Multisensor fusion estimation of nonlinear systems with intermittent observations and heavy-tailed noises

Inspired by the robust student t-distribution based nonlinear filter(RSTNF), a student tdistribution and unscented transform(UT) based filter for state estimation of heavy-tailed nonlinear dynamic systems, a modified RSTNF for intermittent observations is derived. The fusion estimation for nonlinear multisensor systems with intermittent observations and heavy-tailed measurement and process noises is *** this work, the centralized fusion, the sequential fusion, and the na¨?ve distributed fusion algorithms are presented, respectively. Theoretical analysis shows that the presented algorithms are effective, which are the efficient extension of the classical unscented Kalman filter(UKF) or the cubature Kalman filter(CKF) based algorithms with Gaussian noises. Simulation results show that the presented algorithms are effective and feasible.

Opacity is an important information-flow security property which characterizes the plausible deniability of certain “secret behaviors” in dynamical systems. In this paper, we study the problem of synthesizing controllers enforcing a notion of opacity over discrete-time control systems with continuous state sets. In this paper, we develop an abstraction-based approach to tackle the controller synthesis problem. Specifically, we adopt a notion of approximate opacity which is suitable for continuous-space control systems. We propose a notion of approximate initial-state opacity preserving alternating simulation relation which characterizes the closeness between two systems in terms of opacity preservation. We show that, based on this new notion of system relation, one can synthesize an opacity-enforcing controller for the abstract system which is finite and then refine it back to enforce opacity over the original control system. Finally, we present a method for constructing opacity-preserving finite abstractions for discrete-time control systems under some stability properties. Our results are illustrated on a two-room temperature control problem.

RoboDesign1M: A Large-scale Dataset for Robot Design Understanding

Robot design is a complex and time-consuming process that requires specialized expertise. Gaining a deeper understanding of robot design data can enable various applications, including automated design generation, retrieving example designs from text, and developing AI-powered design assistants. While recent advancements in foundation models present promising approaches to addressing these challenges, progress in this field is hindered by the lack of large-scale design datasets. In this paper, we introduce RoboDesign1M, a large-scale dataset comprising 1 million samples. Our dataset features multimodal data collected from scientific literature, covering various robotics domains. We propose a semi-automated data collection pipeline, enabling efficient and diverse data acquisition. To assess the effectiveness of RoboDesign1M, we conduct extensive experiments across multiple tasks, including design image generation, visual question answering about designs, and design image retrieval. The results demonstrate that our dataset serves as a challenging new benchmark for design understanding tasks and has the potential to advance research in this field. Learning-guided iterated local search for the minmax multiple traveling salesman problem

The minmax multiple traveling salesman problem involves minimizing the longest tour among a set of tours. The problem is of great practical interest because it can be used to formulate several real-life applications. To solve this computationally challenging problem, we propose a leaning-driven iterated local search approach that combines an aggressive local search procedure with a probabilistic acceptance criterion to find high-quality local optimal solutions and a multi-armed bandit algorithm to select various removal and insertion operators to escape local optimal traps. Extensive experiments on 77 commonly used benchmark instances show that our algorithm achieves excellent results in terms of solution quality and running time. In particular, it achieves 32 new best-known results and matches the best-known results for 35 other instances. Additional experiments shed light on the understanding of the composing elements of the algorithm. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

A Learning-Based Adaptive Compliance Method for Symmetric Bi-Manual Manipulation

Symmetric bi-manual manipulation is an essential skill in on-orbit operations due to its potent load capacity. Previous works have applied compliant control to maintain the stability of manipulations. However, traditional methods have viewed motion planning and compliant control as two separate modules, which can lead to conflicts with the simultaneous change of the desired trajectory and impedance parameters in the presence of external forces and disturbances. Additionally, the joint usage of these two modules requires experts to manually adjust parameters. To achieve high efficiency while enhancing adaptability, we propose a novel Learning-based Adaptive Compliance algorithm (LAC) that improves the efficiency and robustness of symmetric bi-manual manipulation. Specifically, the algorithm framework integrates desired trajectory generation and impedance-parameter adjustment under a unified framework to mitigate contradictions and improve efficiency. Second, we introduce a centralized Actor-Critic framework with LSTM networks preprocessing the force states, enhancing the synchronization of bi-manual manipulation. When evaluated in dual-arm cooperative handling and peg-in-hole assembly experiments, our method outperforms baseline algorithms in terms of optimality and robustness. © 2024, The Authors. In the line loss management of power grid power supply companies, there are problems such as incomplete line loss indicators, unreasonable indicator weights, and strong subjective preferences. To solve these problems, we constructed a line loss indicator system, used the idea of game theory to combine subjective weights and objective weights, and used the TOPSIS method to study the line loss management of power supply companies. Among them, the G1 method was used to determine the subjective weight, without consistency checking, which is concise and efficient. The objective weights were determined by the CRITIC method, which took into account not only the intensity of comparison among indicators but also the conflict of each indicator. The experimental results showed that the game combination weighting had a more accurate and objective indicator weight value, and the TOPSIS method could optimize the line loss more comprehensively. © 2021 IEEE.

