This paper concerns a swing-up control problem for a 3-link gymnastic planar robot in a vertical plane, whose first joint is passive (unactuated) and the rest are active (actuated). The objectives of this paper are: 1) to design a controller under which the robot can be brought into any arbitrarily small neighborhood of the upright equilibrium point, where all three links of the robot remain in their upright positions;2) to attain a global analysis of the motion of the robot under the controller. To tailor the energy based control approach to achieve the above objectives, first, this paper considers the links 2 and 3 as a virtually composite link and proposes a coordinate transformation of the angles of active joints. Second, this paper constructs a novel Lyapunov function based on the transformation, and devises an energy based swing-up controller. This paper presents a necessary and sufficient condition for nonexistence of any singular points in the controller for the robot starting from any initial state. Third, this paper carries out a global analysis of the motion of the robot under the controller, and establishes some conditions on control parameters for achieving the swing-up control objective. To validate the theoretical results obtained, this paper provides simulation results for a 3-link robot whose mechanical parameters are obtained from a human gymnast.

This paper describes an optimal dynamic code assignment algorithm. This algorithm can be used to maximize the total number of users in a combined CDMA-SDMA multiple access system under minimum quality of service (QoS) and under limited number of available spreading codes L. A single cell adopts a combined CDMA-SDMA system as the air interface, and accommodates an arbitrary number of users K distributed randomly within the cell. The probability of blocking was calculated through simulations to evaluate the system performance under different number of users and available spreading codes. The result shows that the system performance is significantly improved using the proposed algorithm. Additionally, the total number of users can be significantly increased by a small increase in the number of available spreading codes. Finally, the proposed assignment algorithm enhances the code reuse ratio and therefore increases the code efficiency.

This paper describes a simulation of ground penetrating radar (GPR) nondestructive method at frequency range of 1.7-2.6 GHz to predict density for various road pavement samples. The method used is very simple, fast, contactless and accurate way to determine the density of road pavement. In this work we used frequency range between 1.7-2.6 GHz due to the high penetration in road pavement. The MATLAB software is used to analyze the simulation data and also for the graphs comparisons. An instantaneous method for measuring the density of road pavement was developed by using microwave transmission/reflection technique and free space method at the chosen frequency. The GPR Mixture Model was used to predict the correlation between the attenuation to the parameters related such as effective permittivity, density and thickness.

Digital contents are easy to be pirated and to be distributed in today's Internet. Digital right management is an important topic to squash pop music pirates. In this paper, we will introduce the data hiding platform "MP3Stego" for MP3 files and we propose a "fingerprinting with error correcting coding" (FPecc) method on MP3Stego to increase robustness for its weakness. Through analytical results, the proposed method shows obvious improvement to prevent attacks.

A new multiplexing technique which is called duty cycle division multiplexing (DCDM) is presented in this paper. Theoretical and simulation studies have been carried out to evaluate the performance of this technique based on the signal energy and symbol error rate (SER). A wireless channel based on free space propagation model is considered for the simulation study. Two modulation schemes of PSK and QAM are used to evaluate the technique, against the data rates. Also, the performance of the multiplexing technique is compared with the conventional Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) technique as well as with the multilevel M-ary signaling. The study shows that the energy per bit in the DCDM technique, unlike that of the TDM technique increases with the number of users. The simulation results correspond with the theoretical study in which the DCDM technique has better SER than that of TDM.

A lower power consumption and wider bandwidth low noise amplifier (LNA) operating at 5 GHz frequency band has been designed and simulated in a standard 0.18 mum CMOS technology. The proposed topology uses a capacitor to decouple the AC and DC currents, isolating the circuit elements that are connected in series and share a common DC current. This is followed by the application of a varactor to create a wideband frequency response. The varactor has been swept with voltages stepped at 0.1, 0.5 and 0.9 V to create a wideband LNA working in the frequency range of 5.150 to 5.825 GHz. The LNA simulated provides a high gain of 36.69 dB, noise figure of less than 1.87 dB and draws current at 168.8 mA from a 1.8 power supply.

The deployment of symmetric NAT makes the communication between hosts in a peer-to-peer application very difficult, which needs many relay node to provide NAT traversal service. Traditional relay nodes are all server hosts lie in the edge of network. To reduce the duplicate traffic and excess router load caused by server relaying, a UDP switch based router enhanced NAT method is proposed in this paper, which can resolve the bottleneck of network bandwidth by enhance router function independently.

Although the demands for finding an economical routing protocol that provides the service to the clients in shortest time and least cost are increasing. IPv6 Anycast still has a lot of issues and problems in practical applications. One of the problems is that IPv6 Anycast still does not have its own standard protocol. In this paper we develop a new Anycast routing protocol by modifying the existing multicast routing protocol because anycast and multicast have many similar properties. Protocol Independent Multicast-Sparse Mode (PIM-SM) is chosen as a basis to design a new anycast routing protocol. We next improve the design by considering the status (free or busy) of the anycast receivers as an important factor in our design. Besides the metric value of the receiver, we propose a new variable in the routing table called BMF (Best Metric Factor).

Double Weight (DW) code is presented here to support fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) access network in point-to-multipoint (P2MP) applications. This code with basic fixed weight of 2 possess ideal cross correlation properties, that are important characteristics in spectral encoding OCDMA system since these can eliminate multiple user interference and can reduce noise. The performance of DW code against Hadamard code is compared through simulation by using Optisystem version 2.2. The performances were characterized through bit error rate (BER) against number of user for two network designs. One is without erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) and another one is with the EDFA for P2MP network. It is found that DW code is better than Hadamard code for all simulation results at bit rates of 622 Mbps, 1.25 Gbps and 2.5 Gbps.

A new detection scheme, namely AND subtraction technique is proposed and presented in this paper. The theory is being elaborated and the calculated and simulation results have been done by comparing AND subtraction technique against complementary subtraction technique by using DW code. In this paper we have proved that AND subtraction technique gives better bit error rate (BER) performance than complementary subtraction technique.
