A multistage intrusion detection method for alleviating class overlapping problem

Intrusion detection system (IDS) can identify abnormal network traffic and attacks, which is an important means of network security defense. However, some intrusion data are often disguised as normal data for transmission, which increases the difficulty of intrusion data classification. In addition, the existing packet-based or flow-based data feature extraction methods result in low feature dimensions, causing the problem of class overlapping between different categories with the same features. To clarify, overlapping samples are those that overlap between erroneous samples and correct samples. Nonoverlapping samples are those in the test set that do not match the characteristics of the already identified overlapping samples and are therefore considered nonoverlapping samples. Therefore, the detection effect of some attacks with high concealment is poor. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a multistage intrusion detection method: an existing intrusion detection model with higher classification performance (OBLR) is used to predict the data in the first stage. In the second stage, for the overlapping data in the confusing data, the method learns the distribution of each feature group according to the randomly divided "intermediary set," and realizes the prediction of overlapping samples through the prior distribution knowledge, and achieves efficient classification of overlapping samples without increasing the computational burden of the model. For nonoverlapping data in the confusing data, KPCA (kernel principal component analysis) dimension elevation is used in the third stage to capture more detailed difference information between samples, and GMM (Gaussian mixed model) is combined with the "representative samples" proposed in this paper to assist classifier classification. As edge computing becomes an increasingly important computing model, trust management and security issues are becoming more severe. Problems such as malicious node attacks and trust isolation pose threats to the security and stability of edge computing environments. Therefore, designing an efficient and secure trust management mechanism is imperative. This paper proposes a trust collaboration technology for edge computing, addressing trust isolation and security issues through a unified trust value calculation method and blockchain technology. The designed trust management model evaluates the identity, capability, and behavior of terminal nodes using static and dynamic trust measurements. A consortium blockchain stores trust information to ensure immutability and efficient sharing. Simulation experiments validate the scheme's effectiveness in countering malicious node attacks, improving task completion rates, and reducing system risks. Fault diagnosis of rotating machinery driven by induction motors has received increasing attention. Current diagnostic methods, which can be performed on existing inverters or current transformers of three-phase induction machines, have become a more economical and reliable alternative to vibration diagnostic methods. Existing references mainly focus on the stator current analysis of single-phase, but most single-phase current analysis methods utilize only a fraction of the total information accessible in the three-phase system. Field experience shows that zero-sequence current (ZSC) has more distinctive fault characteristics compared to single-phase current, and therefore it is better to use in mechanical fault detection and diagnostic tasks. This article proposes a novel sparse learning-based method for ZSC analysis for induction rotating motor drive fault diagnosis. First, it elaborates and compares the effectiveness of ZSC in revealing fault characteristics compared with single-phase current by analyzing the fault diagnosis mechanism of ZSC. In addition, the method proposes a correlation entropy-enhanced sparse learning method for the problem of high-frequency noise and interference in the ZSC signals, so as to enhance the learning of the features of the noise-containing signals. The diagnostic efficacy of the proposed method has been verified through experiments on two real datasets. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

We introduce a method to evaluate the similarities between classes of objects based on the confusion matrices coming from the multi-class machine learning (ML) predictors that operate in the vector space generated by the classes. Operation in the confusion domain allows us to use the distance as evaluation metric of the closeness of the relevant properties carried by the classes. We applied the method to semiquantitatively evaluate the effects of X-ray and carbon ion radiation on cultured SW1353 chondrosarcoma cells with respect to the non-irradiated reference. Digital pathology allows for the efficient storage and advanced computational analysis of stained histopathological slides of various tissues. Tissue segmentation is a crucial first step of digital pathology aimed at eliminating background, pen markings, and other artifacts, reducing image size, and increasing the efficiency of further analysis. In most cases, color thresholding or deep learning models are used, but their effectiveness is reduced due to complex artifacts and huge color variations between slides. We propose a post processing method to increase the tissue segmentation performance of any initial segmentation algorithm. Using a set of 197 manually annotated histopathological images of breast cancer patients and 63 images of endometrial cancer patients, we tested our method with 3 thresholding techniques and 3 deep learning-based algorithms by calculating the Dice index, Jaccard index, precision, and recall. In both datasets, applying post processing increased precision and recall for thresholding methods and mostly precision for deep learning models. Overall, applying post-processing gave better tissue segmentation performance than initial segmentation methods, significantly increasing Dice and Jaccard indices. Our results proved that thanks to post-processing, the tissue segmentation pipeline is more robust to noises and artifacts commonly present in histopathological images. © 2025 by SCITEPRESS– Science and Technology Publications, Lda.

