Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) offer the benefits of high torque density and a superior power factor. Nevertheless, the challenge lies in the inherent difficulty of adjusting the permanent magnet flux. To address this issue, this paper analyzes the influence of electromagnetic parameters on the constant-power speed range (CPSR). First, the analysis focuses on the influence of d-axis inductance and saliency ratio, aiming to establish a design method for achieving a wide CPSP in PMSMs. Second, based on the electromagnetic parameter requirements, a reverse-salient PMSM is proposed and its working principle is explained. Finally, the electromagnetic characteristics, including torque and the CPSP, are determined through the application of the finite element method (FEM). The obtained results confirm that the reverse-salient PMSM achieves a CPSP of 7:1, thus validating the accuracy of the theoretical analysis. © 2023 IEEE.

Intersection detection plays a crucial role in localizing and planning the path of autonomous vehicles in urban environments. This paper presents a novel approach, PVWO, for adaptive intersection detection in autonomous vehicles equipped with 3D LiDAR. Firstly, the algorithm removes ground and obstacles effectively, and eliminates noise points. Secondly, a polyarticular viewpoints beam model is applied to detect the type and location of intersections. Thirdly, a linear feature extraction approach in a rolling window is proposed to detect road width and optimize key parameters, enhancing model robustness across different scenes. Compared to parallel intersection detection algorithms, our method exhibits excellent performance under diverse road conditions. Experiments in sparse point clouds show an average precision exceeding 89% and an average processing time of approximately 88 ms/frame. These results demonstrate that our method can accurately detect intersections in real-time, across various road structures. © Beijing HIWING Scientific and Technological Information institute 2024.

Few-shot semantic segmentation aims at training a model that can segment novel classes in a query image with only a few densely annotated support *** remains a challenge because of large intra-class variations between the support and query *** approaches utilize 4D convolutions to mine semantic correspondence between the support and query ***,they still suffer from heavy computation,sparse correspondence,and large *** propose axial assembled correspondence network(AACNet)to alleviate these *** key point of AACNet is the proposed axial assembled 4D kernel,which constructs the basic block for semantic correspondence encoder(SCE).Furthermore,we propose the deblurring equations to provide more robust correspondence for the aforementioned SCE and design a novel fusion module to mix correspondences in a learnable *** on PASCAL-5~i reveal that our AACNet achieves a mean intersection-over-union score of 65.9%for 1-shot segmentation and 70.6%for 5-shot segmentation,surpassing the state-of-the-art method by 5.8%and 5.0%respectively.

In modern industrial cyber-physical systems, a mass of process variables has been obtained by the high-sampling online sensors. Meanwhile, the key quality indexes are usually obtained infrequently from the laboratory. Hence, these quality variables are with low sampling rate. To avail of the complete process and quality variables with various sampling rates in the dynamic processes, a set of semi-supervised dynamic latent variable models are proposed for dynamic modeling and quality-relevant monitoring. The proposed models have built a unified structure to consider both the auto-correlations and cross-correlations between the process and quality variables with unbalanced sampling sizes. Hence, the feature extraction of the time series data is dynamically adjusted under the guidance of the quality variables. Then, the quality-relevant monitoring schemes are proposed, which is validated by a numerical case and an actual wastewater treatment process. © 2024 IEEE. All rights reserved.

Skin cancer poses a serious global health challenge, where timely and precise diagnosis is essential to improve patient outcomes. Recently, neural networks have proven to be highly effective tools for automated skin cancer classification, significantly advancing the field of dermatology. This paper introduces a novel approach to generate edge maps from dermoscopic images using a holistically nested edge detector model. These edge maps enhance the detection of shape and symmetry irregularities, which are key indicators of malignancy, and improve the focus on relevant regions of interest. We then propose an edge-guided dual-branch neural network, called EDB-Net, for the classification task. Branch 1 handles edge maps, while Branch 2 processes original dermoscopic images. To highlight significant regions and focus on specific lesion areas, we incorporate a novel channel-spatial synergistic attention block within Branch 2. Additionally, we introduce a unique strategy to modulate the generated attention maps using edge features extracted from the edge maps in Branch 1, creating edge-guided features that refine the overall feature representation. In the final stage, both edge-guided and attention-aided features are combined, producing more distinct and contextually relevant outputs, thereby significantly enhancing classification performance. Our model achieves accuracies of 0.927 and 0.848 on the challenging HAM10000 and ISIC 2016 datasets, respectively, without employing any data augmentation. Instruction-Following Language Models (IFLMs) are the state-of-the-art for solving many downstream tasks. Given their widespread use, there is an urgent need to measure whether the sentences they generate contain toxic information or social biases. In this paper, we propose Prompt Association Test for the Italian language (ItaP-AT): a new resource for testing the presence of social bias in different domains in IFLMs. This work also aims to understand whether it is possible to make the responses of these models more fair by using context learning, using "one-shot anti-stereotypical prompts". © 2024 CEUR-WS. Adaptive Prescribed-Time Neural control of Nonlinear Systems via Dynamic Surface Technique

The adaptive practical prescribed-time (PPT) neural control is studied for multiinput multioutput (MIMO) nonlinear systems with unknown nonlinear functions and unknown input gain matrices. Unlike existing PPT design schemes based on backstepping, this study proposes a novel PPT control framework using the dynamic surface control (DSC) approach. First, a novel nonlinear filter (NLF) with an adaptive parameter estimator and a piecewise function is constructed to effectively compensate for filter errors and facilitate prescribed-time convergence. Based on this, a unified DSC-based adaptive PPT control algorithm, augmented with a neural networks (NNs) approximator, is developed, where NNs are used to approximate unknown nonlinear system functions. This algorithm not only addresses the inherent computational complexity explosion associated with traditional backstepping methods but also reduces the constraints on filter design parameters compared to the DSC algorithm that relies on linear filters. The simulation showcases the effectiveness and superiority of the devised scheme by employing a two-degree-of-freedom robot manipulator. © 2024 IEEE.