Event-triggered control has attracted considerable attention for its effectiveness in resource-restricted applications. To make event-triggered control as an end-to-end solution, a key issue is how to effectively learn unknown system dynamics from event-triggered measurements and consequently, develop a learning-based event-triggered controller. Existing works learn system dynamics based on periodic time-triggered measurements, and it is yet to know how to learn a controller with performance guarantee based on event-triggered measurements. To address this issue, we consider the problem of learning an event-triggered state feedback controller for an unknown linear system based on event-triggered state measurements in this work. In particular, we first analyze the event-triggered measurements within a set-membership framework. We prove that the estimation error belongs to a bounded ellipsoid determined by the historical measurements and the event-triggering condition. Subsequently, we demonstrate that all admissible systems compatible with the collected data samples can be explicitly represented in the form of quadratic matrix inequalities using the state estimates. With the acquired set of admissible systems, a co-design problem for the data-driven controller and event-triggering condition is solved using the linear matrix inequality technique, with guaranteed closed-loop stability and L2-gain performance. Finally, numerical examples and comparisons are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed event-triggered learning and control approach. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

During the coal seam drilling process, the drill string is subject to compressive deformation, compounded by unpredictable variations in formation hardness and borehole wall friction, leading to challenges in maintaining a stable feeding speed. This paper presents a novel approach by introducing uncertain parameters to describe the effects of formation hardness and borehole wall friction. Drill string axial movement model is modeled as a polyhedral system based on a lumped parameter representation. To meet industrial performance requirements, we design a robust $H_{\infty}$ controller to achieve consistent feeding speed control. Our simulation results demonstrate the controller's effectiveness in ensuring system stability despite fluctuations in formation hardness and drill string friction.

As China's steel production accounts for an increasing share of the world's output, the intelligent transformation of the steel industry is becoming increasingly urgent. To address issues such as low levels of mobile informationization in steel enterprises and the lack of an industry-specific mobile application platform, it is of great significance to establish a shared mobile application platform for the steel industry. In this paper, the requirements of the platform were analyzed, and the platform's functions were designed. The software design of the platform was then carried out, and the entire mobile application sharing platform was developed, effectively improving the production management efficiency of steel enterprises. The results indicate that the platform can effectively meet the needs of steel enterprises and has significant engineering significance.

Cancer-associated biomarker genes play an indispensable role in the intricate tapestry of cancer development and manifestation. The expression of biomarkers in different types of tumor cells has beneficial implications for shedding light on the development of various cancers, guiding clinical diagnosis, and treatment. Microarray technology enables the expression levels of thousands of genes in samples to be sequenced simultaneously. However, sparse and high-dimensional microarray data present a formidable challenge in identifying biomarker genes. This study presents EREF-NSGA2, a novel method for cancer biomarker selection from microarray data, employing a hybrid gene selection approach. Firstly, the combination of the wrapper and embedded gene selection methods is proposed to filter the microarray data, which efficiently decreases the search space of the algorithm. After that, the improved NSGA-II algorithm is used to search the genes subset obtained from the previous step to reach the optimal subset of cancer biomarker genes. The proposed EREF-NSGA2 is compared with other reported methods on six cancer benchmark gene expression datasets. A detailed biological analysis is performed to analyze the relationship between the selected genes and the cancer data sets they belong to. To summarize, EREF-NSGA2 proves its effectiveness in selecting a feature subset comprising the fewest genes while maintaining the highest classification accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.
