Internet-of-things (IoT) is an enabling technology in the fourth generation industrial revolution. An unified performance metric named age of information (AoI) is introduced to quantify the freshness of data and its applications. Thus, this paper study the combination of AoI and full-duplex enabled unmanned aerial vehicle (FD-UAV) as a promising solution to improve latency and spectrum efficiency of a wireless powered sensor network. A sensor node (SN), located ina transport infrastructure, harvests energy from radio frequency signals transmitted by the FD-UAV. This uses to transmit real time sensor observations to the data sink via FD-UAV. The SN generates an update after replenished the battery and transmits by using the harvested energy. A closed-form expression for average AoI (AAoI) is derived as a function of time allocated for energy harvesting (EH). The optimal time allocation for EH that maximizes the freshness of data update is identified. Deep learning algorithms such as Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM) is used to predict the AAoI. Simulation results demonstrate the usefulness performance bounds in-terms of freshness of data updates. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A Survey of Deep Learning Techniques for Misuse-Based Intrusion Detection Systems

The ever-increasing complication and severity of the computer networks' security attacks have inspired security researchers to apply various machine learning methods to protect the organizations' data and reputation. Deep learning is one of the exciting techniques that recently have been widely used by intrusion detection systems (IDS) to secure computer networks and hosts' performance. This survey article focuses on the signature-based IDS using deep learning techniques and puts forward an in-depth survey and classification of these schemes. For this purpose, it first presents the essential background concepts about IDS architecture and various deep learning techniques. It then classifies these schemes according to the type of deep learning methods applied in each of them. It describes how deep learning networks are utilized in the misuse detection process to recognize intrusions accurately. Finally, a complete analysis of the investigated IDS frameworks is provided, and concluding remarks and future directions are highlighted. © 2021, CC BY.

Fatigue driving is one of the main reasons that cause sever accidents. It's necessary to detect fatigue state and warn drivers to avoid life-threatening accidents. There are many related technologies to detect fatigue, some of which based on physiological information or face features. However, biological indicators are difficult to analyze in real-time and the signal sensor is invasive while image-based approaches have relatively strong subjective. Hence, in this paper, a method combined physiological information and face features is employed. We use near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) on behalf of physical states and eye and mouth condition representing face states. Firstly, Multi-Task Convolutional Neural Network (MTCNN) was used to extract image features and then a lightly classifier was designed to recognize the state of face states. Finally, we use Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model to fuse these characters and predict fatigue. Experiment results show that the method proposed have a high accuracy about 95.8% and fast speed about 6.12ms to detect fatigue.

White matter alterations are increasingly implicated in neurological diseases and their progression. International-scale studies use diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DW-MRI) to qualitatively identify changes in white matter microstructure and connectivity. Yet, quantitative analysis of DW-MRI data is hindered by inconsistencies stemming from varying acquisition protocols. Specifically, there is a pressing need to harmonize the preprocessing of DW-MRI datasets to ensure the derivation of robust quantitative diffusion metrics across acquisitions. In the MICCAI-CDMRI 2023 QuantConn challenge, participants were provided raw data from the same individuals collected on the same scanner but with two different acquisitions and tasked with preprocessing the DW-MRI to minimize acquisition differences while retaining biological variation. Harmonized submissions are evaluated on the reproducibility and comparability of cross-acquisition bundle-wise microstructure measures, bundle shape features, and connectomics. The key innovations of the QuantConn challenge are that (1) we assess bundles and tractography in the context of harmonization for the first time, (2) we assess connectomics in the context of harmonization for the first time, and (3) we have 10x additional subjects over prior harmonization challenge, MUSHAC and 100x over SuperMUDI. We find that bundle surface area, fractional anisotropy, connectome assortativity, betweenness centrality, edge count, modularity, nodal strength, and participation coefficient measures are most biased by acquisition and that machine learning voxel-wise correction, RISH mapping, and NeSH methods effectively reduce these biases. In addition, microstructure measures AD, MD, RD, bundle length, connectome density, efficiency, and path length are least biased by these acquisition differences. This work investigates the potential of evolving an initial seed with Grammatical Evolution (GE), for the construction of cryptographically secure (CS) pseudo-random number generator (PRNG). We harness the flexibility of GE as an entropy source for returning initial seeds. The initial seeds returned by GE demonstrate an average entropy value of 7.920261600000001 which is extremely close to the ideal value of 8. The initial seed combined with our proposed approach, control_flow_incrementor, is used to construct both, GE-PRNG and GE-CSPRNG. The random numbers generated with CSPRNG meet the prescribed National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) SP800-22 requirements. Monte Carlo simulations established the efficacy of the PRNG. The experimental setup was designed to estimate the value for pi, in which 100,000,000 random numbers were generated by our system and which resulted in returning the value of pi to 3.146564000, with a precision up to six decimal digits. The random numbers by GE-PRNG were compared against those generated by Python’s rand() function for sampling. The sampling results, when measured for accuracy against twenty-nine real world regression datasets, showed that GE-PRNG had less error when compared to Python’s rand() against the ground truths in seventeen of those, while there was no discernible difference in the remaining twelve. © 2021, CC BY.

