INTRODUCTION: A robust method is proposed in this paper to detect helmet usage in two-wheeler riders to enhance road safety. OBJECTIVES: This involves a custom made dataset that contains 1000 images captured under diverse real-world scenarios, including variations in helmet size, colour, and lighting conditions. This dataset has two classes namely with helmet and without helmet. METHODS: The proposed helmet classification approach utilizes the Multi-Scale Deep Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) framework cascaded with Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network. Initially the Multi-Scale Deep CNN extracts modes by applying Single-level Discrete 2D Wavelet Transform (dwt2) to decompose the original images. In particular, four different modes are used for segmenting a single image namely approximation, horizontal detail, vertical detail and diagonal detail. After feeding the segmented images into a Multi-Scale Deep CNN model, it is cascaded with an LSTM network. RESULTS: The proposed model achieved accuracies of 99.20% and 95.99% using both 5-Fold Cross-Validation (CV) and Hold-out CV methods, respectively. CONCLUSION: This result was better than the CNN-LSTM, dwt2-LSTM and a tailor made CNN model. © 2025 A. Annadurai et al.

The growth optimizer(GO)is an innovative and robust metaheuristic optimization algorithm designed to simulate the learning and reflective processes experienced by individuals as they mature within the social ***,the original GO algorithm is constrained by two significant limitations:slow convergence and high mem-ory *** restricts its application to large-scale and complex *** address these problems,this paper proposes an innovative enhanced growth optimizer(eGO).In contrast to conventional population-based optimization algorithms,the eGO algorithm utilizes a probabilistic model,designated as the virtual population,which is capable of accurately replicating the behavior of actual populations while simultaneously reducing memory ***,this paper introduces the Lévy flight mechanism,which enhances the diversity and flexibility of the search process,thus further improving the algorithm’s global search capability and convergence *** verify the effectiveness of the eGO algorithm,a series of experiments were conducted using the CEC2014 and CEC2017 test *** results demonstrate that the eGO algorithm outperforms the original GO algorithm and other compact algorithms regarding memory usage and convergence speed,thus exhibiting powerful optimization ***,the eGO algorithm was applied to image *** a comparative analysis with the existing PSO and GO algorithms and other compact algorithms,the eGO algorithm demonstrates superior performance in image fusion.

Fog computing is a key enabling technology of 6G systems as it provides quick and reliable computing,and data storage services which are required for several 6G *** Intelligence(AI)algorithms will be an integral part of 6G systems and efficient task offloading techniques using fog computing will improve their performance and *** this paper,the focus is on the scenario of Partial Offloading of a Task to Multiple Helpers(POMH)in which larger tasks are divided into smaller subtasks and processed in parallel,hence expediting task ***,using POMH presents challenges such as breaking tasks into subtasks and scaling these subtasks based on many interdependent factors to ensure that all subtasks of a task finish simultaneously,preventing resource ***,applying matching theory to POMH scenarios results in dynamic preference profiles of helping devices due to changing subtask sizes,resulting in a difficult-to-solve,externalities *** paper introduces a novel many-to-one matching-based algorithm,designed to address the externalities problem and optimize resource allocation within POMH ***,we propose a new time-efficient preference profiling technique that further enhances time optimization in POMH *** performance of the proposed technique is thoroughly evaluated in comparison to alternate baseline schemes,revealing many advantages of the proposed *** simulation findings indisputably show that the proposed matching-based offloading technique outperforms existing methodologies in the literature,yielding a remarkable 52 reduction in task latency,particularly under high workloads.

Improved Harris Hawks Algorithm and Its Application in Feature Selection

This research focuses on improving the Harris’Hawks Optimization algorithm(HHO)by tackling several of its shortcomings,including insufficient population diversity,an imbalance in exploration ***,and a lack of thorough exploitation *** tackle these shortcomings,it proposes enhancements from three distinct perspectives:an initialization technique for populations grounded in opposition-based learning,a strategy for updating escape energy factors to improve the equilibrium between exploitation and exploration,and a comprehensive exploitation approach that utilizes variable neighborhood search along with mutation *** effectiveness of the Improved Harris Hawks Optimization algorithm(IHHO)is assessed by comparing it to five leading algorithms across 23 benchmark test *** findings indicate that the IHHO surpasses several contemporary algorithms its problem-solving ***,this paper introduces a feature selection method leveraging the IHHO algorithm(IHHO-FS)to address challenges such as low efficiency in feature selection and high computational costs(time to find the optimal feature combination and model response time)associated with high-dimensional *** analyses between IHHO-FS and six other advanced feature selection methods are conducted across eight *** results demonstrate that IHHO-FS significantly reduces the computational costs associated with classification models by lowering data dimensionality,while also enhancing the efficiency of feature ***,IHHO-FS shows strong competitiveness relative to numerous algorithms.

