We have developed a visual programming tool called SmrAI for function testing, and investigated whether wrapping existing source code with Scratch Blocks is an effective means of mitigating the shortage of programming personnel in the manufacturing. SmrAI is based on Smalruby, which can convert Scratch Blocks into Ruby code. In addition, SmrAI introduces two new sets of Blocks that wrap existing Ruby libraries for function testing. Since existing tools and libraries were utilized, the cost of developing SmrAI was low, and there were no changes in the function testing procedure. We conducted a verification test using staff members who were familiar with the function testing process but had little or no programming experience, and confirmed that they were able to program using SmrAI and that they had confidence in its business applications. These results are expected to contribute to the diversification and increase of programming personnel responsible for function test programming. © 2022 Japan Society for Software Science and technology. For several years, traffic congestion has been a major problem in big cities where the number of cars and different means of transportation has been increasing significantly. The problem of congestion is becoming more and more critical, and if not treated smartly this issue will negatively affect drivers by wasting time and fuel gas while waiting for hours in lanes. This paper presents a new and smart way to mitigate this issue in an affordable cost, minimum processing power, and low power consumption. This concept takes into consideration the majority of the cases that may cause congestion and presents a smart and accurate outputs to ease traffic flow leading to the prediction of the peak hours of traffic congestion for smarter control. A model is designed to study the case of a four lanes crossroad with two traffic lights and two LCD monitors. The strategy in reading data is divided into two parts: real data from sensors and pre collected data from google maps to create a kind of a predicted pattern over a certain time interval. The responsiveness of the system is analyzed thoroughly, and the accuracy of all possible cases is carefully considered and evaluated. Each part of the system was tested alone, and the overall system is still in an ongoing testing phase. The results have shown minimum faulty errors and accepted outputs that can lead to safe traffic control decisions. Finally, integrating more IoT devices and sensors between V2V, V2P, V2I with the help of artificial intelligence will definitely optimize this system with higher accuracy.

The covid-19 pandemic and Economic Policy Uncertainty resulting from the shutdown of production, withdrawal of investments, enforcement of lockdowns and quarantines globally, have been directly affecting stock markets worldwide. This study is thus an attempt to analyse the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on stock market behaviour in major affected economies. Moreover, the time frame was extended by using current data which investigate the impact of the virus during the boom and the blast phase in the country's most hit by the pandemic crisis such as China, Italy, UK and US. The frequency of the data is daily, and it dates from 3 January 2020 up to 10 February 2021. The considered time framework will give a deep insight into how stock markets behave in the case of an exogenous shock. The Dickey-Fuller Augmented Unit Root Test indicates that all the variables are stationary at first difference, which is one of the main conditions to have robust result, and the ARCH-LM test for the heteroskedasticity of the residuals, which show that all the probability values are significant, rejecting the null hypothesis of no ARCH effect. Based on the results of GARCH (1,1), we conclude that the change in stock markets volatility is positive and significant in China, Italy, UK and USA. This suggests that the impacts of COVID-19 outbreak and economic policy uncertainty on Stock Markets are a significant and Homogeneous across the studied countries, and the shock on FTSE Italia All Share has the longest time to vanish which makes it the riskiest to invest during this period, while the shock on SP500 USA has the shortest time to disappear meaning that it is safest Stock Market in this study. These findings have significant implications for policymakers, institutional and individual investors and Financial Markets analysts. © 2022 IET Conference Proceedings. All rights reserved.

Epilepsy is a medical problem that tackles lots of patients. It limits the life activity of such patients due to the seizures that occur anytime and anywhere. Thus, creating a monitoring system that could make their life easier and allow them to perform daily life activities as safe as possible has been studied. This paper is a continuity for a project where a system monitors epileptic patients using a set of wearable sensors connected to several processing units, the main sensors are Electroencephalogram (EEG) for the electrical activity of the brain, electrocardiogram (ECG) for the electrical activity of the heart, and accelerometers to monitor the posture of the patient, features extracted from EEG and ECG signals are used for prediction/detection of seizures. Thus, the objective of this paper is to present a comparative study in order to choose the appropriate classification method for seizure prediction and detection. Five classification methods were studied: Decision Trees, Discriminant Analysis, Support Vector Machine (SVM), K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), and Ensemble Learning. For each of the classification methods, the accuracy, the specificity, the sensitivity, the precision, the false detection rate and the Fmeasure were studied and compared. The results for seizure prediction system show that the highest accuracy, specificity and F-Measure, and lowest false detection rate were achieved with Bagged Trees Ensemble Learning, the highest sensitivity and precision were achieved with Quadratic Support Vector Machine. However, for seizure detection system, the highest accuracy and F-Measure were achieved with Linear Support Vector, the highest sensitivity and specificity were achieved with Fine Gaussian Support Vector Machine, and the highest precision and lowest false detection rate were achieved with Subspace Discriminant Ensemble Learning. © 2020 IEEE.

