Simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) is a promising technology for the upcoming sixth-generation (6G) communication networks, enabling internet of things (IoT) devices and sensors to extend their operational lifetimes. In this paper, we propose a SWIPT scheme by projecting the interference signals from both intra-wireless information transfer (WIT) and inter-wireless energy transfer (WET) into the null space, simplifying the system into a point-to-point WIT and WET problem. Upon further analysis, we confirm that dedicated energy beamforming is unnecessary. In addition, we develop a low-complexity algorithm to solve the problem efficiently, further reducing computational overhead. Numerical results validate our analysis, showing that the computational complexity is reduced by 97.5% and 99.96% for the cases of KI = KE = 2, M = 4 and KI = KE = 16, M = 64, respectively. Modality Decoupling is All You Need: A Simple Solution for Unsupervised Hyperspectral Image Fusion

Hyperspectral Image Fusion (HIF) aims to fuse low-resolution hyperspectral images (LR-HSIs) and high-resolution multispectral images (HR-MSIs) to reconstruct high spatial and high spectral resolution images. Current methods typically apply direct fusion from the two modalities without valid supervision, failing to fully perceive the deep modality-complementary information and hence, resulting in a superficial understanding of inter-modality connections. To bridge this gap, we propose a simple and effective solution for unsupervised HIF with an assumption that modality decoupling is essential for HIF. We introduce the modality clustering loss that ensures clear guidance of the modality, decoupling towards modality-shared features while steering clear of modality-complementary ones. Also, we propose an end-to-end Modality-Decoupled Spatial-Spectral Fusion (MossFuse) framework that decouples shared and complementary information across modalities and aggregates a concise representation of the LR-HSI and HR-MSI to reduce the modality redundancy. Systematic experiments over multiple datasets demonstrate that our simple and effective approach consistently outperforms the existing HIF methods while requiring considerably fewer parameters with reduced inference time. Event Coreference Resolution (ECR) focuses on clustering event mentions that allude to identical actual events. Previous research primarily focuses on encoding event mentions without incorporating human interpretations, making it difficult to integrate human-summarized rules for guiding the ECR task. Furthermore, the semantic relations between event mentions have not been thoroughly explored, which impacts coreference judgment. To address these issues, we first utilize the powerful Longformer to acquire event representations at the document level. In addition, we introduce a prompt learning template to better emphasize event types and parameters, enhancing the interaction between event modeling and coreference judgment. Ultimately, we create matching vectors for event mentions using tensor matching and incorporate a U-shaped module to effectively identify the semantic relationships among these mentions, which enhances coreference discrimination. DPTU surpasses other ECR models on the KBP2017 dataset in cause of some experiments.

Blockchain, as an emerging transaction processing system, suffers from low throughput and high latency. Sharded blockchains can significantly increase throughput by dividing nodes into groups (i.e., shards) to process disjoint transactions in parallel. However, the diverse latency requirements of transactions in current sharded blockchains are not well met. Three challenges prevent the sharded blockchain from becoming a real-time transaction processing system, namely, the static block size, the first-come-first-served transaction packing strategy, and the load imbalance. Therefore, this paper proposes 3 methods to help turn the sharded blockchain into a real-time transaction processing system. First, we propose an inter-shard dynamic block size negotiation method that enables shards to adaptively determine the globally optimal block size based on the deadlines of pending transactions. Then, we propose a DAG-based transaction packing method for reducing the number of deadline violations and improving parallelism. Finally, we propose a minimum-cost-flow-based shard reconfiguration method to address load imbalance. Under real datasets on Ethereum, experimental results show that AgileShard using the above three methods can effectively improve the transaction deadline satisfaction rate.

