Obstacle dodging and overtaking are the pivotal tasks ensuring safety for self-driving automobiles. Multi-sensors fusion is the must-required condition to explore the entire surrounding information. This paper proposes a novel frontal dynamic car dodging strategy for automobiles with the left-hand side steering wheel by fusion of a camera and 2D LiDAR features. To begin with, we improve the LiteSeg model to extract the segmented mask, which can determine the drivable area and the avoiding direction. In addition to a camera, 2D LiDAR is used to check the scene information on the right side, which the camera's range cannot cover. As for point clouds output of 2D LiDAR, we adopt the Adaptive Breakpoint Detection (defined as ABD) algorithm to cluster the objects in a scanning plane. Subsequently, the RANSAC algorithm forms a straight line from the clustered point clouds to determine the boundary of the right-side obstacle. Besides, we compute the distance from LiDAR to the estimated straight line to maintain a safe distance when overtaking. Last but not least, the post-processing results of the two devices are fused to decide on the obstacle dodging and overtaking. The comprehensive experiments reveal that our self-driving automobile could perform well on the university campus in diverse scenarios. © 2022 IEEE.

Ultra-wideband (UWB) radar technology has gained significant attention for human detection, vital sign monitoring, and activity recognition applications. In this study, a robust deep-learning model capable of detecting human presence in different environments is developed. The model uses only the raw data obtained directly from the radar without preprocessing. The model is trained and tested on different datasets collected via the UWB radar. Transfer learning has been applied to fine-tune the model on datasets to improve the performance and generalization of the model. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of transfer learning in adapting UWB radar-based human detection models to different environments.

The placement of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) is a significant obstacle to the widespread adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs). However, integrating EVCS with distributed Renewable Energy (RE) sources may help mitigate the variability of RE production. This article focuses on studying a Microgrid (MG) that consists of power distribution sources such as Wind Turbines (WT) and photovoltaic (PV), as well as EVCSs and Energy Storage Structures (ESS). The analysis considers the ambiguities associated with the charging needs of electric vehicles and the production of distributed Renewable Energy Sources (RES). A comprehensive optimization model is provided for computing the best Charging Stations (CS) locations equipped with distributed electricity. This model combines the electrical network and the grid to ensure efficiency and reliability. The usage variation ratio is employed to assess the level of compatibility among the uncertain production curve of RE and the charging request curves to ascertain the suitable size of the WT and photovoltaic-producing method and energy storage system. The kernel prediction function is utilized to address the problem of excessive caution in adaptable optimizing methods. A simulation is conducted on an IEEE 33-nodal energy distributing system and a 50-nodal transit network. The findings from simulations provide evidence of the model's resilience and cost-effectiveness.

In this paper, we introduce a surveillance system utilizing mmWave-FMCW radar designed for restricted control areas. The experiment, conducted in our laboratory, defines the restricted control area parameters. Employing the TI-IWR6843AOPEVM model, operating at 60–64 GHz, and providing point cloud and Doppler information, we assumed walking paths for testing, partitioning scenarios into four distinct cases to simulate real-world scenarios. system performance evaluation, assessed through confusion matrices, demonstrates an achieved accuracy of up to 76.9%. Notably, errors are mainly caused by multipath effects due to static objects within the testing environment.

Classroom scheduling is vital but difficult for educational institutions, especially those with large student populations and diverse needs. Traditional methods using outdated software or manual processes often cause inefficiencies, disagreements, and administrative workload. In low-resource regions without access to cutting-edge technology and infrastructure, these issues are severe. This paper introduces Android-based SmartClass Mobile to transform classroom scheduling. The program's SOA-based functionality offers flexibility, adaptability, and integration with institution-specific procedures. The Heuristic algorithm and Solution Space Navigation (SSN) tackle scheduling problems such as room availability, multimedia needs, and seating capacities. SSN dynamically resolves conflicts by exploring alternate configurations, while the Heuristic Algorithm assigns time slots and classrooms depending on availability and priority. SmartClass Mobile analysis indicates benefits. The solution reduces conflicts, increases user satisfaction, and decreases scheduling time by 50% compared to manual methods with 85% test user approval. Due to its mobile-first approach, the initiative is open to urban and rural institutions. Dependence on internet access for some functions is a downside, especially in resource-constrained contexts. The findings suggest that SmartClass Mobile provides a scalable, effective, and simple classroom scheduling solution. Mobile technology, advanced algorithms, and SOA concepts make it valuable for school administrators. Additions like AI and machine learning will boost its potential.

This study aims to check and assess how the current set up of Human Resource department in the Telecommunications/ Information and Communications Technology Industry were able to accommodate their employee requests and how do this department perform the proceedings. It will give a better understanding on how the automation process can affect and influence the Human Resource department of each organization to have this kind of set up. This is in line with the needed adaptation of the industry in the fast phasing of the digitalization of the organizations to continue the processing and continuous flow of information. In the same manner, this study aims to grasp the foreseen effects in both job security and fluidity of the process implementation. The methods used to gather data for this research are systematic literature review and survey collected from the employees working in Telecommunications and Information Technologies industries. The results show that it is very evident that the use of Automation and Digitalization of information handling helps in processing and completion of tasks within their company, most especially in their human resource department. They also understand that in some cases, it is still good to have some transactions done manually and while others can be done online.

In this paper, we propose a methodology aimed to enhancing the accuracy of moving target positioning using FMCW radar within spectrogram mapping. Utilizing a 10 GHz operating frequency, the FMCW radar effectively detects moving targets. However, the interpretation of intermediate frequency (IF) signals posed challenges due to multiple reflections and resulting ambiguous distances between objects. For solving this problem, we propose two steps of solution: employing an enveloping method and normalization of the IF signal. This process can extract maximum amplitude peaks specific to the target. Experimental validation involved detecting a drone moving away from the radar. Comparative analysis pre and post signal processing in spectrogram terms demonstrate the efficacy of our technique. Furthermore, verification of the detection range of radar was conducted using the GSM-015 GNSS speed meter. Results confirm the accuracy of the positioning capabilities of radar, emphasizing the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Carbon nanotube field-effect transistors (CNTFETs) have been ideal nanoelectronics in semiconductor technologies with exceptional electrical properties. Scaling the CNT -FET fabrication enables the expansion of the application fields. However, placing nanotubes with uniform alignment and controlled density to the electrode contacts has been the maj or challenge in massive manufacturing. Here, we introduce the in-place inkjet-printing method for fabricating CNTFETs with controlled numbers of connected CNTs at a single CNT level. A picoliter (pL) drop of CNT ink is printed to the pre-patterned electrode arrays in parallel over a four-inch silicon wafer, allowing adaptive manufacturing without additional lithographic processes. Drops form thin films on the metal electrode patterns driven by the surface tension flow, diluting the surface density of CNT on the one-micrometer channel gap and avoiding bundled coffee ring edges. Finally, single CNTs are correctly bridged to the electrodes with high statistical yield. This process enables reproducible and high-throughput single CNT deposition, integrating into the FET manufacturing process, and can be used for versatile nanoelectronics applications, such as biosensors.