Nowadays accidents are an increasing concern all over the world. In present scenario accidents are happening due to the factors of improper implementation and usage of helmets while driving Un-Prediction of other vehicle motions, utilizing of low quality helmets. All this carelessness and irresponsible activities plays a dominant role in accidents that are leading to cause of death and disability. Helmets plays a major role for protecting a human head injury in case of accidents. The purpose of this research is to create a smart and secure electronic helmet that plays a vital role in protecting human lives from accidents and this helmet help to send and monitor the information about the vehicle and also the person driving the vehicle. This research mainly focuses on giving indication of alerts to the driver about the surrounding vehicle movements while “changing the lane” and also helps to navigate the driver in correct way for travelling. The effect of a high-speed motorcyclist without wearing a helmet is highly dangerous and can lead to a fatality. Wearing a helmet can reduce damage and save a life. This project is specifically designed to improve the safety of motorcycle riders. Motorcyclists will be alerted if their speed limits are crossed and vehicles that enter the vehicle nearby hit. The helmet system emerging message using cloud-based service will send message to receiving contents in which the database has been stored. There are many countries enforcing a regulations requiring that the motorcycle driver wears a helmet while riding on his motorcycle. Most accidents are caused by reckless driving, drunk or mobile phone use, while traffic laws and rules are violated. Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) is an interesting technology aimed at providing various processing and storage resources at the edge of the Internet of things (IoT) networks. However, MECs contain limited resources, and they should be managed effectively to improve resource utilization. Workflow scheduling is a process that tries to map the workflow tasks to the most proper set of computing resources regarding some objectives. For this purpose, this paper presents DBOA, a discrete version of the Butterfly Optimization Algorithm (BOA) that applies the Levy flight to improve its convergence speed and prevent the local optima problem. Then, DBOA is applied for DVFS-based data-intensive workflow scheduling and data placement in MEC environments. This scheme also employs the HEFT algorithm's task prioritization method to find the task execution order in the scientific workflows. For evaluating the performance of the proposed scheduling scheme, extensive simulations are conducted on various well-known scientific workflows with different sizes. The obtained experimental results indicate that this method can outperform other algorithms regarding energy consumption, data access overheads, etc. © 2021, CC BY.

The fifth generation(5G) wireless communication networks are being deployed worldwide from 2020 and more capabilities are in the process of being standardized, such as mass connectivity, ultra-reliability,and guaranteed low latency. However, 5G will not meet all requirements of the future in 2030 and beyond, and sixth generation(6G) wireless communication networks are expected to provide global coverage, enhanced spectral/energy/cost efficiency, better intelligence level and security, etc. To meet these requirements, 6G networks will rely on new enabling technologies, i.e., air interface and transmission technologies and novel network architecture, such as waveform design, multiple access, channel coding schemes, multi-antenna technologies, network slicing, cell-free architecture, and cloud/fog/edge computing. Our vision on 6G is that it will have four new paradigm shifts. First, to satisfy the requirement of global coverage, 6G will not be limited to terrestrial communication networks, which will need to be complemented with non-terrestrial networks such as satellite and unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) communication networks, thus achieving a space-airground-sea integrated communication network. Second, all spectra will be fully explored to further increase data rates and connection density, including the sub-6GHz, millimeter wave(mmWave), terahertz(THz),and optical frequency bands. Third, facing the big datasets generated by the use of extremely heterogeneous networks, diverse communication scenarios, large numbers of antennas, wide bandwidths, and new service requirements, 6G networks will enable a new range of smart applications with the aid of artificial intelligence(AI) and big data technologies. Fourth, network security will have to be strengthened when developing 6G networks. This article provides a comprehensive survey of recent advances and future trends in these four aspects. While unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with flexible mobility are envisioned to enhance physical layer security in wireless communications, the efficient security design that adapts to such high network dynamics is rather challenging. The conventional approaches extended from optimization perspectives are usually quite involved, especially when jointly considering factors in different scales such as deployment and transmission in UAV-related scenarios. In this paper, we address the UAV-enabled multi-user secure communications by proposing a deep graph reinforcement learning framework. Specifically, we reinterpret the security beamforming as a graph neural network (GNN) learning task, where mutual interference among users is managed through the message-passing mechanism. Then, the UAV deployment is obtained through soft actor-critic reinforcement learning, where the GNN-based security beamforming is exploited to guide the deployment strategy update. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach achieves near-optimal security performance and significantly enhances the efficiency of strategy determination. Moreover, the deep graph reinforcement learning framework offers a scalable solution, adaptable to various network scenarios and configurations, establishing a robust basis for information security in UAV-enabled communications.
