In this paper, an efficient multilevel kernel degeneration and adaptive cross approximation (MLKD-ACA) algorithm solver is proposed. The MLKD-ACA algorithm compresses the low-rank off-diagonal matrix blocks in far block interactions which are achieved by subdividing the target object into blocks hierarchically. With the butterfly algorithm, the hybrid method of integral kernel degeneration and ACA algorithms improves the performance of the single level hybrid algorithm. The numerical experiment shows that the MLKD-ACA algorithm solver works well for analyzing the eddy current problems. © 2022 IEEE.

This work presents a power-efficient latticebased crypto-processor for IoT edge devices supporting both homomorphic encryption (HE) and post-quantum cryptography (PQC) algorithms. The chip incorporates a reconfigurable architecture on a unified number system to effectively reduce the size of modulo index. It also employs a power-efficient modular arithmetic block and a scheduling for pipelined processing. The implemented chip in 28 nm CMOS achieves the state-of-the-art power efficiencies both in HE and PQC.

When a biped robot walks at a high speed, only relying on the open-loop gait trajectory based on the linear inverted pendulum model (LIPM), the robot cannot maintain stability. Sudden contact with the ground when landing may cause the robot to be unstable. Simultaneously, when the robot walks faster, the horizontal position of the center of mass (CoM) varies greatly during a walk cycle, and the expected CoM trajectory cannot be accurately tracked, resulting in a deviation from the zero-moment point (ZMP). Aiming at the above situation that may occur in fast walking, a whole-body compliance controller with emphasis on making robot’s walking more stable and faster is presented in this paper. The whole-body compliance controller consists of three parts: the CoM compliance controller, the vertical compliance controller and the foot compliance controller, which are used to improve the tracking effect of CoM, reduce the force impact of foot, and adjust the posture of the foot respectively. The simulation results show that with the whole-body compliance controller proposed in this paper, the tracking accuracy of the CoM becomes better, the posture of the robot is more stable during walking, and the landing compliance during landing are greatly improved. Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) show great promise in the realm of 6th generation (6G) wireless systems, particularly in the areas of localization and communication. Their cost-effectiveness and energy efficiency enable the integration of numerous passive and reflective elements, enabling near-field propagation. In this paper, we tackle the challenges of RIS-aided 3D localization and synchronization in multipath environments, focusing on the near-field of mmWave systems. Specifically, our approach involves formulating a maximum likelihood (ML) estimation problem for the channel parameters. To initiate this process, we leverage a combination of canonical polyadic decomposition (CPD) and orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) to obtain coarse estimates of the time of arrival (ToA) and angle of departure (AoD) under the far-field approximation. Subsequently, distances are estimated using l1-regularization based on a near-field model. Additionally, we introduce a refinement phase employing the spatial alternating generalized expectation maximization (SAGE) algorithm. Finally, a weighted least squares approach is applied to convert channel parameters into position and clock offset estimates. To extend the estimation algorithm to ultra-large (UL) RIS-assisted localization scenarios, it is further enhanced to reduce errors associated with far-field approximations, especially in the presence of significant near-field effects, achieved by narrowing the RIS aperture. Moreover, the Cramér-Rao Bound (CRB) is derived and the RIS phase shifts are optimized to improve the positioning accuracy. Massive data is written to blockchain systems for the destination of keeping safe. However, existing blockchain protocols still demand that each full node has to contain the entire chain. Most nodes quit because they are unable to grow their storage space with the size of data. As the number of nodes decreases, the security of blockchains would significantly reduce. We present SE-Chain, a novel scale-out blockchain model that improves storage scalability under the premise of ensuring safety and achieves efficient retrieval. The SE-Chain consists of three parts:the data layer, the processing layer and the storage layer. In the data layer, each transaction is stored in the AB-M tree (Adaptive Balanced Merkle tree), which adaptively combines the advantages of balanced binary tree (quick retrieval) and Merkle tree (quick verification). In the processing layer, the full nodes store the part of the complete chain selected by the duplicate ratio regulation algorithm. Meanwhile, the node reliability verification method is used for increasing the stability of full nodes and reducing the risk of imperfect data recovering caused by the reduction of duplicate number in the storage layer. The experimental results on real datasets show that the query time of SE-Chain based on the AB-M tree is reduced by 17% when 16 nodes exist. Overall, SE-Chain improves the storage scalability extremely and implements efficient querying of transactions.

