To address the problem of inaccurate prediction of slab quality in continuous casting, an algorithm based on particle swarm optimisation and differential evolution is proposed. The algorithm combines BP neural network prediction method. Firstly, the factors affecting the quality of the slab are analysed and a sufficient number of sample sets are extracted for training;Secondly, the particle swarm optimisation algorithm is optimised, and then the BP neural network is optimised and the chaos mechanism is introduced to increase the continuity of motion of the particles. The population is partitioned hierarchically, and different types of particles are processed separately to improve the global search capability of the algorithm. The differential evolution algorithm is also integrated to optimise cross-selection and increase particle diversity. Finally, a prediction model is built to predict and analyse the sample data. In the experiment, three algorithms are tested for different benchmark functions, namely the comparison of convergence, stability and searchability. The optimisation time comparison is completed, the target curve fit test is performed and the slab quality test results are checked. The experimental results show that the PSO-EIDE algorithm has strong optimisation ability, fast convergence speed and obvious improvement in stability and accuracy. © (2025), (International Association of Engineers). Instruction selection optimization for VLIW architecture based on classification node merging

Traditional instruction selection methods fail to fully exploit the very long instruction word (VLIW) architecture’s efficient scalar instructions. We propose an optimized instruction selection method based on classification node merging. This method abstracts scalar intermediate instructions into nodes and divides them into associated and similar ones according to operational semantics. Combined with the VLIW architecture’s instruction set features and guided by the instruction cost model, the nodes are merged and optimized to select efficient instructions. We design an instruction generation framework that swiftly converts the low level virtual machine intermediate representation into the instruction sequence of the target architecture. The experimental results show that, compared with the instruction sequence generated by M7002-cc, the instruction sequence generated with the solution proposed in this paper exhibits an average execution performance that is up to 54% higher on the FT-M7002 hardware platform. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

This study provides an innovative architectural model for e-Health systems that aims to improve cyber resilience while maintaining high availability under fluctuating traffic loads. We examined typical cybersecurity incidents in the field of e-Health, their correlations with architectural defects, and frequent design patterns in currently operational systems. A testing approach based on our research finds those weaknesses and proposes viable fixes. In this paper, a comprehensive support strategy for transitioning from conventional monolithic architectures to microservices is presented. This change makes use of cloud computing's vertical and horizontal scalability to maximize resource utilization while ensuring system reliability. We also discuss deployment ideas for the new microservices, focusing on operational resilience and cybersecurity in e-Health environments. © 2025, Politechnica University of Bucharest. Network Traffic Anomaly Detection Based on DGBi-SA Model

Network traffic anomaly detection plays a crucial role in today's network security and performance management. In response to the challenges in current network traffic data processing, such as insufficient structuring and dynamics, the paper proposes a network traffic anomaly detection approach based on DGBi-SA model, which integrates Dynamic Graph Convolutional Networks (DyGCN), Bi-directional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM), and the Self-Attention mechanism. To solve the problem of insufficient structuring, the model employs DyGCN to capture network traffic's dynamic graph structural characteristics proficiently. Simultaneously, combining Bi-LSTM and the Self-Attention mechanism enhances the model's ability to capture temporal and spatial dependencies. The main objective of the research in the paper is to improve the accuracy and detection efficiency of network traffic prediction, thereby achieving effective detection and timely response to abnormal behaviors in complex network environments. Through a sequence of experiments conducted on the CICIDS-2017 dataset, the paper verifies that the DGBi-SA model can effectively solve the above problems. The experimental results indicate that the model outperforms existing methods in key performance indicators such as AUC, precision, recall, and F1 score, thereby proving that the DGBi-SA model has important application value and scientific significance in network traffic anomaly detection. © 2025, International Association of Engineers. COVID-19 Prediction Model Empowered with Fused Computational Intelligence Technique

The novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) spread rapidly around the world and caused overwhelming effects on the health and economy of the world. It first appeared in Wuhan city of China and was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO). Many researchers, as well as experts in clinical and artificial intelligence experts, are working together to control the rapid spread of COVID-19 with early detection. This study focused on intelligent prediction for coronavirus using computational intelligence approaches (IPC-FCIA) like convolutional neural networks, support vector machines, and fuzzy logic techniques. The proposed IPC-FCIA model is based on two sections namely the training section and the validation section. Features fusion and decision-level fusion are used in this study to enhance the performance of the recommended IPC-FCIA model. The proposed model predicts the early detection of COVID-19 in two types COVID-negative and COVID-positive. The benchmark results of the model show an accuracy of 97.66 % on decision-level fusion in the detection of COVID-19. The proposed model can be helpful for medical experts as well as COVID-19-affected patients. © 2025 Institute of Electronics Engineers of Korea. All rights reserved.

