Printed Electronics (PE) provide a mechanically flexible and cost-effective solution for machine learning (ML) circuits, compared to silicon-based technologies. However, due to large feature sizes, printed classifiers are limited by high power, area, and energy overheads, which restricts the realization of battery-powered systems. In this work, we design sequential printed bespoke Support Vector Machine (SVM) circuits that adhere to the power constraints of existing printed batteries while minimizing energy consumption, thereby boosting battery life. Our results show 6.5x energy savings while maintaining higher accuracy compared to the state of the art.

This paper introduces XMeta-OS, a meta-operating system specially designed with Linux as its foundation to unify and optimize resource management for the distributed edge-cloud when dynamic use of GPU resources is possible. This approach offer a new GPU abstraction layer and dynamic edge-cloud allocation model that offer enhanced flexibility and resource utilization over existing systems like Kubernetes and OpenStack. By using likely sensitive data, the model applied cloud-pushed deployment model. XMeta-OS manages computer resources in real-time. Therefore, fulfilling high performance various needs. It allocates CPU and GPU in real-time to workloads requiring massive parallel processing, such as machine learning, scientific simulations, real-time data analytics, and transportation tasks. Fabrication in the laboratory of an edge-cloud environment can help to assess the scalability, fault tolerance and efficiency of the system. It showcases the overall architectural design of XMeta-OS. Changes to the kernel and security solutions for safe and effective distribution are suggested. This article presents the design of the XMeta-OS. The future of XMeta-OS entails usage and testing with which we see latency, energy, computation and other such measurements in labs. XMeta-OS is a solution to cost performance, emerging application, large-scale edge-cloud deployments, and distributed GPU-enabled infrastructures. Job Resumes Recommendation using Integration of Fuzzy Discernibility Matrix Feature Selection and Convolutional Neural Network Multi-label Text Classification

The manual analysis of job resumes poses specific challenges, including the time-intensive process and the high likelihood of human error, emphasizing the need for automation in content-based recommendations. Recent advancements in deep learning, particularly Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) for Multi-label Text Classification (MLTC), offer a promising solution for addressing these challenges through artificial intelligence. While CNN is renowned for its robust feature extraction capabilities, it faces specific challenges such as managing high-dimensional data and poor data interpretability. To address these limitations, this study employs the Fuzzy Discernibility Matrix (FDM) feature selection technique to determine the relevance of skills for each job vacancy. FDM assigns weights to the features of each job category and ranks their relevance based on the highest scores, which are then utilized in the MLTC CNN model. The integration of FDM and MLTC CNN serves as the foundation for generating content-based recommendations derived from key features in job resumes. This study produces a content-based job recommendation system that displays the top three job categories, accompanied by explanations of the skills supporting each selected category. These recommendations also consider cosine similarity values between analyzed items and the integrated results of FDM and MLTC CNN. The application of FDM for feature weighting has been proven to enhance multi-label text classification outcomes by providing better insights during the feature selection process. With a recall of 97.26%, precision of 94.81%, and accuracy of 98.58%, the MLTC model integrating FDM feature selection and CNN demonstrates robust performance characteristics in content-based job recommendation tasks. © 2025 Slovene Society Informatika. Telerehabilitation systems leveraging depth video analysis provide an effective solution for remote physiotherapy, particularly for individuals with physical disabilities. This study presents an advanced exercise classification framework that integrates multi-modal feature extraction and attention-based transformation to enhance rehabilitation monitoring. The proposed pipeline begins with depth image preprocessing, followed by human detection using a pre-trained Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG)-Support Vector Machine (SVM) model. The human silhouette is segmented using the GrabCut algorithm, enabling robust region-of-interest extraction. We propose a novel Lightweight Two-tier Key Body Point Detection (LT-KBPD) algorithm to efficiently and accurately identify key skeletal points, which are then used to extract both static and dynamic kinematic features. In parallel, silhouette-based analysis is performed, where shape descriptors, dense optical flow, Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM)-based body part segmentation, and contour analysis extract spatial and motion-related features. The extracted feature sets are fused into a comprehensive feature vector and further refined using an attention-based transformation mechanism to highlight salient features relevant to exercise classification. Finally, a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network is employed to model temporal dependencies and classify exercises with high accuracy. The proposed approach is validated on three benchmark depth-video datasets: Kimore, K3DA and MEx - Multi-modal Exercise Dataset, achieving classification accuracies of 92.19%, 91.35%, and 85.51%, respectively. These results demonstrate the system’s effectiveness in accurately recognizing rehabilitation exercises for individuals with physical disabilities. Future work aims to enhance the adaptability of the system through personalized rehabilitation feedback and improved temporal modeling techniques. © 2013 IEEE.

