The COVID-19 pandemic has forced a sudden change of traditional office works to smart working models, which however force many workers staying at home with a significant increase of sedentary lifestyle. Metabolic disorders, mental illnesses, and musculoskeletal injuries are also caused by the physical inactivity and chronic stress at work, threatening office workers' physical and physiological health. In the modern vision of smart workplaces, cyber-physical systems play a central role to augment objects, environments, and workers with integrated sensing, data processing, and communication capabilities. In this context, a work engagement system is proposed to monitor psycho-physical comfort and provide health suggestion to the office workers. Recognizing their activity, such as sitting postures and facial expressions, could help assessing the level of work engagement. In particular, head and body posture could reflects their state of engagement, boredom or neutral condition. In this paper we proposed a method to recognize such activities using an infrared sensor array by analyzing the sitting postures. The proposed approach can unobstructively sense their activities in a privacy-preserving way. To evaluate the performance of the system, a working scenario has been set up, and their activities were annotated by reviewing the video of the subjects. We carried out an experimental analysis and compared Decision Tree and k-NN classifiers, both of them showed high recognition rate for the eight postures. As to the work engagement assessment, we analyzed the sitting postures to give the users suggestions to take a break when the postures such as lean left/right with arm support, lean left/right without arm support happens very often.

Disentangling Prosody Representations with Unsupervised Speech Reconstruction

Human speech can be characterized by different components, including semantic content, speaker identity and prosodic information. Significant progress has been made in disentangling representations for semantic content and speaker identity in Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and speaker verification tasks respectively. However, it is still an open challenging research question to extract prosodic information because of the intrinsic association of different attributes, such as timbre and rhythm, and because of the need for supervised training schemes to achieve robust large-scale and speaker-independent ASR. The aim of this paper is to address the disentanglement of emotional prosody from speech based on unsupervised reconstruction. Specifically, we identify, design, implement and integrate three crucial components in our proposed speech reconstruction model Prosody2Vec: (1) a unit encoder that transforms speech signals into discrete units for semantic content, (2) a pretrained speaker verification model to generate speaker identity embeddings, and (3) a trainable prosody encoder to learn prosody representations. We first pretrain the Prosody2Vec representations on unlabelled emotional speech corpora, then fine-tune the model on specific datasets to perform Speech Emotion Recognition (SER) and Emotional Voice Conversion (EVC) tasks. Both objective (weighted and unweighted accuracies) and subjective (mean opinion score) evaluations on the EVC task suggest that Prosody2Vec effectively captures general prosodic features that can be smoothly transferred to other emotional speech. In addition, our SER experiments on the IEMOCAP dataset reveal that the prosody features learned by Prosody2Vec are complementary and beneficial for the performance of widely used speech pretraining models and surpass the state-of-the-art methods when combining Prosody2Vec with HuBERT representations. In a wireless network, multiple channels can increase network capacity. However, it causes other problems, e.g., multi-channel hidden terminal problem and the issue about how to allocate channels to wireless nodes. Basically, a well-defined channel assignment can avoid radio interference and improve transmission performance. Therefore, in this study, we proposed a multiple channel assignment scheme, called concentric-hexagon-oriented multichannel assignment (CHOMA for short), in which all deployed eNBs are organized as concentric-hexagon (C-hexa for short). Available channels are grouped and then allocated to the C-hexas. We also arrange channels allocated to a C-hexa so as to reduce radio interference among its eNBs, consequentially improving the transmission capability and performance of a wireless network. Experimental results show that the CHOMA is really an interference-free scheme, no matter whether the target system is a network with SISO, SIMO, MISO or MIMO stations. This paper introduces the Biometrics Data Space framework, which is a secure ecosystem built on Data Spaces technology and it is designed to address the challenges of suspect identification during cross-border crime investigation. Apart from Data Spaces technology, the proposed framework innovates by leveraging also Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs) and blockchain to enable secure, trustworthy, and sovereign data exchange between Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) across borders. Specifically, it utilizes advanced PETs, including Large-Scale Biometric Data Indexing based on deep hashing techniques and Homomorphic Encryption to allow for suspect identification without disclosing sensitive information of personal biometric data. Thus, it enables LEAs to securely compare and exchange encrypted sensitive biometric data, including facial images, fingerprints and voiceprints, while maintaining data privacy and data sovereignty. LEAs define the usage rules for the biometic data they own and these rules are enforced to and respected by the other LEAs participating in the Biometrics Data Space. The proposed architecture is designed to be scalable, allowing the incorporation of additional biometric modalitiies and the easy expansion and integration with new participant LEAs.

