Multimodal sarcasm detection aims to identify whether utterances express sarcastic intentions contrary to their literal meaning based on multimodal information. However, existing methods fail to explore the model's "ability to understand" the semantics expressed by sentences in the image context from semantic diversity perspectives. In this paper, we propose a multi-view semantic awareness method, which concretizes semantics from multiple perspectives to improve the model's ability to capture different semantic features. Specifically, two learnable prefixes are attached to the text representation respectively to construct semantic representations from both the literal meaning and sarcastic intention perspectives. Then, image-text information is further fused through cross-attention to guide the semantic representation of different perspectives in the image context. Finally, the semantics expressed by prefixes are strengthened through KL divergence, thereby encouraging the model to capture two distinctive semantic features. Experiments on benchmark datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. © 2025 IEEE.

ACDR-CRAFF Net: A Multi-Scale Network Based on Adaptive Channel and Coordinate Relational Attention Network for Remote Sensing Scene Classification

Accurate classification of remote sensing scene images is crucial for diverse applications, from environmental monitoring to urban planning. While convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have dramatically improved classification accuracy, challenges remain due to the complex distribution of small objects, varied spatial configurations, and intra-class multimodality in remote sensing images. In this work, we make three key contributions to address these challenges. (1) We propose the adaptive channel and coordinate relational attention network (ACDR-CRAFF), a novel multi-scale feature fusion framework designed to enhance feature representation across scales. (2) We introduce two innovative modules: the adaptive channel dimensionality reduction (ACDR) module, which dynamically adjusts channel representations to retain essential low-dimensional features, and the coordinate relational attention multi-scale feature fusion (CRAFF) module, which effectively captures and transfers spatial information between feature levels. (3) By integrating ACDR and CRAFF, our model achieves a progressive fusion of local to global features, ensuring robust feature expressiveness at multiple scales. Experimental results on four widely used benchmark datasets demonstrate that ACDR-CRAFF consistently outperforms several state-of-the-art methods, achieving significant improvements in classification accuracy and setting a new benchmark for complex remote sensing scene classification tasks. These results underscore the effectiveness of our approach in addressing the limitations of existing methods and advancing the state of the art in remote sensing image analysis. © 2025 The Author(s). This study introduces a novel methodology designed to facilitate the capture of comprehensive image datasets, crucial for accurate 3D modeling of expansive indoor spaces. Leveraging orthophotos generated from panoramic camera data and visualizing image coverage density through heatmaps, our approach effectively identifies under-captured and unvisited areas. This enables targeted image acquisition, minimizes redundant reshoots, and enhances the overall quality and fidelity of 3D models.

In the digital age, protecting the security and privacy of sensitive data has become of the utmost importance, particularly while conducting online financial transactions. This paper intends to build an advanced hybrid cryptography model, combining the strengths of the Rivest-Shamir-Adleman (RSA) and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithms, to improve the authentication and security procedures of online banking systems. To provide a strong and effective encryption framework, the suggested model makes use of RSA’s asymmetric key advantages and AES’s symmetric key capabilities. Because AES is quick and efficient at encrypting large amounts of data, it is used to optimize performance while encrypting the actual data being transmitted. Meanwhile, RSA is used to solve the problem of key distribution, secure the exchange of symmetric keys, and enable secure communication. The goal of the paper is to create an extensive system that incorporates this improved hybrid cryptography model into the online banking authentication procedure. User authentication, transaction verification, and data secrecy are the system’s three main building blocks. To ensure the viability and feasibility of the suggested paradigm in real-world online banking scenarios, implementation difficulties such as key management, algorithm integration, and performance optimization are addressed. This research advances cryptographic methods of contemporary banking security by utilizing the advantages of AES and RSA in a hybrid approach. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

DEGSTalk: Decomposed Per-Embedding Gaussian Fields for Hair-Preserving Talking Face Synthesis

Accurately synthesizing talking face videos and capturing fine facial features for individuals with long hair presents a significant challenge. To tackle these challenges in existing methods, we propose a decomposed per-embedding Gaussian fields (DEGSTalk), a 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS)-based talking face synthesis method for generating realistic talking faces with long hairs. Our DEGSTalk employs Deformable Pre-Embedding Gaussian Fields, which dynamically adjust pre-embedding Gaussian primitives using implicit expression coefficients. This enables precise capture of dynamic facial regions and subtle expressions. Additionally, we propose a Dynamic Hair-Preserving Portrait Rendering technique to enhance the realism of long hair motions in the synthesized videos. Results show that DEGSTalk achieves improved realism and synthesis quality compared to existing approaches, particularly in handling complex facial dynamics and hair preservation. The controlled vapor-phase synthesis of two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) is essential for functional applications. While chemical vapor deposition (CVD) techniques have been successful for transition metal sulfides, extending these methods to selenides and tellurides often faces challenges due to uncertain roles of hydrogen (H2) in their synthesis. Using CVD growth of MoSe2 as an example, this study illustrates the role of a H2-free environment during temperature ramping in suppressing the reduction of MoO3, which promotes effective vaporization and selenization of the Mo precursor to form MoSe2 monolayers with excellent crystal quality. As-synthesized MoSe2 monolayer-based field-effect transistors show excellent carrier mobility of up to 20.9 cm2/(V·s) with an on-off ratio of 7 × 107. This approach can be extended to other TMDs, such as WSe2, MoTe2, and MoSe2/WSe2 in-plane heterostructures. Our work provides a rational and facile approach to reproducibly synthesize high-quality TMD monolayers, facilitating their translation from laboratory to manufacturing. © 2024 American Chemical Society.