Fine-Grained Vectorized Merge Sorting on RISC-V: From Register to Cache

Merge sort as a divide-sort-merge paradigm has been widely applied in computer science fields. As modern reduced instruction set computing architectures like the fifth generation (RISC-V) regard multiple registers as a vector register group for wide instruction parallelism, optimizing merge sort with this vectorized property is becoming increasingly common. In this paper, we overhaul the divide-sort-merge paradigm, from its register-level sort to the cache-aware merge, to develop a fine-grained RISC-V vectorized merge sort (RVMS). From the register-level view, the inline vectorized transpose instruction is missed in RISC-V, so implementing it efficiently is non-trivial. Besides, the vectorized comparisons do not always work well in the merging networks. Both issues primarily stem from the expensive data shuffle instruction. To bypass it, RVMS strides to take register data as the proxy of data shuffle to accelerate the transpose operation, and meanwhile replaces vectorized comparisons with scalar cousin for more light real value swap. On the other hand, as cache-aware merge makes larger data merge in the cache, most merge schemes have two drawbacks: the in-cache merge usually has low cache utilization, while the out-of-cache merging network remains an ineffectively symmetric structure. To this end, we propose the half-merge scheme to employ the auxiliary space of in-place merge to halve the footprint of naïve merge sort, and meanwhile copy one sequence to this space to avoid the former data exchange. Furthermore, an asymmetric merging network is developed to adapt to two different input sizes. Experiments on the RISC-V processor SG2042 show that four fine-grained optimization schemes including register strided transpose, hybrid merging network, half-merge strategy, and asymmetric merging network, improve performance by 4.05%, 19.88%, 12.23%, and 11.04% respectively. Due to the prevalence of the COVID-19 epidemic around the globe, children were compelled to engage in remote learning through online platforms, hence mobile phone has become one of their predominant devices. Mobile device with Internet access offers a major outlet for education, entertainment, and social connection, but this combination can lead to several significant bad sequences such as online exploitation, harmful addictions, and other negative impacts of online social networking. To address harmful effects, parental controls are becoming more crucial, yet Sri Lankan parents are less aware of this. Consequently, this study proposes a parental control system to monitor their child’s activities. Android, Microsoft Azure, Java, Python, OpenCV, MySQL, and FastAPI are among the most prominent technologies utilized in the proposed application’s development. The suggested approach focuses primarily on the Sri Lankan context and aims to enhance parental digital literacy while safeguarding children from cyber threats. Yielded results showed the proposed mobile application for the identification of toxic words, drugs & alcohol content, game character images, and Instagram Sinhala comments severity as 94%, 95%, 97%, and 55% respectively in controlled experiments.

Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) as a transformative technology in wireless communication, can significantly improve the wireless communication environment by adjusting the phase and amplitude of reflective elements. However, RIS assisted communication systems face a challenge where their numerous reflective elements necessitate significant pilot overhead for accurate channel estimation. In other words, the performance of channel estimation decreases when pilot resources are limited. We propose the channel map based channel estimation (CMCE) to address this issue. The CMCE scheme utilizes the signal processing capability of the RIS to acquire directional information of wireless channel paths at different user locations, and construct the channel map. Then the CMCE scheme optimizes the reflection coefficients of the RIS and focuses the reflected signals of the RIS in the receiving direction of the base station. The proposed scheme is simulated and compared to schemes without reflection coefficient optimization. The simulation results show that, under the same pilot overhead, the proposed scheme can significantly reduce the normalized mean square error (NMSE) of cascaded channel estimation.

This study proposes a laboratory intelligent facial recognition system based on improved CNN, which significantly improves the accuracy of facial recognition by optimising the portrait recognition algorithm, improving CNN calculation and large parameter scale, and utilising perspective projection to improve portrait effect and sample utilisation. The experimental results show that the recognition rate has been improved by 10%, the CPU usage rate is less than 100%, and the model parameters have been reduced by more than 95%. This system can effectively and accurately recognise faces, making it suitable for embedded facial recognition devices. Copyright © 2023 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

AI-IoT integration is significant, changing the future of networking, particularly in terms of performance and security enhancements. The collection and transmission of sensitive data across secure networks is crucial for the IoT, which combines embedded systems and Networks of Wireless Sensors (WSNs). Ensuring the efficacy and security of these networks is crucial. In this research, a novel hybrid key Hybrid management protocol for Internet of Things applications using WSNs is proposed. The maximizes network performance of efficiency and security by utilizing cloud services and machine learning, specifically XGBoost. The suggested protocol creates a secure communication framework for WSNs by combining symmetric and asymmetric key management strategies. Furthermore, the centralized functions and scalability of cloud-based services enable network-wide updates and effective key distribution. The protocol offers anomaly detection, intelligent network load balancing, dynamic key management, predictive key distribution, and intelligent network load balancing by employing XGBoost-based machine learning algorithms. By using network behavior modelling and historical data analysis, the system forecasts the optimal times and locations for important updates, reducing overhead and enhancing security. Additionally, anomaly detection based on XGBoost improves the protocol's ability to recognize anomalies and potential security risks. This hybrid architecture creates a highly flexible and effective protocol for IoT-enabled WSNs by combining cloud integration, centralized key management, and AI-driven intelligence. The proposed approach performs better on the network due to proven methods and algorithms.