This study addresses the formidable challenges encountered in automated brain tumor segmentation, including the complexities of irregular shapes, ambiguous boundaries, and intensity variations across MRI modalities. Manual segmentation, plagued by subjectivity and time constraints, further exacerbates the problem. To address these issues, we propose a modified U-Net architecture with an integrated attention gate. The proposed model demonstrates high performance, with notable Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC) and Jaccard Index (JI) values across various tumor classes, consistently exceeding 0.93 and 0.87, respectively. Incorporating Contrast-Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization and Histogram Equalization improves segmentation accuracy, particularly in cases of Meningioma. Comparative analyses against established models reveal a DSC of 0.9521 and a JI of 0.9093, underscoring the superiority of our method. Validation in the BraTS 2021 dataset underscores the robustness of the method, achieving high DSC and JI scores in four MRI modalities, with the T2 modality demonstrating the highest performance (DSC: 0.9216, JI: 0.8556). While acknowledging these achievements, we recognize challenges related to dataset specificity and computational intensity associated with the attention gate. Future research efforts should address these issues to improve the generalizability and applicability of the method in real-world scenarios. In addition to presenting a novel automated brain tumor segmentation method, this study contributes comprehensive result values and comparative analyses with previous research, providing valuable insights into the evolving landscape of medical image analysis. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.

As more than 70% of reviews in the existing opinion summary data set are positive, current opinion summarization approaches are hesitant to generate negative summaries given the input of negative texts. To address such sentiment bias, a direct approach without the reliance on a specific structure is to generate additional data based on large language models to balance the emotional distribution of the dataset. However, large-scale data augmentation based on large language models faces an apparent disadvantage, the expensive costs. Therefore, in this paper, we propose LASS, a novel data augmentation framework based on both LArge and Small language models for debiaSing opinion summarization. Specifically, a small number of synthesized negative reviews is obtained by rewriting the positive text via a large language model. Then, a disentangle reconstruction model is trained based on the generated data. After training, a large amount of synthetic data can be obtained by decoding the new representation obtained from the combination of different sample representations and filtering based on perplexity degree and sentiment classification. Experiments have proved that LASS can effectively alleviate emotional bias, similar to using only large models, but in a more economical way. © 2025 Association for Computational Linguistics.

The growing number of networked devices and complex network infrastructures necessitates robust network security measures. Network intrusion detection systems are crucial for identifying and mitigating malicious activities within network environments. Traditional intrusion detection systems (IDS) often struggle to adapt to new and evolving threats. To address these limitations, researchers are increasingly turning to advanced methodologies such as deep learning (DL), reinforcement learning (RL), and ensemble learning (EL), which offer enhanced capabilities in detecting sophisticated and previously unseen attacks. This systematic literature review (SLR) evaluates 33 technical studies from 2020 to 2024 on the application of DL, RL, and EL in IDS. The study reviews the DL and RL methods used in IDS, along with detection methods that employ EL techniques, to combine the strengths of these approaches. It highlights the advantages, disadvantages, and applicability of the proposed techniques, while also suggesting potential improvements. The aim of this SLR is to provide researchers and practitioners with a comprehensive understanding of current IDS methodologies leveraging DL, RL, and EL, enabling the development of more effective and resilient network security solutions. In this paper, we introduce a novel normative modeling approach that incorporates focal loss and adversarial autoencoders (FAAE) for Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) diagnosis and biomarker identification. Our method is an end-to-end approach that embeds an adversarial focal loss discriminator within the autoencoder structure, specifically designed to effectively target and capture more complex and challenging cases. We first use the enhanced autoencoder to create a normative model based on data from healthy control (HC) individuals. We then apply this model to estimate total and regional neuroanatomical deviation in AD patients. Through extensive experiments on the OASIS-3 and ADNI datasets, our approach significantly outperforms previous state-of-the-art methods. This advancement not only streamlines the detection process but also provides a greater insight into the biomarker potential for AD.
