Comparison of Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) and Mixed Geographically Weighted Regression (MGWR) Models on the Poverty Levels in Central Java in 2023

Poverty is considered a serious global issue that must be immediately eradicated by Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, namely ending poverty anywhere and in any form. As a developing country, poverty is a complex issue faced by Indonesia. Tackling poverty in Indonesia has become a key focus of the government’s strategic priorities. This issue of poverty is experienced by all provinces in Indonesia, including Central Java. The poverty rate in Central Java stands at 10.77% or 3.79 million people. The causes of poverty are explained by several factors. Using these various factors, a mapping model can be conducted to determine the number of poor populations in Central Java. This research employs Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) and Mixed Geographically Weighted Regression (MGWR) approaches to compare the effectiveness of these models in analyzing the number of poor populations in Central Java in 2023. The kernel function weighting used in this study is Fixed Gaussian. The results showed that the MGWR model outperformed both the OLS regression and GWR models, achieving an Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) of 62.766, an R2 of 82.3%, and a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.177. Consequently, it can be inferred that the MGWR model was more suitable for explaining the poverty levels in Central Java. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). All Rights Reserved.

Indonesia has entered a period of demographic bonus. Human resources must be optimized. The number of children who do not in employment, education or training (NEET) in each province needs attention. Several factors that could contribute to the decline in the NEET percentage are literacy rates and the number of adolescents with computer skills. Increasing these two factors is believed to be able to reduce the percentage of NEET in every province in Indonesia. To find out the relationship between these two factors and how much influence they have on the percentage of NEET, this research is modeled by Cauchy regression and includes spatial effects. The results of the analysis show that the best model is when the spatial effect is modeled by Fernandez Steel Skew Normal conditionally autoregressive (FSSN CAR). This result is seen from the smallest value of the Watanabe Akaike Information Criterion (WAIC) in this model, which is 190.5. The parameter estimated shows that the higher the literacy rate and the number of adolescents with computer skills, the lower the percentage of NEET in each province in Indonesia. The results of this research can be useful for the Indonesian government to increase the number of educational facilities related to these two factors. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). Oil content estimation in palm fruits is a precious property that significantly impacts oil palm production,starting from the upstream and *** content can be used to monitor the progress of the oil palm fresh fruit bunch(FFB)and be applied to identify product *** on the near-infrared(NIR)signals,this study proposes an empirical mode decomposition(EMD)technique to decompose signals and predict the oil content of palm ***,350 palm fruits with Tenera varieties(Elaeis guineensis ***),at various ages of maturity,were harvested from the Cikabayan Oil Palm Plantation(IPB University,Indonesia).Second,each sample was sent directly to the laboratory for NIR signal measurements and oil content ***,the EMD analysis and arti-ficial neural network(ANN)were employed to correlate the NIR signals and oil ***,a robust EMD-ANN model is generated by optimizing the lowest possible *** on performance evaluation,the proposed technique can predict oil content with a coefficient of determination(R2)of 0.933±0.015 and a root mean squared error(RMSE)of 1.446±*** results demonstrate that the model has a good predictive capacity and has the potential to predict the oil content of palm fruits directly,without neither solvents nor reagents,which makes it environmentally ***,the proposed technique has a promising potential to be applied in the oil palm *** like this will lead to the effective and efficient management of oil palm production.

This study conducts a systematic literature review (SLR) that focuses on optimizing deep-learning techniques for post-earthquake building damage detection. By employing the PRISMA protocol, this review aimed to collect, analyze, and summarize the findings of various studies published between 2014 and 2024. This research identifies and evaluates optimization methods such as hyperparameter tuning, transfer learning, and data augmentation, highlighting their effectiveness and implementation. Challenges such as data quality, computational costs, and model interpretability were also discussed. The findings indicate that while deep learning techniques significantly enhance the accuracy and efficiency of damage detection, further research is required to address existing challenges and improve model robustness in diverse earthquake scenarios. © 2024 IEEE.

Farmers and agricultural newcomers often rely on intuition for plant nutrient management, leading to inaccuracies. This study presents a real-time soil nutrient monitoring and plant recommendation system using IoT and machine learning. The prototype integrates an ESP32 microcontroller, NPK sensor, soil pH sensor, and DHT11 with an application and a machine learning model. The model employs a hard voting method combining random forest, LightGBM, and support vector machine algorithms, deployed via Flask API and hosted on Vercel. Testing showed the system effectively monitors soil nutrients in real-time, with a pH sensor error margin of ±0.51 and NPK sensor readings displaying a non-linear increase in levels. The hard voting method achieved 98.5% accuracy, with recommendation processing taking less than one second (371.17ms) and CPU usage at 7%. System performance depends on internet speed, while recommendation accuracy is influenced by temperature and humidity. This system offers a practical solution for precision agriculture by optimizing nutrient application and plant recommendations. © 2024 IEEE.

