For complex data sources of oil and gas engineering, this paper summarizes characteristics and semantic relationships of oil data, and presents a semantic-based data service for oil and gas engineering (SDSOge). The domain semantic data model is constructed using ontology technology, and semantic-based data integration is achieved by ontology extraction, ontology mapping, query translation, and data cleaning. With the semantic-based data query and sharing service, users can directly access distributed and heterogeneous data sources through the global semantic data model. SDSOge has been used by upper applications, and the results show that SDSOge is efficient in providing a comprehensive and real-time data service, saving energy, and improving production.

We investigated the performance of 10Gbps NRZ-DPSK repeaterless transmission system over 300km. The system is demonstrated experimentally over standard Single-Mode Fiber (SMF). The results showed the capability of terrestrial repeaterless transmission systems as a cost effective solution for improving broadband penetration particularly for rural areas.

Recently, the need for offshore aquaculture has become increasingly important in raising migratory fish species, such as, tuna and mackerel, in an offshore environment. Moreover, offshore fish cages are located 2-5 km offshore with water depths ranging from 40 to 100 m. Hence, visiting the fish cages directly and daily to obtain the growing environmental data of migratory fish species is time-consuming and increases cost. Therefore, a system to remotely obtain growing environmental data on a regular basis without visiting the fish cages is necessary. The objective of this work is to develop a remote monitoring system based on ocean sensor networks for offshore aquaculture, and to verify the effectiveness of the developed system. The remote monitoring system is composed of two main components: ocean sensor networks installed on fish cages in the ocean and a monitoring center located on land. The fish cages are located approximately 2 km offshore. Thus, the data sensed in the fish cages are transmitted to the monitoring center through RS-485, Zigbee, and CDMA communications in the ocean sensor network, and displayed in the monitoring center. In order to verify the effectiveness of our system, tests to remotely obtain the growing environmental data on tuna were performed. Experimental results show that our developed system can obtain the growing environmental data of the tuna remotely and in real-time. Therefore, scientists as well as fish farmers will be able to remotely obtain the growing environmental data of migratory fish species in offshore fish cages.

Search results optimization technology studies how to process and optimize the original search results so as to improve the user experience. This paper proposed a search results optimization approach based on semantics. This approach represented user query as its semantic structure expression, and represented each original result page as a word list. A correlation calculation model was constructed by combining WordNet, large-scale corpus and users' evaluation data, based on which the correlation between each result page and user query was calculated. When calculating correlation, different module was adopted according to the type of user query. This approach forms a new results list at last. The experiment showed this method can improve retrieval results to some extent.

In this paper, we derive an inner bound for two-user state-dependent multiple-access relay channel (MARC) via decode and forward strategy (DF) in which the states of channel are known non-causally at the relay. The inner bound is obtained by using a combination of binning scheme and codeword splitting. Codeword splitting at the relay is applied to generating two codebooks, one for utilizing a joint codebook between the relay and the transmitters and another for utilizing the channel state information. Furthermore, we obtain an outer bound for this model. Actually, our work is a generalization of Zaidi et al. work on the relay channel with informed relay to the MARC.

Software birthmarks are unique and native characteristics of a binary executable program that can be used for detecting software piracy. API (Application Programming Interface) calls in an MS Windows binary executable can be used as software birthmarks when there are no source codes available to detect software similarity. However, it is inefficient to extract birthmarks from all API calls during the execution of a binary executable. In this paper, we propose an efficient scheme for comparing software similarity. To reduce the number of comparisons used in the proposed scheme, we extract only the core API calls that are explicitly used in different programs. The birthmarks used for comparing the similarity between two programs can be obtained by extracting these core API calls. Our experimental results show that this proposed birthmark scheme using core API calls is efficient for evaluating software similarity. Copyright 2013 ACM.

In recent, many studies on applications that monitor the information of mobile objects in wireless sensor network have been done. A density query is one of query types for object monitoring applications. A density query finds out an area spread by density that a target object requires in the whole sensing field. In this paper, we propose a novel homogeneous network-based in-network density query processing scheme that significantly reduces query processing costs and assures high accuracy. This scheme is based on the possibility-based expected region selection technique and the result compensation technique to enhance the accuracy of the density query and to minimize energy consumption. To show the superiority of our proposed scheme, we compare it with the existing density query processing scheme. As a result, our proposed scheme reduces energy consumption for query processing by about 97 % compared to the existing scheme. In addition, the proposed scheme guarantees its query result and higher accuracy of the query result than the existing scheme. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media.

We consider the problem of searchable encryption scheme for the cryptographic cloud storage in such a way that it can be efficiently and privately executed under the multi-user setting. Searchable encryption schemes allow users to perform keyword searches on encrypted files to retrieve their interested data without decryption. All existing such schemes only consider the straightforward search approach where for searching one encrypted keyword, the cloud server must look round all encrypted files on the storage to compare that encrypted keyword to each keyword index. Since the file number can be very huge and the user may be unable to decrypt all files, that approach is not efficient and secure enough. In this paper, we first propose a keyword search scheme for the cryptographic cloud storage based on attribute-based cryptosystems. Our scheme presents a new keyword search notion: fine-grained access control aware keyword search. By narrowing the search scope to the user's decryptable files' group before executing the keyword search, our approach can both decrease information leakage from the query process and be more efficient than other existing schemes. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
