Polarization-induced photocurrent switching effect in heterojunction photodiodes

The unipolar photocurrent in conventional photodiodes(PDs)based on photovoltaic effect limits the output modes and potential versatility of these devices in *** photodiodes with photocurrent switching are emerging as a promising solution for obtaining photoelectric devices with unique and attractive functions,such as optical logic ***,we design an all-solid-state chip-scale ultraviolet(UV)PD based on a hybrid GaN heterojunction with engineered bipolar polarized electric *** introducing the polarization-induced photocurrent switching effect,the photocurrent direction can be switched in response to the wavelength of incident light at 0 V *** particular,the photocurrent direction exhibits negative when the irradiation wavelength is less than 315 nm,but positive when the wavelength is longer than 315 *** device shows a responsivity of up to−6.7 mA/W at 300 nm and 5.3 mA/W at 340 nm,*** particular,three special logic gates in response to different dual UV light inputs are demonstrated via a single bipolar PD,which may be beneficial for future multifunctional UV photonic integrated devices and systems.

There are now three moving target detection algorithms: The optical flow methodology, the background difference technique, and the inter-frame difference method are all employed. The optical flow technique has the most complex algorithm and takes the longest to process data compared to other approaches. The background subtraction(BS) approach, on the other hand, is recognised for its high sensitivity to light changes. Finally, while the frame difference approach is very straightforward and quick to use, the findings are insufficiently accurate due to backdrop brightness fluctuations causing mistakes. In this paper, the objective is to discover strange actions in image processing using speed and displacement analysis. Motion is detected using Incremental and Multi-feature Tensor Subspace Learning (IMTSL) Applied for Background Modeling and Subtraction. Following IMTSL Background Subtraction, different image analysis were performed on the resulting pictures for displacement estimate, followed by speed computation. The results demonstrate improved backdrop modelling and action prediction. © 2022 IEEE.

The main aim of this paper is to evaluate the performance of a modular fault-tolerant multiphase inverter prototype. Suitable current and voltage monitoring are implemented to maintain limited the electric and mechanical stresses during the fault detection, identification, and isolation phases. The realized fault-tolerant motor drive configuration covers different types of faults occurring in the power converter devices and the open-phase fault in the electric motor. The inverter has been tested on a six-phase induction motor prototype. © 2022 IEEE.

It datasets are widely utilized, shared, and repurposed without providing enough context for understanding the decision-making processes that led to their creation. It is necessary to modify system creation and use procedures to handle the concrete effects of how knowledge for model building is envisioned and used in real-world applications as AI systems assume more and more important roles. Documents are created at every phase of the data generation lifecycle to improve communication, aid in decision-making, and highlight the need of careful data work. By putting out this paradigm, we want to shed light on the choices and duties that are often disregarded while creating datasets, which is a crucial first step in bridging the duty of care gap in AI. This framework provides an essential and important resource for guaranteeing ethical AI activities, and it is in line with current developments in auditing procedures. © 2024 IEEE.

In sensor networks, a wireless sub-system enabling the transfer of digitised data facilitates communication between sensors. Deploying sensor networks involves considering factors such as sensor quantity, topology (fixed or dynamic), data collection needs, and energy supply. Energy poses a significant challenge in wireless nodes, prompting the exploration of suitable power sources for wireless sensor networks (WSNs). While fixed utilities like power lines or manual battery recharging may suffice for a few nodes, deploying hundreds or thousands of nodes in challenging terrain demands alternative solutions. Solar cells and other energy harvesting techniques like wind and RF emerge as ideal options, rendering WSNs self-sustaining. Efficient energy-saving mechanisms are crucial to address energy constraints in small sensors. This review examines leveraging solar cells for energy harvesting, proposing a system incorporating an energy management technique based on node sleep and wake-up strategies. The results reveal a trade-off between dropped communication packets and blocked transmissions during node sleep. The proposed Nash equilibrium resolves this, optimising energy conservation against packet blocking probability in the envisioned scenario. © 2023 IEEE.

