We propose the WLAN/HSDPA interworking architecture that enables us to interwork between HSDPA and WLAN. The WLAN/HSDPA interworking architecture defines the handover-related modules for mobile terminal and the handover switching flows among them. The proposed interworking architecture can be easily extended to support more than two heterogeneous networks. We also provide the experimental results of the interworking architecture in terms of the handover time between HSDPA and WLAN. Experimental result shows that the interworking architecture reduces handover time between HSDPA and WLAN.

Terahertz (THz) plasmonic spectra of field-effect transistor (FET) arrays are discussed for two different types of FET arrays: (i) FET array with a common channel and a large-area grating gate, and (ii) array of FET units with separate channels and combined intrinsic source and drain contacts. It is shown that the coupling between plasmons and THz radiation in the FET array can be strongly enhanced as compared to a single-unit FET due to excitation of the cooperative plasmon mode distributed over the entire area of the FET array. The higher-order plasmon modes revealing the plasmon resonances at frequencies up to 20 THz can be excited much more effectively in the array of FET units with separate channels and combined source and drain contacts.

We propose a system that can record driving events and detect unsafe driving behaviors. Three sensors, an engine control unit (ECU) reader, a 3-axis accelerometer, and a camera are used, in which they represent the car, the passenger, and the driverpsilas perspective. Our system combines data from these three sensors with a fuzzy inference system to identify an event of hazardous driving. The output of the system is the driving risk level ranging from 1 to 3, where 1 is the safest. The output of the system was verified by comparison with a questionnaire from three passengers in a test run experiment.

In this paper, we present a depth scaling method for multiview images that could provide an effective control of stereoscopic depth range. Unlike the previous works that change a camera configuration, our proposed method utilizes depth data in order to carry out the scaling of a depth range requested by users. In particular, our method can deal with multiview images captured by multiple cameras, and can be expanded from stereoscopic to multiview images. Our experimental results tested on automultiscopic 3D displays show that the perceived depth is appropriately scaled according to a user's preferred depth.

In this paper, we introduce a new seeking control method based on the frequency shaped final-state control (FFSC). The seeking control method is a two-degree-of-freedom control, which is the plant-based feedforward control. The feedforward control input is designed through zero-order-hold using FFSC which imposes the constraints on control input magnitude and its frequency components to minimize residual vibrations. The reference generation is made through a feedforward path controller which is in the form of the zero-phase error tracking controller (ZPETC) of the nominal plant. The reference prefilter is designed to compensate the delay in the control system via the ZPETC. Mode switching control (MSC) is employed to enhance tracking performance after settling. An add-on type disturbance observer that is in the form of finite impulse response is used with the feedback controller. From the simulation results, the proposed method shows the improvement to the settling and disturbance rejection.

One of the requirements that power electronics circuits may satisfy are conducted and radiated noise specifications. While the first one is well covered in the literature, the later is not. Regulations on radiated emissions impose limits on noise levels measured three or ten meters far away from the electronic equipment. These measurements are usually made in anechoic chambers, which are a very expensive resource. Also, the measurement procedure is not a 《plug-and-play》 feature, but a carefully protocol of measurement is required. Once the electronic circuit has been tested, and in case the regulation has not been met, the designer usually doesn't know the source of the problem. Then a 'cut-and-try' procedure is commonly used to reduce emissions, and in such process the designer's experience plays a major role. A new radiated noise measurement technique is proposed in this paper with two objectives: to simplify the measurement procedure and to provide more information about the noise sources. The main idea is to scan the electromagnetic field at two arbitrary but known distances from the electronic circuit. From these measurements, the Source Reconstruction Technique (SRT) allows the identification of noise sources on the surface of the circuit and the estimation of field levels at any distance, so that regulation compliance can be evaluated.

Scientists has largely understand the structure of glass and the ion trajectories has largely relied on statistical analysis of data collected from experimental measurement and computer simulation. Invariably, the details of the structure-transport relationships in the data have been ignored in favor of ensemble average. In this works, we present a visual study of such relationships using surface-based visualization techniques. In particular, we consider a simulated three-dimensional (3D) time-varying model of ion trajectories, and examine the spatio-temporal collaborative among mobile ions. Our goal is to devise effective visual representations to aid scientists especially biologists in identifying possible collaborative behaviors and their spatial and temporal association among complex and seemingly chaotic atom movements in ion trajectories. We propose a hybrid scheme that used 3D glyphs for orientation, color scale and codeword for depicting the time and opacity with highlight and de-highlight factors for collaborative ion dynamic events.

The malicious botnets are evaluated as the serious threat of the Internet society in future. As the botnets are more clever and artful, the detection of botnets is not easy. Recently malicious botnets evolve into HTTP botnets out of typical IRC botnets and it is difficult to response effectively with existing methods which are using DNS traffic. In this paper, we show the relations of HTTP clients to HTTP servers, and propose the method to search malicious HTTP botnets by using degree of periodic repeatability.

We model the sum and product riddle in public announcement logic, which is interpreted on an epistemic Kripke model. The model is symbolically represented as a finite state program with n agents. A model checking method to the riddle is developed by using the BDD-based symbolic model checking algorithm for logic of knowledge we developed in [7]. The method is implemented by extending the model checker MCTK [7] and then the solution of the riddle is verified successfully.