Exceptional point (EP) is a special degeneracy of non-Hermitian systems. One-dimensional transmission systems operating at EPs are widely studied and applied to chiral conversion and sensing. Lately, two-dimensional systems at EPs have been exploited for their exotic scattering features, yet so far been limited to only the non-visible waveband. Here, we report a universal paradigm for achieving a high-efficiency EP in the visible by leveraging interlayer loss to accurately control the interplay between the lossy structure and scattering lightwaves. A bilayer framework is demonstrated to reflect back the incident light from the left side ( | r_(−1) | >0.999) and absorb the incident light from the right side ( | r_(+1) | < 10^(–4)). As a proof of concept, a bilayer metasurface is demonstrated to reflect and absorb the incident light with experimental efficiencies of 88% and 85%, respectively, at 532 nm. Our results open the way for a new class of nanoscale devices and power up new opportunities for EP physics.

Miniaturized spectrometers, owing to their compact dimensions, high sensitivity, and low cost, have been extensively applied in environmental monitoring, biomedical diagnostics, industrial inspection, and other fields. However, conventional miniature spectrometers often face challenges in simultaneously achieving high spectral resolution, miniaturization, and a high degree of integration. As a pivotal component in integrated optics, the Arrayed Waveguide Grating (AWG) possesses advantages such as exceptional resolution, broad spectral bandwidth, and superior integrability, thus serving as a highly effective means for the design and realization of miniature spectrometers. Here, a highly uniform visible light arrayed waveguide grating with a central wavelength of 633nm was designed and fabricated. The device was based on a 300 nm silicon nitride platform, with the waveguide width of 300nm. The beam diverges at the input star coupler, then propagates through the arrayed waveguide, and finally converges on the image plane of the output star coupler. There are 4 output channels with a channel spacing of 10nm, and the spectral resolution is 5nm. This configuration can provide a uniform spectral output with a high stability, making it suitable for applications in the field of spectral analysis. © 2024 SPIE. All rights reserved.

Content-Aware Opportunistic Packet Scheduling with Dynamic Routing Algorithm for Multi-path Video Streaming over Mesh Networks*

Multi-path video streaming over networks emerges as an important application in multimedia communication. Since the efficiency of multi-path video streaming is closely tied to the packet scheduling strategies, in this paper, we develop a content-aware opportunistic packet scheduling scheme with dynamic routing algorithm, which aims to maximize the reconstructed video quality by considering the content diversity of each video packet. To handle the problem of increased reordering delay, a sliding-window-based policy is then developed to find a balance between the reconstructed video quality and the reordering delay, throughout and packet loss. Our extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed packet scheduling scheme significantly outperforms EDPF and achieves a good tradeoff between the reconstructed video quality and the reordering time at the receiver side.

Cross-database facial expression recognition (CD-FER) has been widely studied due to its promising applicability in real-life situations, while the generalization performance is the main concern in this task. For improving cross-database generalization, current works frequently resort to masked auto encoder (MAE) to learn the expression representation in an unsupervised manner, and disentanglement of expression and domain features. (i) For MAE, current algorithms mainly employ random masking, and leverage the reconstruction of these masked regions to enable networks to learn the expression representation. However, these masked regions are expression-irrelevant, can not well reflect the characteristics of expression, thus are not efficient enough in representation learning. To this end, we propose an expression-aware masking in MAE to improve the learning efficiency of expression representation, by guiding MAE to mask out expression-aware regions during training. (ii) For disentanglement of expression and domain features, current algorithms realize it mainly in the deep layers. However, the coupling of these features in the shallow layers are rarely concerned, which may largely affect the disentanglement performance in deep layers. Thus, we propose a progressive decoupler to disentangle these features block by block, to use the feature disentanglement in shallow layers to facilitate that in deep layers. Extensive quantitative and qualitative results on multiple expression datasets show that our method can largely outperform the state of the arts in terms of cross-database generalization performance.
