The portion of clock power in system is rapidly increasing with the continuous increasing of clock frequency and clock resources. Last two decades, a great research attention has been paid to minimizing the clock power. Recently, it is shown that the structure of resonant clock networks is very effective in saving power since it can store electric energy to the inserted inductors rather than dissipate. On the other side, it has been known that dynamic voltage-frequency scaling (DVFS) is one of the most effectively and widely used power reduction techniques. However, so far no works have addressed the design methodology problem of synthesizing resonant clock networks that are able to operate under the designs with DVFS capability even though the problem is potentially very important to maximize the synergy effect on saving power. In this context, this paper proposes a comprehensive solution to the problem. Precisely, we propose a two-phase synthesis algorithm: 1) formulating the problem of inductor allocation, placement, and adjustable-sizing to support DVFS into a weighted set cover problem with the objective of minimizing total area of inductors and 2) followed by performing the task of resizing of adjustable driving buffers to support the switch of driving strength according to the clock frequencies by DVFS. Through experiments with benchmark circuits, it is shown that for designs with DVFS using 1 and 3 GHz, our algorithm synthesizes resonant clock networks with 25.9% less power on the execution of the clock frequency, which is not supported by resonant clocking in the previous no-DVFS aware resonant clock synthesis algorithm. © 2016 IEEE.

Recent developments in miniaturized microscopes have furthered the quest to visualize brain activities and structural dynamics in animals engaged in self-determined behaviors. However, it remains an unmet challenge to resolve activity at single dendritic spines, the elemental units underlying neuronal computation, in freely-behaving animals. Here, we report the design, testing, and application of a fast, high-resolution, miniaturized two-photon microscope（FIRM-TPM） that accomplishes this goal. With a headpiece weighing 2.15 g and a new type of hollow-core photonic crystal fiber to deliver 920-nm femtosecond laser pulses, the FIRM-TPM is capable of imaging commonly used biosensors at high spatiotemporal resolution（0.64 μm laterally and 3.35 μm axially, 40 Hz at 256 × 256 pixels）. Its micro-electromechanical systems scanner also enables random-access capability and free-line scanning at up to 10,000 Hz. It compares favorably with benchtop two-photon microscopy and miniature wide-field fluorescence microscopy in the structural and functional imaging of Thy1-GFP-or GCa MP6 f-labeled neurons. Further, we demonstrate its unique application and robustness with hour-long recording of neuronal activities down to the level of spines in mice experiencing vigorous body and head movements or engaging in social interaction. Thus, our new generation miniature microscope provides neuroscientists the long-sought tool-of-choice for imaging the brain at the synaptic level in freely-behaving animals.

We propose in this paper a new writer-independent off-line handwritten signature verification (HSV) system using only genuine signatures. This system is based on a combination of two off-line individual HSV systems through the plausible and paradoxical reasoning theory of Dezert-Smarandache (DSmT). Firstly, we propose to evaluate the performances of both off-line HSV systems through using one-class SVM classifiers (OC-SVM) that operate independently of each other, which are associated to DCT and Curvelet transform based descriptors. To improve system performance, the outputs of both individual HSV systems are combined in DSmT framework, where a new decision making criterion is proposed. Experimental results conducted on the well known CEDAR database show the effective use of the proposed DSmT based combination for improving the verification accuracy comparatively to individual systems. © 2016 ISIF.

In human-human joint assembly work, two human workers complete the assembly of a toy-car by inserting a green wheel and a blue wheel into its wheelbases together. At this time, the green wheel should first be inserted, after which the blue wheel is allowed to be inserted into tis wheelbase. In this work, we propose a learning method for a robot to interact with a human worker instead of a human worker. That is, a human worker is replaced by a robot. In this human-robot joint assembly work, the robot has to complete the assembly of a toy-car with the rest of two humans. For this, a unified framework is used with the following four processes; the process (i) - of segmenting motion trajectories using a Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) [1], the process (ii) - of modeling motion primitives; here, such motion primitives are represented as Dynamic Movement Primitives (DMPs), the process (iii) - of learning motion causalities; To find pre- and post-conditions for a task execution, we use to find what a robot should direct its attention in motion trajectories from motion trajectories of a robot and to find what a robot should direct its attention in motion trajectories from all possible object-object motion pairs and object-robot motion pairs. Here, pre- and postconditions indicate what have to be checked to activate motion primitives and what have been changed after executing motion primitives, respectively. To obtain pre- and post-conditions, significant variables are selected based on spatial entropies of all motion pairs. These motion causalities are represented Bayesian networks including significant variables. Finally, the process (iv) - of selecting motion primitives according to current and goal situations by using the motivation graph proposed in [2]. To evaluate our proposed method, a toy-car assembling task is performed by inserting a green wheel and a blue wheel into their wheelbases.

