The application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques for analyzing medical images and omics data is revolutionizing the healthcare industry by offering profound insights into various diseases. Achieving precise diagnoses and formulating effective treatment plans, however, demands intricate and multimodal analysis of complex, sensitive, and diverse medical datasets. Recent advancements in Machine Learning and Deep Learning have proven to be formidable in identifying and classifying specific diseases. Accurate forecasting in photovoltaic energy is one of the most essential integrated and influential events for managing the system of new and renewable energy sources in the power grid. The paper presents a practical approach using neural networks to predict photovoltaic energy generation. Applying neural networks in PV power generation forecasting is challenging due to unpredictable environmental changes such as solar radiation, temperature, humidity, wind speed, etc. Neural network methods are distinguished by achieving high performance in prediction compared to traditional mathematical models that have difficulties dealing with complex nonlinear relationships, resulting in substandard prediction. The proposed neural network-based forecasting model offers an effective way to improve the precision of estimating PV generation. It has a great deal of promise to enhance the integration and dependability of solar energy in the current electricity landscape because of its capacity to capture complex linkages in the data and adapt to changing circumstances. © 2023 IEEE.

Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence (AI) have revolutionized the technology landscape, evolving predominantly along parallel trajectories. This research investigates the feasibility of integrating these two domains, specifically examining the potential of the latest advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) to assist non-experts in the development of production-ready Solidity smart contracts. Utilizing a lease agreement as a case study, we employ GPT-4 to translate the document into smart contract code. To ensure consistency, we design several distinct prompts with analogous objectives, each employed multiple times. Our evaluation methodology encompasses both automated analysis and expert manual review. The findings indicate a clear limitation: the current iteration of GPT-4 is incapable of generating production-ready smart contracts, primarily due to undetected coding flaws and discrepancies between the prompts and the generated code. This study underscores the challenges and limitations inherent in leveraging LLMs for the autonomous generation of complex, real-world applicable smart contracts. © 2024 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

SKINC-NET: an efficient Lightweight Deep Learning Model for Multiclass skin lesion classification in dermoscopic images

Diagnosing skin cancer through visual image examinations is time-consuming and error-prone, as the similar appearance and variations within each type of skin cancer challenge the efficiency and accuracy. computer-aided techniques, notably convolutional neural networks (CNNs), demand substantial computational resources and exhibit a high level of time complexity, rendering them impractical for real-world applications necessitating rapid and precise skin cancer detection. To address this issue, this research introduces SKINC-NET, a streamlined deep learning (DL) model specifically designed to achieve precise diagnoses of various skin cancer types while minimizing computational resource requirements. SKINC-NET can classify seven types of skin lesions using dermoscopic images, designed with dense layers, batch normalization (BN), and LeakyReLU activation functions. Numerous experiments were conducted on the HAM10000 dataset, using a data augmentation approach to tackle the class imbalance problem. The study compared the SKINC-NET model’s performance with four transfer learning models, namely ResNet50, VGG16, MobileNetV2, and EfficientNetB0. Several ablation studies were conducted to identify the optimal hyperparameters that lead to precise skin cancer diagnosis. The SKINC-NET model demonstrates its superiority by achieving the highest overall classification accuracy of 98.54% with minimal computation. The experimental findings affirm that the SKINC-NET model showcases remarkable robustness and presents several significant benefits, including lower computational complexity, a smaller number of trainable parameters, and superior performance compared to existing state-of-the-art models. SKINC-NET can assist dermatologists in making appropriate decisions regarding the early detection of skin cancer. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

The novel Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has begun in China and is still affecting thousands of patient livesworldwide *** X-ray and Computed Tomography are the gold standardmedical imaging modalities for diagnosing potentially infected COVID-19 cases,applying Ultrasound(US)imaging technique to accomplish this crucial diagnosing task has attracted many physicians *** this article,we propose two modified deep learning classifiers to identify COVID-19 and pneumonia diseases in US images,based on generative adversarial neural networks(GANs).The proposed image classifiers are a semi-supervised GAN and a modifiedGANwith auxiliary *** one includes a modified discriminator to identify the class of the US image using semi-supervised learning technique,keeping its main function of defining the“realness”of tested *** tests have been successfully conducted on public dataset of US images acquired with a convex US *** study demonstrated the feasibility of using chest US images with two GAN classifiers as a new radiological tool for clinical check of COVID-19 *** results of our proposed GAN models showed that high accuracy values above 91.0%were obtained under different sizes of limited training data,outperforming other deep learning-based methods,such as transfer learning models in the recent ***,the clinical implementation of our computer-aided diagnosis of US-COVID-19 is the future work of this study.

