The reaction kinetic realizations of nonnegative polynomial systems are studied in this paper. It is briefly reviewed that a wide class of positive systems can be written in or simply transformed to kinetic form. Based on the structure of kinetic realizations, valuable information can be obtained about the dynamical properties of the investigated systems using the results of chemical reaction network theory (CRNT). Since the realizations of a given system can have many different structures, mixed integer linear programming is used to generate the ones with required properties (i.e. the minimal/maximal number of reactions or complexes).

A control method for small domestic power plants using renewable energy is described in this paper. This method is not only capable of optimizing the working point of the plant but also implements active power factor correction and lowers the extant harmonic distortion in the line. The novel element in the proposed complex controller structure is the upper harmonic controller that minimizes the amplitudes of the 3rd, 5th 7th, 9th, and the 11th upper harmonic component in the output voltage. The proposed controller has been investigated by simulation in Matlab environment, and as a result, substantial improvement of the output voltage and current waveform could be achieved. Robustness of the method against nonlinear loads has also been tested.

A simple dynamic model of an industrial size synchronous generator operating in a nuclear power plant is developed in this paper based on first engineering principles. The constructed state-space model consists of a nonlinear state equation and a bi-linear output equation. It has been shown that the model is locally asymptotically stable with parameters obtained from the literature for a similar generator. The effect of load disturbances on the partially controlled generator has been analyzed by simulation using a traditional PI controller. It has been found that the controlled system is stable and can follow the set-point changes in the effective power well. The disturbance rejection of the controller is also satisfactory.

Lyapunov-stable nonlinear plants can be approximated by an LTI model in many cases. If this approximation is obtained then it is possible to construct a G2DOF control system. The paper presents a new approach how the important relationships between the actuator, process and design parameters furthermore robustness measures can be determined. In this decomposition method the optimal control design for two-degree of freedom time delay control systems is discussed. Using a proper CAD algorithm the exact relationships can be plotted and the ultimate robustness limit of any control can be explicitly calculated.

A main step in service diagnosis is the selection of dedicated tests for a faulty automotive system in order to decide in which component a fault has occurred. This paper develops a test selection approach that is based on structural models of the system. A structure graph represents the physical couplings of the input, state, and output signals. The test selection method aims at finding operating points in which faults distinguish with respect to their physical input-state-output paths through the components and, thus, can be isolated by steering the system into these operating points. The main ideas are illustrated by a spark ignition engine with the faults of a leakage in the intake manifold and damaged intake valves to be distinguished.

The Tensor Product (TP) model transformation is a recently proposed technique for transforming given Linear Parameter-Varying (LPV) state-space models into polytopic model form, namely, to parameter-varying convex combination of Linear Time Invariant (LTI) systems. The main advantage of the TP model transformation is that it is executable in a straightforward way and the Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) based control design frameworks can immediately be applied to the resulting polytopic models to yield controllers with tractable and guaranteed performance. The main contribution of this paper is that it represents the friction of a DC servo drive in TP model form, automatically designs LMI based controller for friction compensation. The reference signal compensation is also based on the TP model transformation. The results were simulated for speed control of the DC servo drive and were compared to other control techniques.