Machine learning has been employed to automatically detect the defects on car engines in several studies. One of crucial challenges on applying machine learning is on the amount of defect data collected is often large with high dimensional data, making manual detection inefficient and inaccurate. The other problem is on the missing data as oftentimes the collected data are incomplete. In this paper, we employ machine learning frameworks for engine defect detection. It comprises the data pre-processing stage which includes imputing missing value data, then performing feature correlation using the Pearson method, and selecting the features to use. After that, the label encoder and standard scaler are carried out. The experimental process begins with creating a baseline, then continues with improving imbalance data using SMOTE, and feature reconstruction using variational autoencoder (VAE). Afterwards, for classification, we employ convolutional neural networks (CNN). The proposed method achieved precision 99.63%. We collect engine quality dataset of 224,239 data with 90 features from major automobile manufacturing in Indonesia. This showed that SMOTE and Variational Autoencoder dimensional reconstruction method can overcome defect predictions in car engine defect data with data imbalance conditions. This novel methodology distinguished our study from prior methods and shows considerable increases in precision and recall matrix. © 2024 IEEE.

Based on WHO's data, breast cancer is one of the most deadly diseases that has claimed many victims, especially women. This disease begins with the presence of an undetected and eventually turns into malignant (cancer). This happens due to ignorance of the importance of having a medical check-up even though in good health. Doctors and researchers can prevent the development of tumor cells through treatment that begins with radiological examinations to identify the possibility of a person being affected by this disease. One of the most frequently used techniques is Mammography. This technique can detect the presence of tumor cells using advanced technology and several methods in displaying the patient's diagnostic results on low-dose X-rays in the form of mammogram images. The technology is inseparable from the methods used to identify the presence of tumor cells. In this study, we have proposed the CNN method based on the deep-CNN model to identify mammogram images in the detection of breast cancer cells with average evaluation results in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, specificity, and f-measure on mammogram image datasets of 99.52%, 99.72%, 99.31%, 99.72%, and 99.5%. These results showed that this method has a good performance in breast cancer detection. © 2023 IEEE.

This systematic literature review (SLR) study aims to analyze the role of New Media as a Tool to Improve Creative Thinking, with relevant articles from 2018 to 2023 taken from reputable international journals. It uses three research questions (RQ) to explore New Media's relevance in stimulating creativity. The results indicate that interactive platforms such as social media and online collaboration tools positively influence creative thinking skills. Interaction through New Media allows individuals to share ideas, discuss, and be exposed to various points of view, all of which stimulate creative thinking. In addition, New Media also facilitates the creative process of solving problems and generating original ideas. The immersive experiences offered by this technology can enhance the exploration of ideas and increase the ability to think out-of-the-box. While New Media offers great potential to enhance creativity, there are also potential risks, such as false information, media addiction, and privacy concerns. Therefore, awareness of the wise use of New Media needs to be increased, especially in education and everyday life. Overall, this literature review provides in-depth insight into the role of New Media in enhancing creative thinking skills and driving innovation. With the right approach, New Media can be an effective tool in stimulating creative thinking and encouraging the creation of original ideas beneficial for future social and technological developments. © 2023 IEEE.

This study examines the decline in the usage of the Javanese language, which has experienced a decrease in the number of speakers from approximately 82 million in 2007 to 68.2 million in 2015. The convergence of the Javanese script and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology is proposed as a solution, allowing for the preservation and accessibility of the Javanese script in the digital age. The integration of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) in Javanese script classification achieved a high accuracy rate of 92.95% in identifying positive and negative cases. The dataset used for training consisted of 8440 sample images, which were divided into 20 subfolders for training and testing. The results presented in Table IV demonstrate the successful implementation of the classification model, achieving a 98.87% sensitivity, 100% precision, and 98.88% specificity. This research contributes to the preservation and understanding of the culturally significant Javanese script while addressing the decline in its usage. © 2023 IEEE.

Deafness is a condition that results in the loss of hearing function, hindering the reception of information such as oral communication that relies on auditory senses. Consequently, individuals with hearing impairment experience communication barriers and may have limited or no ability to respond. One solution is the use of sign language. In Indonesia, there are two known sign languages: Sibi and Bisindo. Both serve the same function but differ in their style of movement and expression. Bisindo is considered more flexible as it conveys meaning based on the Indonesian language. However, the universal understanding of this language solution is still limited among many people. Therefore, a program is needed to facilitate translation between deaf individuals who use sign language and their counterparts who do not communicate through sign language. CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) is a deep learning algorithm used for training visual input data recognition by computer systems. There are various CNN-based architectures, and one of them is AlexNet. Based on the author's testing, the AlexNet architecture proves to be suitable for real-time sign language translation. The evaluation of the system involved 7,800 datasets and 520 testing instances, with an average accuracy of 468 correct translations. When averaged, the system achieved a 90% accuracy rate, representing a 100% increase in accuracy compared to previous approaches. © 2023 IEEE.