With the advancement of information technology in the recent decades, digital and online services have become essential components of everyday life in Europe. Montenegro is no different in this regard. However, as digital literacy in the country is still in a developing phase in comparison with most countries of the EU, a higher portion of its citizens may rely on assistive technical communication. In this paper, we provide a case study on the assistive technical communication of Montenegrin eServices. The work addresses the sectors of online banking, healthcare services, higher education, national administrative services, and utilities. Our findings highlight the diversity in terms of implemented assistive technical communication, and distinguish usage contexts on the level of adequacy. Yet as the functionalities of Montenegrin eServices are expected to gradually expand in the upcoming years, assistive technical communication must aim to handle the higher extents of service complexity. © 2023 IEEE.

Integer factorization is a significant problem, with implications for the security of widely-used cryptographic schemes. No efficient classical algorithm for polynomial-time integer factorization has been found despite extensive research. Although Peter Shor’s breakthrough quantum algorithm offers a viable solution, current limitations of noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) computers hinder its practical implementation. To address this, researchers have explored alternative methods for factorization suitable for NISQ devices. One such method is the Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm, which treats factoring as an optimization problem defined over binary bits, resulting in various problematic aspects. In this paper, we explore the Func-QAOA approach for factorization, which premises overcoming some of the limitations of previous approaches and allows the incorporation of more advanced factorization techniques. After reviewing the most promising quantum implementations for integer arithmetics, we present a few illustrative examples to demonstrate the efficacy of the Func-QAOA approach and discuss methods to reduce the search space to speed up the optimization process. An Event Correlation Filtering Framework for Fake News Detection

Nowadays, deep learning models have achieved great progress to tackle the problem of fake news detection. However, they usually restrict each news as a separated event and ignore the credibility correlation between events and news (CCEN). In this research, we creatively introduce the CCEN as an explainable promotion factor in fake news detection, and further design an event correlation filtering framework (ECFF). In our framework, a news characterizer is responsible for extracting the correlated events of news, which cooperates with a pseudo annotator to initialize the event credibility to assign pseudo labels for unlabeled news. In addition, a filtering updater is designed to reconstruct Kalman filter to resist the fluctuation in the news credibility. Further, an entropy selector automatically selects high-quality samples from pseudo labeled news by quantifying their news entropy to enlarge the training set. Finally, the integrated ECFF exploits the CCEN to improve the detection performance of fake news. Extensive experiments prove that the explainable introduction of the CCEN is beneficial and our proposed ECFF outperforms the state-of-the-art methods in fake news detection. © 2022, The Authors. This paper studies enhanced dense code multiple access (DCMA) system design for downlink transmission over the Nakagami-m fading channels. By studying the DCMA pairwise error probability (PEP) in a Nakagami-m channel, a novel design metric called minimum logarithmic sum distance (MLSD) is first derived. With respect to the proposed MLSD, we introduce a new family of power-imbalanced dense codebooks by deleting certain rows of a special non-unimodular circulant matrix. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed dense codebooks lead to both larger minimum Euclidean distance and MLSD, thus yielding significant improvements of error performance over the existing sparse code multiple access and conventional unimodular DCMA schemes in Nakagami-m fading channels under different overloading factors. The Covid-19 pandemic has affected various aspects of life, one of which is education. In some certain areas, at this time the government has issued an interim policy that education provider institutions such as college, schools and its kind to conduct learning activities from home. The existence of this policy makes a change in learning patterns that are usually face-to-face to being forced to apply distance learning methods (online learnings). The limited internet quota, space and time during online learning, as well as different levels of understanding of each student make teaching methods with question and answer also hampered. The solution to that problem, we propose online learning media using Telegram Chatbot. The purpose of this research is to make the Telegram Chatbot as an online learning media with case studies of programming courses, so that be expected students can get learning with the way questions and answers about programming that can be accessed anytime and anywhere, without having to always tied to the educator. The Telegram Chatbot development method using the Prototype Method which is divided into three main stages, which are (1) system requirements analysis, (2) system design and development, and (3) evaluation.