A three-step SEM-Bayesian network approach for predicting the determinants of CloudIoT-based healthcare adoption

Adopting the CloudIoT-based healthcare paradigm provides various prospects for medical IT and considerably enhances healthcare services. However, compared to the advanced development of CloudIoT-based healthcare systems, their usage is relatively low among healthcare professionals in hospitals. Thus, a study on the healthcare professionals acceptance and adoption of CloudIoT-based healthcare is critical. This study explores factors influencing healthcare professionals adoption of CloudIoT-based healthcare solutions by extending the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of technology 2 model. Data was collected from 300 healthcare professionals in Jordan through an online questionnaire developed using the Google^® form application. The Bayesian Network and Structural Equation Modeling techniques were used to analyze and validate the proposed model. The results revealed that the healthcare professional’s behavioral intention is directly affected by seven factors: performance expectancy, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, habit, trust, privacy, and security. The results also indicate that trust mediates the influence of privacy, facilitating conditions, and performance expectancy on behavioral intention. The research results will aid CloudIoT service providers, healthcare organizations, designers, and developers by offering comprehensive knowledge of the significant factors of CloudIoT-based healthcare adoption. A better understanding of these factors will help these stakeholder groups enhance their services and speed up the adoption of CloudIoT in the healthcare area. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management 2024.

Inverse kinematics solution for a six-degree-of-freedom upper limb rehabilitation robot using deep learning models

The inverse kinematics problem in serially manipulated upper limb rehabilitation robots implies the usage of the end-effector position to obtain the joint rotation angles. In contrast to the forward kinematics, there are no systematic approaches for solving the inverse kinematics problem. Furthermore, for some morphology of the upper limb rehabilitation robots, the inverse kinematics problem is particularly challenging to solve. Conventional methods to solve the inverse kinematics problem reported in the literature are computationally expensive. In the present work, we propose a deep learning-based model to acquire the joint angles for a given end-effector position. The proposed approach exhibits high efficacy in determining the joint angles for various target positions and can accurately predict the end-effector positions once trained, improving the ability of the upper limb rehabilitation robot to adapt to varying patient needs. Due to its improved capability and effectiveness to track positions, the proposed algorithm lays the foundation for the development of efficient controllers in future. © The Author(s) 2025.

With the growing demand for wireless networks, network traffic has surged, particularly involving large-scale data transmission. This results in an increased number of network security threats and the emergence of various cyber-attacks. To overcome these threats, the development of an efficient intrusion detection system (IDS) has become crucial. By leveraging the recent advancements in Artificial intelligence (AI), this project introduces an optimized deep learning mechanism utilizing a prevalent deep learning model, the Deep Neural Network (DNN) algorithm. This proposed method uses feature engineering techniques like feature selection and feature reduction. Given the high dimensionality of the selected datasets, these techniques are employed to prevent over-fitting. Recursive feature elimination performs feature selection followed by Principal Component Analysis for the feature reduction process, thus enhancing the model's efficiency. The system is assessed using two benchmark datasets: KDD and UNSW-NB15. The experimental results indicate that the presented DNN model on the KDD dataset has achieved 92.45% accuracy and 91.35% accuracy on the UNSW-NB15 dataset for intrusion classification. © 2024 IEEE.

The phrase 'COVID-19' has become the most popular and highly searched term on Google since its emergence in November 2019. The world must combat this pandemic. With advancements in mobile technology and sensors, Developing Internet of Things (IoT)-based healthcare solutions is now feasible. Proactive as well as preventative, these new systems, are in contrast to the traditional reactive healthcare systems. In this study, a paradigm based on the Internet of Things is proposed for detecting COVID-19 suspects. The framework presented in this research focuses on predicting COVID-19 in its early stages. To determine whether the virus is present, it uses health measurements collected from sensors and other Internet of Things devices. By gathering symptom data related to COVID-19, the behavior of the virus can be better understood. Four machine learning models are introduced in this paper: CatBoost, Decision Tree, Random Forest, and Logistic Regression. These models are used to create a Diagnostic Learning Classifier (DLC) model. The top three performing models, Decision Tree, Logistic Regression, and CatBoost, are combined using a weighted average or majority voting approach, depending on the nature of the problem. The DLC model is compared to base models such as Random Forest, Decision Tree, Logistic Regression, and CatBoost, using multiple evaluation criteria. The goal of this ensemble model is to increase forecast accuracy by utilizing the variety and advantages of the chosen models. It delivers great diagnostic accuracy when used as a machine learning model on the gathered data. Notably, the DLC classifier achieves an accuracy of 91%, followed by Random Forest (86%), CatBoost (85%), Logistic Regression (84%), and Decision Tree (82%). These results demonstrate the effectiveness of the voting classifier in efficiently managing COVID-19 by accurately diagnosing patients and notifying health authorities of suspected cases. © 2023 IEEE.