In this paper, we propose methods for representing and reproducing skills for a robot to adapt scale and position variations and external perturbations. The robot skill should be adaptable and reusable when there exist variation in scale and position (e.g. isotropic scaling, anisotropic scaling, rotation, deformation and so on) and under external perturbation. For example, consider a robot that learns the skill of drawing a square on a sketchpad placed on a table. The robot should be able to draw a square on a sketchpad moved in real-time and on a sketchpad placed at different angles and positions (e.g. a sketchpad hanging on the wall). The robot should also be able to draw a smaller or larger square using the same skill. It should also be able to draw deformed squares using the same skill, if the geometrical properties of the rectangle or the trapezoid are given. The most similar work for this was the method to use the product of the mixture models based on both global coordinated trajectory and the local coordinated trajectory [1]. Unlike the previous work, our representation afford each mixture model to be controllable by separately modeling one transformation matrix at one mixture model, not the whole mixture models. In our approach, the skill is first modeled as a Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) using training data. Based on geometric interpretation of the GMM, its mixture components are represented as the priors, the means, and the eigenvectors and eigenvalues of the covariances. This is because the means and the covariances need to be geometrically transformed according to variations and perturbations (see Fig. 1 (b)-(d)). A skill is represented by combining the set of these mixture components with the transformation matrices. The skill is renewed by transforming mixture components based on the transformation matrices that are constructed to reflect the variations and the perturbations. In this paper we explore non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) in millimeter-wave (mmWave) communications (mmWave-NOMA). In particular, we consider a typical problem, i.e., maximization of the sum rate of a 2-user mmWave-NOMA system. In this problem, we need to find the beamforming vector to steer towards the two users simultaneously subject to an analog beamforming structure, while allocating appropriate power to them. As the problem is non-convex and may not be converted to a convex problem with simple manipulations, we propose a suboptimal solution to this problem. The basic idea is to decompose the original joint beamforming and power allocation problem into two sub-problems which are relatively easy to solve: one is a power and beam gain allocation problem, and the other is a beamforming problem under a constant-modulus constraint. Extension of the proposed solution from 2-user mmWave-NOMA to more-user mmWave-NOMA is also discussed. Extensive performance evaluations are conducted to verify the rational of the proposed solution, and the results also show that the proposed sub-optimal solution achieve close-to-bound sum-rate performance, which is significantly better than that of time-division multiple access (TDMA). The development of IT (Information Technology) has made access to control systems easier. However, because such advancement of control systems gave rise to many security vulnerabilities, the threat of cyber-attack is increasing as well. In order to respond these threats, we discusses the mechanism for protecting ICS (Industrial Control system) network. Most of all, since availability is the most critical factor in a control system, independent network security technology is required. In this viewpoint, this paper presents our industrial firewall system, named the IndusCAP-Gate (Industrial Cyber Attack Prevention-Gate) system, that fundamentally prevents unauthorized access to a control system. Our system applies access control filters of various levels. Most of all, the proposed system has an abnormal traffic filtering mechanism about Modbus and DNP3 protocol of the most widely used protocols in ICS network. Therefore, it facilitates the provision of security policy specific to each zone of the control system intranet.

Radio frequency interference（RFI） is becoming more and more frequently, which makes it an important issue in SAR *** presented in synthetic aperture radar either on purpose or inadvertent will distort the useful SAR echoes, thus degrade the SAR image *** resolve this issue, a long time study was carried out to study the characteristic of the RFI through the RFIaffected spaceborne and airborne SAR *** on the narrow band nature of RFI, this paper proposes a new process which contains both RFI detection and RFI suppression.A useful subband spectral kurtosis detector is first used to detect RFI, and then its results are used for RFI *** proposed process has two advantages： one is the economization on the compute time for unnecessary interference suppression when no RFI existed; the other is improving the performance of the suppression method with knowing the exact position where RFI ***, the previous RFI suppression method––subband spectral cancelation（SSC） is supplemented and *** subband division step is also elaborated detail in this *** experiment results show that the subband spectral kurtosis detector exhibits good performance in recognizing both weak and narrow-band *** addition, the validity of the SSC method with subband spectral kurtosis detector is also validated on the real SAR echoes.

In this paper, we present an analysis of implemented QAM modulator in HFC network. It may be through the 256 QAM modulation using a single carrier to transmit data up to 38.8 Mbps. 64/256-QaM modulator based on ITU-T J.83 Annex B is implemented as a board which includes field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). Implemented Modulator consists of RS-TCM encoder, a QAM modulator and Digital to analog converter (DAC). We analyze the received MPEG-2 TS stream and measured Program Clock Reference (PCR) jitter. TS stream is normally being received, PCR was confirmed to operate reliably within approximately -50 to +300 ns.

Relationship between the stress of ICs and package warpage caused by flip-chip bonding is evaluated using piezoresistor chip and is measured by Moiré measurement method. The die size is 9×9 mm 2 with 200μm and 550μm in thickness. After non-conductive film laminating, the TEG chip is connected to the organic substrate or the Si interposer by FC bonding. The stress inside the chip was obtained in process of FC bonding by measuring the change in piezo-resistance. The warpage measured by moiré analysis method is in good agreement with the measured residual stress.
