service (QoS). The proposed Internet of Health (IoH) framework will encapsulate sustainable and affordable innovative solutions and their benefits for a comfortable, meaningful, and independent life in an intelligent environment. Organisations and users have been experiencing significant rises in cyberattacks and their severity, which means that they require a greater awareness and understanding of the anatomy of cyberattacks, to prevent and mitigate their effects. In analysing cyberattacks, there are a number of different approaches that may be used to assess their potential risks and effects. However, these are utilised in specific types of cyberattacks and their analysis, which means they cannot be applied in every situation or cyberattack. Moreover, several other factors may influence the decision to use these approaches, such as cost, complexity, skills and adaptability. As a result, continuous research to design and enhance these approaches is undertaken to produce a generic, cost-effective, easy and adaptable approach. This paper presents one such approach to assess the risk of cyberattacks utilising an attack tree and fuzzy logic. An attack tree is a systematic and illustrative method for describing an attack on a system and analysing its taxonomy and other aspects. Subsequently, the probability and risk of each leaf node in the attack tree are calculated using the proposed formulas. Finally, fuzzy logic enables decision making based on imprecise data and heuristics to obtain the overall risk of attack. This proposed approach comprises systematic steps to accomplish an assessment of any cyberattack and its associated risks in an uncomplicated and effective manner, enabling its prevention and mitigation to be determined. The paper illustrates an application of the proposed approach to assess the risk of an information theft attack on an organisation, which can then be utilised to assess the risk of other cyberattacks. © 2023 IEEE.

Open Social Innovation (OSI) is a new fast-growing discipline of Open Innovation that is mainly focused on tackling societal matters and challenges under the auspices of co-creation, collaboration, and co-working. This work presents a research study that analyses the state and potential of applying OSI at the European level by investigating the views of various European stakeholders coming from several countries and regions. As the contributors come from various and different organizations, regions and countries, questions arose, as to how all these participants could successfully co-create and perform in an OSI environment. The investigated methodology used a specially designed questionnaire to analyze and compare stakeholders’ performance and potential for applying OSI in their region. Evaluating the answers provides several insights into the participants’ nature, how their characteristics can be an asset or a deterrent for OSI implementation, and the similar issues and problems they faced. Suggestions and recommendations for the further adoption and promotion of OSI are discussed and concluded.

Uncertainty estimation in deep learning has emerged as a crucial area of research due to its significance in enhancing model reliability and decision-making in critical applications. This article explores various methods and applications of uncertainty estimation in deep learning, aiming to provide insights into its importance, methods, and potential impact. Through a comprehensive literature review and analysis, the study identifies key findings regarding the effectiveness, limitations, and ethical considerations associated with uncertainty estimation techniques. The results reveal the diverse range of methodologies employed, including Bayesian approaches, ensemble methods, and Monte Carlo sampling, each with its strengths and drawbacks. Furthermore, the article discusses the implications of uncertainty estimation in deep learning for fields such as healthcare, autonomous systems, and safety-critical domains. Electricity theft is a type of cyberattack posing significant risks to the security of smart grids. Semi-supervised outlier detection (SSOD) algorithms utilize normal power usage data to build detection models, enabling them to detect unknown electricity theft attacks. In this paper, we applied feature engineering and ensemble learning to improve the detection performance of SSOD algorithms. Specifically, we extracted 22 time-series and wavelet features from load profiles, which served as inputs for the seven popular SSOD algorithms investigated in this study. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed feature engineering greatly enhances the performance of SSOD algorithms to detect various false data injection (FDI) attacks. Furthermore, we constructed bagged ensemble models using the best-performing SSOD algorithm as the base model, with results indicating further improvements in detection performance compared to the base model alone.

As natural and manmade disasters grew in number, as a result the problem of how to quickly and effectively respond to disaster has become fresh. This is precisely the purpose of this research: Using IoT technologies and powerful data analysis techniques, to integrate them into existing disaster management systems. The beginning of the article contains a broadcasted statement to the effect that traditional methods are insufficient, and real-time data and preemptive response systems are needed. With the application of Internet of Things, an integrated system is proposed in which countless types of information such as weather conditions and seismic activity are gathered by sensors and actuators. Advanced machine learning algorithms and predictive modeling are used to analyze the gathered data. This allows us to make real-time decisions. The design and construction of an IoT-based disaster management system is the methodology behind the research. In particular, we will evaluate how effective it is at reducing response times and increasing overall resilience to disasters. The results show a high efficiency in response, which reflects the feasibility of the method. Finally, the paper discusses the problems encountered in implementing IoT and advanced data analysis of disaster risk and suggests future research avenues. There is no doubt that they will change the present disaster management practice forever. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper addresses the task of learning periodic information using deep neural networks to achieve real-time, environment-independent sound source localization. Previous papers showed phase data is the most significant cue in sound source localization tasks and the proposed vM-B DNN was validated to be able to handle such periodic information using on synthesized data. However, they haven't shown its effectiveness and robustness in realistic use cases. This paper introduces a more complex model based on residual networks and adapts vM-B activation function for convolutional layers for use cases that require real-time predictions in dynamically changing environments. © 2024 IEEE.

This one-day hybrid workshop builds on previous feminist CSCW workshops to explore feminist theoretical and methodological approaches that have provided us with useful tools to see things differently and make space for change. Since its inception over a decade ago, feminist HCI has progressed from the margins to mainstream HCI, with numerous references in the literature. Feminist HCI has also evolved to incorporate other critical HCI practices such as Queer HCI, participatory design, and speculative design. While feminist approaches have grown in popularity and become mainstream, it is getting more difficult to distinguish the feminist emancipatory core from other attempts of developing and improving society in various ways. In this workshop, we therefore want to revisit our feminist roots, where theory is a liberatory and creative practice, motivated by affect, curiosity, and wonder. From this standpoint, we consider which of our feminist tools can make a significant difference today, in a highly datafied world. The goal of this workshop is to;1) create an inventory of feminist theories and concepts that have had an impact on our work as designers, educators, researchers, and activists;2) develop a feminist toolbox for the CSCW community to strengthen our feminist literacy. © 2023 Owner/Author.

In the modern era, Machine learning and Artificial intelligence remain the most remarkable IT application, a technology that has seen unprecedented progress in recent decades. AI and machine learning are all closely linked with using a computer to simulate intelligent behaviour with little human interaction. It has been noticed that many large organisations are implementing technologies such as ML and AI to improve their performance and productivity in the business. As AI and ML technologies become more widely used, being a technology-powered company will undoubtedly be a must for survival. AI and ML are guiding on everything from production to delivering products and services to customers. Machine translation, chatbots, and self-learning algorithms are examples of AI technology that may help people better comprehend their surroundings and respond appropriately. Organisations have been embracing artificial intelligence technology advancements to create and maximising their strategic and competitive advantages. Hence, businesses rely heavily on AI to enhance their performance and develop new services to boost productivity and generate new offerings. In addition, they are fundamentally reshaping companies' business and operation processes to better meet customers’ requirements and expectations, resulting in increased efficiency. Machine learning and artificial intelligence are broad concepts that will be examined further in this article.