In this paper, a novel navigation method is proposed to dock a mobile manipulator in front of a specific person by combining the ultra-wideband (UWB) positioning system with image-based motion control. The UWB is used for a longer distance human identification and positioning. As the robot approaches the target person, face recognition and face pose estimation are used for close docking control the person. The experimental results show that the average error of docking to a person is 5.2° in orientation and 8.48cm in distance. The integrated experimental results demonstrate that the autonomous mobile manipulator can navigate to a target person and handover an object to the person. © 2023 IEEE.

Handwritten digit recognition technology is increasingly used in a wide range of fields, but the recognition rate still has room for further improvement. Currently, there are a large number of studies focusing on the use of activation functions to improve the handwritten digit recognition rate, compared with ReLU, Sigmod and other activation functions, this paper chooses to take the Mish activation function to optimise the handwritten digit recognition algorithm, using Pytorch machine learning framework, designed a deep convolutional neural network model based on the MNIST dataset to carry out digit recognition, and to improve the accuracy of model recognition through the learning of image features for digit classification to improve the model recognition accuracy. The experimental results show that the Mish activation function can increase the accuracy of handwritten digit recognition to 99%. This paper introduces the African Bison Optimization(ABO)algorithm,which is based on biological *** is inspired by the survival behaviors of the African bison,including foraging,bathing,jousting,mating,and *** foraging behavior prompts the bison to seek a richer food source for *** bison find a food source,they stick around for a while by bathing *** jousting behavior makes bison stand out in the population,then the winner gets the chance to produce offspring in the mating *** eliminating behavior causes the old or injured bison to be weeded out from the herd,thus maintaining the excellent *** above behaviors are translated into ABO by mathematical *** assess the reliability and performance of ABO,it is evaluated on a diverse set of 23 benchmark functions and applied to solve five practical engineering problems with *** findings from the simulation demonstrate that ABO exhibits superior and more competitive performance by effectively managing the trade-off between exploration and exploitation when compared with the other nine popular metaheuristics algorithms.

Two transitions, green and digital, are changing the operations and strategies of industrial systems. At the same time, businesses are challenged to be globally competitive. Europe has a very ambitious agenda as it aims to be the first climate-neutral continent in 2050. The european emissions trading scheme (EU ETS) has proven to have facilitated the reduction of significant amounts of greenhouse gas emissions, but the risk of carbon leakage is present. This work seeks to explore these issues and their relationships. Through the use of a long short-term memory (LSTM) neural network, a model is built to determine the price of european union allowance (EUA) as a function of different financial energy futures. The results show that the model is very robust and the EUA tends to vary between 78 and 91 €/tCO2. In addition, a multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) is applied to identify the best policy alternatives to enable businesses subject to the EU ETS to be competitive in global markets. The analysis is carried out with the help of academic and industrial experts and it emerges that the criteria considered most relevant are two: (i) public expenditure and its expected benefits and (ii) the industrial ecosystem. The policy implications identify that bonuses should be provided to businesses for innovative solutions that protect both the energy and raw material components. The framework of the 3E (Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy, and Circular Economy) are critical to businesses' long-term strategies, flanked by digital development. © 2023 The Author(s)

This paper presents a novel methodology for closed-loop system identification of unstable nonlinear systems using the Koopman operator with Extended Dynamic Mode Decomposition with control (EDMDc). The study highlights the critical role of selecting appropriate observable functions to develop accurate and efficient Koopman models. We demonstrate that the resulting Koopman models exhibit excellent fitting and validation properties and retain the stabilizability of the original nonlinear systems. These models are verified through time and frequency responses under closed-loop control using a Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR), confirming their effectiveness. Future work will extend this framework to more complex systems and incorporate machine learning techniques to refine the selection of observable functions. This approach aims further to enhance the adaptability and robustness of Koopman-based control strategies. © 2025 IEEE.