The article is devoted to the development of means for recognition of the emotions of the speaker, based on the neural network analysis of fixed fragments of the voice signal. The possibility of improving recognition tools through the use of a convolutional neural network of the GoogLeNet type is shown. The expediency of training the network on the examples of the TESS database is determined. A procedure for representing a voice signal in the form of a square grayscale image has been developed. Based on the use of the specified database, the modification of the GoogLeNet network was carried out. The architecture and software implementation of the recognition module have been developed. With the help of computer experiments, it has been established that after 150 epochs of training on a fairly limited training sample, the modified GoogLeNet makes it possible to achieve an accuracy of recognition of the speaker's emotions of approximately 0.97 on test examples. The obtained accuracy is comparable to the accuracy of the best modern systems of this purpose and confirms the promise of using neural network models like GoogLeNet for emotion recognition based on voice signal analysis. The need for further research aimed at reducing the resource intensity of the neural network model is shown. © 2022 IEEE.

In the present work, we developed a mathematical model for dengue-Chikungunya co-infection to analyze the disease transmission dynamics and interrelationship. We considered the essence of time dependent optimal control with the help of Pontryagin’s maximum principle. In response to the growing imperative of addressing environmental concerns and aligning with governmental regulations in supply chain management, this study navigates the optimization landscape of closed-loop supply chains through the lens of carbon cap and trade policy. The optimization model aims to account for the impact of consumer demands, distribution networks, and retail operations on the overall closed-loop supply chain dynamics. The innovative approach introduces an optimization model designed to grapple with the challenges posed by imprecise information within an intuitionistic type-2 fuzzy framework. The bi-objective mixed-integer model integrates pivotal objectives, including carbon emissions reduction, total cost minimization, and trade policy compliance. For a nuanced comprehension of the proposed model, we present three numerical examples, offering clarity on its complexities. Following this, a sensitivity analysis visually depicts the impact of fluctuations in demand and capacity on the defined objective functions. Furthermore, these conclusions unveil promising avenues for future research and exploration within the ambit of this study. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

Blood is vital for transporting oxygen, nutrients, and hormones to all body parts as it circulates through arteries and veins. It removes carbon dioxide, regulates body temperature, and maintains the body's immune system. Individuals constantly need blood and its derivatives to save their lives and improve their health through medical treatments and surgical operations. Liver diseases are one of the diseases that affects the health of individuals and requires blood to continue living. These diseases cause significant damage to people's health, and early diagnosis plays a crucial role in saving lives. In this paper, machine learning algorithms (support vector machine and random forest) are involved in detecting liver diseases and determining whether donors are suitable to donate blood from blood values. This paper is applied research that found that the performance measures of the random forest algorithm achieved excellent performance in identifying suitable people to donate blood.

In recent decades, global climate change has become one of the most critical environmental issues, leading to increased environmental and social concerns about the sustainability of logistics networks. This study proposes a novel multi-objective, multi-facility location–allocation model for a two-stage solid logistics network that supports green practices. To account for uncertainty in real-world problems, some parameters of the model are represented as triangular type-2 neutrosophic numbers to deal with hesitant situations. The fuzzy model is then converted into a deterministic one using a new ranking approach. Three conflicting objective functions – minimizing total financial costs, maximizing customers’ satisfaction levels, and ensuring sustainable and effective conveyances – are simultaneously optimized using the ϵ-constraint approach. The proposed model and solution approach are tested with two numerical examples. A comparative study is also presented, comparing the proposed approach with other Pareto-based multi-objective approaches, such as the global criterion approach, multi-objective fuzzy programming, and weighted Chebychev programming. Finally, the paper concludes with some remarks. © 2023

With the increasing number of IoT devices, there is a growing need for bandwidth to support their communication. Unfortunately, there is a shortage of available bandwidth due to preallocated bands for various services. To address this issue, Cognitive Internet of Things (CR-IoT) enables devices to optimize their efficiency and enhance their communication capabilities by intelligently accessing available bandwidth. This is achieved through the use of soft sensing metrics, where devices continuously monitor the RF environment and transmit data opportunistically in overlay mode if a free channel is detected, or in underlay mode if not. In this paper, a soft sensing metric based hybrid transmission framework is proposed for CR-IoT devices to meet the data rate requirement for the smart city applications. The efficacy of this approach is demonstrated through simulation results.