Multiphase LLC Resonant Converter with Natural Current Sharing and Phase-Shedding

The multiphase LLC converter is commonly used for high-power and high step-down applications. However, the tolerances in the tank circuit parameters cause uneven current sharing (CS), reducing system reliability. Additionally, phase-shedding (PS) can improve converter efficiency at partial load by turning-OFF phases. This paper proposes a multiphase input-parallel output-parallel LLC resonant converter with a common inductor-capacitor branch, with the objective to achieve excellent CS and phase-shedding at the same time. Thanks to the shared branch, current-sharing is natural, and phase-shedding is realized without affecting the operating point. With fewer passive comp- onents and a simple phase connection, the design offers low-cost, high-power density, and improved light-load efficiency compared to existing solutions. Detailed analysis shows improved CS on both the primary and secondary sides, when compared to previous approaches. Simulation and experimental results for the proposed two-phase LLC resonant converter validate the analysis and illustrate the effectiveness of the CS and PS capabilities. At the rated load of 800 W, CS error is 2.48% on the primary side and 2.0% on the secondary side. Phase-shedding improves efficiency by 3.60% at 50% load and 6.82% at 25% load. © 1972-2012 IEEE.

Quantum computing is progressing at a fast rate and there is a real threat that classical cryptographic methods can be compromised and therefore impact the security of blockchain networks. All of the ways used to secure blockchain like Rivest–Shamir–Adleman (RSA), Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) and Secure Hash Algorithm 256-bit (SHA256) are the characteristic of the traditional cryptographic techniques vulnerable to attack by quantum algorithms: Shor’s and Grover’s algorithms: can efficiently break asymmetric encryption and speed up brute force attacks. Because of this vulnerability, there exists a need to develop an advance quantum resilient blockchain framework to protect the decentralized ledgers from the future threats of the quantum. This research proposes Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Quantum Random Number Generation (QRNG) as a formidable architectural integration, to fortify security of blockchain. Classical encryption is replaced with PQC, QKD with secure key exchange by detecting eavesdropping, and QRNG with improving cryptographic randomness to remove the predictable key vulnerability. Only with a small loss of transaction efficiency, we increase transaction encryption accuracy, key exchange security, and resistance to quantum attacks. In this quantum enhanced blockchain design, the idea is to preserve the decentralization, transparency and security and at the same time overcome the future quantum threat. By going through rigorous analysis and comparative evaluation, we demonstrate that the approach saves blockchain networks from the emerging quantum risks to make sure that the decentralized finance, smart contracts and cross chain transactions. © (2025), (Science and Information Organization). In this paper, Fault Tolerant control (FTC) for fractional-order systems (FOS) has not received as much attention in the literature as it has for standard integer-order systems. This work aims to bridge that gap. We propose a practical approach to fault estimation and fault-tolerant control (FTC) specifically designed for linear (FOS) with sensor failures. Our method leverages fractional exponential stability within the Lyapunov framework and employs the Conformable formulation of fractional derivatives. Notably, the primary contribution of this paper is the first application of the Conformable fractional derivative (CFD) in the context of (FTC). To accurately estimate states and faults, the proposed approach utilizes an observer coupled with a customized adaptation law. To validate our theoretical contributions, we present a detailed simulation of a numerical case study.

Stability Analysis of Connected Vehicle Platoons with Markovian Packet Losses

This article focuses on discussing the effects of inter-vehicular communication on the performance of platoon control. Different from the existing results established under a critical assumption that the fading channels are independent, this paper models the inter-vehicular communication as Markovian packet loss channel which can capture the temporal interdependencies of packet losses. Our aim is to decide whether there exists a distributed controller such that the underlying vehicle platoon can achieve mean square stability (MSS) over Markovian packet loss channels. First, for the scenario with identical Markovian packet losses, we begin by deriving a necessary and sufficient condition for the platoon MSS, which is established by utilizing the stability principles of Markov jump linear systems. Additionally, we propose a numerically verifiable criterion for MSS, which can be validated through the feasibility of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Furthermore, based on the modified Riccati inequality (MRI), we provide an analytical sufficient condition that ensures MSS for vehicle platoons. This condition is expressed in terms of the information flow topology (IFT) and the statistical parameters of Markov channels. Second, for the case with nonidentical packet dropouts, we introduce a Markovian loss channel based switching (MLCBS) model. Building upon this model, we further propose a sufficient conditon related to IFT and the transition probability matrix, and a distributed controller that is not only easy to implement but also enables the achievement of MSS for vehicle platoons with nonidentical packet dropouts. Ultimately, numerical experiments are performed to validate the obtained outcomes. © 2014 IEEE.