An Automated Approach to Discovering software Refactorings by Comparing Successive Versions

software developers and maintainers frequently conduct software refactorings to improve software quality. Identifying the conducted software refactorings may significantly facilitate the comprehension of software evolution, and thus facilitate software maintenance and evolution. Besides that, the identified refactorings are also valuable for data-driven approaches in software refactoring. To this end, researchers have proposed a few approaches to identifying software refactorings automatically. However, the performance (especially precision) of such approaches deserves substantial improvement. To this end, in this paper, we propose a novel refactoring detection approach, called REEXTRACTOR+. At the heart of REEXTRACTOR+ is a reference-based entity matching algorithm that matches coarse-grained code entities (e.g., classes and methods) between two successive versions, and a context-aware statement matching algorithm that matches statements within a pair of matched methods. We evaluated REEXTRACTOR+ on a benchmark consisting of 400 commits from 20 real-world projects. The evaluation results suggested that REEXTRACTOR+ significantly outperformed the state of the art in refactoring detection, reducing the number of false positives by 59.6% and improving recall by 19.2%. We also evaluated the performance of the proposed matching algorithms that serve as the cornerstone of refactoring detection. The evaluation results suggested that the proposed algorithms excel in matching code entities, substantially reducing the number of mistakes (false positives plus false negatives) by 67% compared to the state-of-the-art approaches. © 2025 IEEE.

Automatic Positioning of Intelligent Mobile Robot Based on Improved Front-End Scanning Matching

Traditional autonomous navigation methods for mobile robots mainly rely on geometric feature-based LiDAR scan-matching algorithms, but in complex environments, this method is often affected due to the presence of moving objects, occlusions, and other interfering factors, resulting in a decrease in positioning accuracy. With the growing demand for robotics applications in logistics, security, exploration and other fields, the need for robust autonomous navigation and high-precision mapping in highly dynamic and complex environments is becoming more and more urgent. To solve this problem, an improved front-end scan matching algorithm based on Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) LiDAR is proposed in this paper. Firstly, by using the target Doppler velocity information provided by the FMCW LiDAR, we design a novel point cloud segmentation algorithm based on velocity clustering, which is able to effectively distinguish between stationary and moving objects, and avoid the dynamic interference affecting the position estimation. Secondly, we introduce the Gaussian Mixture Model Sampling Consistency (GMMSC) algorithm, which is more robust to reject the mis-matched pairs in the scanning matching process and improve the alignment accuracy. Finally, based on the residual high-quality matched pairs, we combine the classical ICP algorithm with the robust kernel function to further enhance the stability of the position estimation in the case of occlusion and local mismatch. The experimental results show that the proposed improved algorithm significantly improves the mapping capability of mobile robots in complex environments compared with the existing techniques. The average relative error of the improved front-end scanning matching algorithm is reduced by 40.6 % compared with the pre-improved one. © 2025, Taiwan Ubiquitous Information CO LTD. Ethical Aspects of ChatGPT in software engineering Research

ChatGPT can improve software engineering (SE) research practices by offering efficient, accessible information analysis, and synthesis based on natural language interactions. However, ChatGPT could bring ethical challenges, encompassing plagiarism, privacy, data security, and the risk of generating biased or potentially detrimental data. This research aims to fill the given gap by elaborating on the key elements: motivators, demotivators, and ethical principles of using ChatGPT in SE research. To achieve this objective, we conducted a literature survey, identified the mentioned elements, and presented their relationships by developing a taxonomy. Furthermore, the identified literature-based elements (motivators, demotivators, and ethical principles) were empirically evaluated by conducting a comprehensive questionnaire-based survey involving SE researchers. In addition, we employed an interpretive structure modeling approach to analyze the relationships between the ethical principles of using ChatGPT in SE research and develop a level-based decision model. We further conducted a cross-impact matrix multiplication applied to classification analysis to create a cluster-based decision model. These models aim to help SE researchers devise effective strategies for ethically integrating ChatGPT into SE research by following the identified principles by adopting the motivators and addressing the demotivators. The findings of this study will establish a benchmark for incorporating ChatGPT services in SE research with an emphasis on ethical considerations. © 2020 IEEE.