Binary obfuscation is a very broad set of techniques widely employed in the context of code protection from piracy. However, it is also used for malicious goals, e.g. virus writers often employ obfuscation in order to evade signature-based antivirus detection. Thus, the ability to detect if an executable has been obfuscated is of paramount importance, as it allows to thwart the execution of potentially malicious code. The task of detection, however, is not easy, since many different obfuscating transformations exist and the alteration of an original code is not always easily detectable. In this paper, we want to shed light on the blurry task of obfuscation detection. We will look at this task through the brand new lenses of explainable artificial intelligence (XAI), in order to finally sharpen the obscure landscape of obfuscated software. Thanks to XAI we will be able to identify the relevant features altered by the transformating obfuscation as well as the invariant ones, that can be used for obfuscation-resistant malware signatures. We show our findings thanks to an evaluation with a dataset of obfuscated and non-obfuscated binaries, explaining the important features that lead to the detection of obfuscating transformations.

It is widely recognized that the timely acquisition and presentation of accurate physiological data is a vital aid to the anaesthesiologist in monitoring and maintaining the well-being of a patient undergoing surgery. Collecting, storing, synchronizing, integrating, evaluating, and retrieving pertinent information from patient data remains very difficult due to limited computer power, the need for specialized software, inconsistency between monitoring devices, and inadequate data storage. This paper introduces the general steps of data acquisition in anaesthesia and summarizes some data acquisition systems. It also introduces some applications of the burgeoning field of artificial intelligence (AI) to data acquisition, illustrating how AI techniques may be used to advantage to assist the anaesthesiologist in monitoring and interpreting such data. © 2023 IEEE.

By exploiting ion transport phenomena in a soft and flexible discrete channel,liquid material conductance can be controlled by using an electrical input signal,which results in analog neuromorphic *** paper proposes an ionic liquid(IL)multistate resistive switching device capable of mimicking synapse analog behavior by using IL BMIM FeCL_(4) and H_(2)O into the two ends of a discrete polydimethylsiloxane(PDMs)*** spike rate-dependent plasticity(SRDP)and spike-timing-dependent plasticity(STDP)behavior are highly stable by modulating the input ***,the discrete channel device presents highly durable performance under mechanical bending and *** the obtained parameters from the proposed ionic liquid-based synaptic device,convolutional neural network simulation runs to an image recognition task,reaching an accuracy of 84%.The bending test of a device opens a new gateway for the future of soft and flexible brain-inspired neuromorphic computing systems for various shaped artificial intelligence applications.

A comprehensive understanding of physiological data is essential for anesthesiologists to monitor and maintain the health of surgical patients. Understanding anesthetic signals is essential to improve over the past ten decades to comprehend a variety of diseases, ensure the safety of patients, and accelerate their recovery. We identified and summarized four themes of artificial intelligence (AI) research in anesthesia: applications of AI in anesthesiology, signals monitored in different anesthesia stages, commonly monitored signs, and data standardization. The effect of various AI technologies on data analysis was studied, and the types, functions, sensors, characteristics, and intelligent analysis of physiological signals monitored during anesthesia are presented in this article. AI influences anesthesia practices in many ways, including preoperative data evaluation, anesthetic depth monitoring, and postoperative event prediction. © 2024 IEEE.

Monolithic GaN power IC has been regarded as the ultimate solution to unlock the full potential of the wide bandgap GaN technology for next-generation high-speed, high-efficiency and high-density power circuits. However, with scarce power device options, the current development of monolithic GaN power ICs faces severe design challenges. A critical example can be found in the design of one of the most important circuit modules – the voltage level shifter, which is the enabler to drive any kind of high-side power switch in a power circuit. To overcome this challenge, this paper proposes a new circuit structure and a novel operation concept of a dynamic floating voltage level shifter to reduce propagation delays, improve dynamic slew rates and attain superb dv⁄dt noise immunity for both speed and reliability improvements. Implemented on a 200V, 180nm, n-type only, GaN-on-SOI process, the proposed voltage level shifter only occupies a die area of 0.12mm 2 and achieves 2.81ns rising and 3.44ns falling propagation delays at room temperature with a slew rate of 100V/ ns.
