The operation of inverters in distributed photovoltaic (PV) systems within distribution systems is critical for ensuring the reliability and durability of the PV system, particularly when challenged by diverse operational and environmental stress conditions. This study delves into analyzing the inverter stress factors to assess the impact of under-sizing and varying environmental stresses on the reliability and service life of PV inverters. A new operational stress metric, equivalent under-sizing rate (EUR), is proposed to quantify the actual inverter stress from the under-sizing problem. Along with the designed weather and extreme event metrics, the proposed EUR is evaluated in a real-world PV inverter dataset. To handle the censored working time variable, the Cox proportional hazards model is adopted to conduct the data-driven stress factor analysis. The regression results reveal aside from the high temperature and large temperature variance, the inverter under-sizing problem is also a significant factor that could influence the lifetime of inverters. Meanwhile, further applications and potential future directions for the proposed work are explored.

Until recently, efficient policy iteration algorithms for zero-sum Markov games that converge were unknown. Therefore, model-based RL algorithms for such problems could not use policy iteration in the planning modules of the algorithms. In an earlier paper, we showed that a convergent policy iteration algorithm can be obtained by using a commonly used technique in RL called lookahead. However, the algorithm could be applied to the function approximation setting only in the special case of linear MDPs (Markov Decision Processes). In this paper, we obtain performance bounds for policy-based RL algorithms for general settings, including one where policy evaluation is performed using noisy samples of (state, action, reward) triplets from a single sample path of a given policy.
In this paper, we address the challenge of Nash equilibrium (NE) seeking in non-cooperative convex games with partial-decision information. We propose a distributed algorithm, where each agent refines its strategy thr...

Annapoorna is a tele-operated robot to deliver food, water, and medicines to COVID patients in isolation wards. It is equipped with a telemedicine facility for doctors and nurses to interact with patients remotely. This greatly reduces direct contact of doctors, nurses, and food service staff with patients during COVID or other pandemic times, thereby reducing infection risk. The battery powered robot reaches each bedside to serve food and medicines to the patients in isolation wards. The robot can be controlled by smartphone app or wireless joystick controller. The tablet attached at the top of the robot serves dual purpose. The doctors and nurses can interact with the patient with any online meeting portals like Skype, Google Hangout, Zoom etc. In addition, the operator can control the robot using the tablet camera there by saving additional cost for the camera.

This research presents a novel method to differentiate the bonding quality of a MEMS chip to a silicon substrate by using bulk acoustic wave (BAW) transducer arrays to determine the GHz ultrasonic wave transmission through the bonding interface. Prior to bonding, one-port S-parameter measurements were conducted on the array device at the wafer level to determine the mean resonance frequency (1.487 GHz) and standard deviation (33.8 MHz). The MEMS chip was then bonded to a silicon substrate using Au-AuSn bonding at a temperature <300°C, and confocal scanning acoustic microscopy (CSAM) was used to verify the bond uniformity. The bonding completion was evaluated by exciting the MEMS transducers with an RF signal of 80 ns width centered at 1.47 GHz to generate a packet of bulk acoustic waves and assess the reflected echo signals. Finite element (FE) time-domain simulations were carried out for the 2D-array to analyze the pattern and peak-to-peak amplitudes of the first four echoes, as visual inspection alone was insufficient to confirm bonding. The simulation results revealed a unique signature that indicated bonding completion: the third-echo amplitude became larger than the second-echo when the bonding percentage was >70%, due to constructive interference of ultrasonic waves reflected from the bonding interface and the substrate bottom. For fully bonded cases, the fourth echo became larger or comparable to the second echo, and first echo levels diminish by at least 20%. Electro-acoustic measurements were performed before and after bonding to confirm these distinctive signatures and categorize the devices as fully bonded, partially bonded, or unbonded.

Two-dimensional van der Waals(2D vdW)material-based heterostructure devices have been widely studied for high-end electronic applications owing to their heterojunction *** this study,we demonstrate graphene(Gr)-bridge heterostructure devices consisting of laterally series-connected ambipolar semiconductor/Gr-bridge/n-type molybdenum disulfide as a channel material for field-effect transistors(FET).Unlike conventional FET operation, our Gr-bridge devices exhibit nonclassical transfer characteristics(humped transfer curve),thus possessing a negative differential *** phenomena are interpreted as the operating behavior in two series-connected FETs,and they result from the gate-tunable contact capacity of the Gr-bridge ***-value logic inverters and frequency tripler circuits are successfully demonstrated using ambipolar semiconductors with narrow-and wide-bandgap materials as more advanced circuit applications based on non-classical transfer ***,we believe that our innovative and straightforward device structure engineering will be a promising technique for future multi-functional circuit applications of 2D nanoelectronics.