This paper proposes a framework integrating Rate Splitting Multiple Access (RSMA), semantic communications, and generative AI for optimizing next-generation wireless networks. We present a unified model that combines RSMA with semantic communications to enhance both spectral efficiency and semantic fidelity. Our system model focuses on a downlink semantic communication system with a multi-antenna base station serving multiple single-antenna users. A dynamic contract-based incentive mechanism is developed to address user heterogeneity and information asymmetry in semantic RSMA scenarios. We introduce a diffusion model-based approach for joint optimization of resource allocation and contract design in RSMA systems. The semantic encoding process extracts key information, i.e., free-space detection, interest points, object attributes, and spatial relationships, from image data. A loss function is designed to train the semantic encoder and RSMA scheme, incorporating semantic extraction, partitioning, reconstruction, and task specific components. Our framework includes a multi-objective performance evaluation that considers both conventional metrics and semantic accuracy in a multi-user RSMA environment. We also define a multi-component semantic accuracy metric to assess the quality and utility of the extracted semantic information. Extensive simulation results demonstrate the superiority of our proposed framework over existing approaches in terms of system throughput, energy efficiency, and semantic fidelity across various network scenarios and user distributions. © 2015 IEEE.

In this study, a high-capacity freestanding supercapacitor electrode was developed through electrospinning of a Ti₃C₂T_x MXene/Polyaniline (PANI)/Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) composite. MXene/PANI composite was achieved through a facile synthesis in which Ti₃C₂T_x was mixed with PANI Emeraldine salt in N-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidone (NMP) solution using magnetic stirring. PVDF was added to the composite as a flexible binder to facilitate the electrospinning and produce a freestanding electrode. The specific capacitance of the freestanding MXene/PANI/PVDF electrode is 740 Fg^-1 at a scan rate of 2 mVs⁻¹, and 895 Fg^-1 at a charge-discharge current density of 0.5 Ag^-1, which was significantly higher than the specific capacitance of MXene (67 Fg^-1) and PANI (54 Fg^-1) electrospun electrodes. © 2024 The Authors

Stacked intelligent metasurface (SIM) is an emerging design that consists of multiple layers of metasurfaces. A SIM enables holographic multiple-input multiple-output (HMIMO) precoding in the wave domain, which results in the reduction of energy consumption and hardware cost. On the ground of multiuser beamforming, this letter focuses on the downlink achievable rate and its maximization. Contrary to previous works on multiuser SIM, we consider statistical channel state information (CSI) as opposed to instantaneous CSI to overcome challenges such as large overhead. Also, we examine the performance of large surfaces. We apply an alternating optimization (AO) algorithm regarding the phases of the SIM and the allocated transmit power. Simulations illustrate the performance of the considered large SIM-assisted design as well as the comparison between different CSI considerations. © 2024, CC BY.

Recent research endeavors have been dedicated to innovative wireless hardware designs and connection concepts aimed at fulfilling the ambitious objectives of 6th Generation (6G) wireless communications. The inclusion of Terahertz (THz) technology in modern infrastructure holds immense potential for shaping 6G networks, offering amplified throughput, extended coverage, heightened security, and improved positioning while reducing power consumption. The demand for efficient control over THz waves has grown alongside the advancements in wireless domain. Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) have garnered a lot of attention as a means of regulating electromagnetic waves. In this study, we investigate the utilization of a RIS employing graphene-based materials to control THz waves, with a specific focus on enhancing reflection performance and enabling beam steering. Our proposed RIS design entails a periodic array of graphene stacked over a grounded substrate.

Ahstract-A significant aspect of global decarbonization efforts hinges on expanding electric transmission capacity to accommodate renewable energy sources. Within this context, dynamic line rating (DLR) systems for overhead lines present an opportunity to enhance the flexibility of power grids while utilizing existing infrastructure. Specifically, during ice-precipitating conditions, the combined effect of lower ambient temperatures and ice buildup on the conductor aids in maintaining a lower conductor temperature, allowing for increased current flow. This research introduces an innovative approach for estimating line ratings during icing conditions. Unlike previous methods, our approach accurately accounts for temperature variations and incorporates the clouding effect during precipitation events. By addressing these variables, we seek to enhance current methodologies for estimating line ratings in adverse weather conditions. To validate the efficacy of our proposed method, we conduct experiments using real-world weather data and line current measurements under both precipitating and non-precipitating conditions. Through these experiments, we illustrate the effectiveness of our approach in accurately estimating line ratings during icing events, thus improving the reliability and efficiency of power line operations during adverse weather conditions.
