Conceptualization and implementation of computer supported teaching and training is currently not tailored to the paradigm of learner centration. Many technical solutions lack transparency and consistency regarding the supported learner activities. An insight into learners activities correlated to learning tasks is needed. In this paper we outline recent developments in university's higher education concepts. We introduce InterLect as a tool to observe student's activities in lecture content acquisition and describe first insights and questions derived using this tool in a lecture scenario. Based on a new understanding of activity transformation cycles, an elaborated didactical design is modeled, which allows to address and observe learning activities. Ideas for a valid evaluation process are derived in order to investigate efficiency of the digital tool within the didactical framework.

Spiral Architecture (SA) is a relatively new and powerful approach to machine vision system. The geometrical arrangement of pixels on SA can be described as a collection of hexagonal pixels. However, all the existing hardware for capturing image and for displaying image are produced based on rectangular architecture. Therefore, it becomes important to find a proper software approach to mimic SA so that images represented on the traditional square structure can be smoothly converted from or to the images on SA. For accurate image processing, it is critical to best maintain the image resolution during the image conversion. In this paper, we present an algorithm for bilinear interpolation of pixel values on a simulated SA. Our experimental results show that the bilinear interpolation improves the image representation accuracy while keeping the computation simple.

The main goal of this paper is to describe the technical aspects of our generic approach for domain-specific model analysis. Our framework supports checks and information retrieval for a set of models which may be based on different notations and tools. Such a modelling scenario is typical for the analysis of clinical processes, where techniques of process modelling (e.g. Aris) are combined with techniques of IT-landscape modelling (e.g. using the 3LGM). All elements defined and used in the models under consideration are saved in a common repository based on a common meta model. The method supports the user during the modelling and the analysis phase. Support for the latter is achieved by providing aggregated information on model elements based on queries and views, which can be considered as model cross sections corresponding to given aspects. We present an architecture, a prototypical realization and the technologies used in our implementation. The architecture is modular, used technologies and software are open, thus the tool is easy to extend.

Active modeling is required in learning settings to cope with the dynamic evolution of the knowledge, since learners competences evolves over time as they participate in the course activities. Moreover, one of the main issues in a competence based eLearning process is to deliver personalized instructional designs adjusted to both 1) intrinsic characteristics of users (i.e. learning styles) and 2) the desired and achieved competences in the learning process (i.e. specific and generic competences). This delivery includes the adaptation of the content and the activities in a learning scenario based on a dynamic user model that evolves according to user interactions. In this paper, an approach to support Conditional Plans Generation (IMS Learning Designs) in the context of a virtual learning environment is presented The process is supported by a pervasive usage of standards and specifications (IMS family of specifications) in conjunction with an integral user modeling.
