MDFNet: an unsupervised lightweight network for ear print recognition

In this paper, we propose an unsupervised lightweight network with a single layer for ear print recognition. We refer to this method by MDFNet because it relies on gradient Magnitude and Direction alongside with responses of data-driven Filters. At first, we align ear using Convolution Neural Network (CNN) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA). MDFNet starts by generating a filter bank from training images using PCA. This is followed by a twofold layer, which comprises two operations namely convolution using learned filters and computation of gradient image. To prevent over-fitting, a binary hashing process is done by combining different filter responses into a single feature map. Then, we separately construct histograms for each of gradient magnitude and direction according to the feature map. These histograms are then normalized, using power-L2 rule, to cope with illumination disparity. Several fusion rules are evaluated to combine the two histograms. The main novelty of MDFNet lies in its simple architecture, effectiveness, the good compromise between processing time and performance it provides along with its high robustness to occlusion. We conduct extensive experiments on three public datasets namely AWE, AMI and IIT Delhi II. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of MDFNet, which achieves high recognition rates (82.5%, 97.67% and 98.96%, respectively), and outperformed several state of the art methods with a high robustness to occlusion. In this paper, we introduce InternVL 1.5, an open-source multimodal large language model(MLLM) to bridge the capability gap between open-source and proprietary commercial models in multimodal understanding. We introduce three simple improvements.(1) Strong vision encoder: we explored a continuous learning strategy for the large-scale vision foundation model — InternViT-6B, boosting its visual understanding capabilities, and making it can be transferred and reused in different LLMs.(2) Dynamic high-resolution: we divide images into tiles ranging from 1 to 40 of 448×448 pixels according to the aspect ratio and resolution of the input images, which supports up to 4K resolution input.(3) High-quality bilingual dataset: we carefully collected a high-quality bilingual dataset that covers common scenes, document images,and annotated them with English and Chinese question-answer pairs, significantly enhancing performance in optical character recognition(OCR) and Chinese-related tasks. We evaluate InternVL 1.5 through a series of benchmarks and comparative studies. Compared to both open-source and proprietary commercial models, InternVL 1.5 shows competitive performance, achieving state-of-the-art results in 8 of 18 multimodal benchmarks. Previous works on unsupervised skeleton-based action recognition primarily focused on strategies for utilizing features to drive model optimization through methods like contrastive learning and reconstruction. However, designing application-level strategies poses challenges. This paper shifts the focus to the generation-level modelings and introduces the Spatiotemporal Adaptively Attentions-guided Refining Network (AgRNet). AgRNet approaches the reduction of costs and enhancement of efficiency by constructing the Adaptive Activity- Guided Attention (AAGA) and Adaptive Dominant-Guided Attenuation (ADGA) modules. The AAGA leverages the sparsity of the correlation matrix in the attention mechanism to adaptively filter and retain the active components of the sequence during the modeling process. The ADGA embeds the local dominant features of the sequence, obtained through convolutional distillation, into the globally dominant features under the attention mechanism, guided by the defined attenuation factor. Additionally, the Progressive Feature Modeling (PFM) module is introduced to complement the progressive features in motion sequences that were overlooked by AAGA and ADGA. In the cloud environment,ensuring a high level of data security is in high *** planning storage optimization is part of the whole security process in the cloud *** enables data security by avoiding the risk of data loss and data *** development of data flow scheduling approaches in the cloud environment taking security parameters into account is *** our work,we propose a data scheduling model for the cloud *** is made up of three parts that together help dispatch user data flow to the appropriate *** first component is the Collector Agent whichmust periodically collect information on the state of the network *** second one is the monitoring agent which must then analyze,classify,and make a decision on the state of the link and finally transmit this information to the *** third one is the scheduler who must consider previous information to transfer user data,including fair distribution and reliable *** should be noted that each part of the proposedmodel requires the development of its *** this article,we are interested in the development of data transfer algorithms,including fairness distribution with the consideration of a stable link *** algorithms are based on the grouping of transmitted files and the iterative *** proposed algorithms showthe performances to obtain an approximate solution to the studied problem which is an NP-hard(Non-Polynomial solution)*** experimental results show that the best algorithm is the half-grouped minimum excluding(HME),with a percentage of 91.3%,an average deviation of 0.042,and an execution time of 0.001 s.

Prediction of three-dimensional ocean temperature in the South China Sea based on time series gridded data and a dynamic spatiotemporal graph neural network

Ocean temperature is an important physical variable in marine ecosystems,and ocean temperature prediction is an important research objective in ocean-related ***,one of the commonly used methods for ocean temperature prediction is based on data-driven,but research on this method is mostly limited to the sea surface,with few studies on the prediction of internal ocean *** graph neural network-based methods usually use predefined graphs or learned static graphs,which cannot capture the dynamic associations among *** this study,we propose a novel dynamic spatiotemporal graph neural network(DSTGN)to predict threedimensional ocean temperature(3D-OT),which combines static graph learning and dynamic graph learning to automatically mine two unknown dependencies between sequences based on the original 3D-OT data without prior *** and spatial dependencies in the time series were then captured using temporal and graph *** also integrated dynamic graph learning,static graph learning,graph convolution,and temporal convolution into an end-to-end framework for 3D-OT prediction using time-series grid *** this study,we conducted prediction experiments using high-resolution 3D-OT from the Copernicus global ocean physical reanalysis,with data covering the vertical variation of temperature from the sea surface to 1000 m below the sea *** compared five mainstream models that are commonly used for ocean temperature prediction,and the results showed that the method achieved the best prediction results at all prediction scales.

An efficient Quasi-Affine Transformation Evolutionary algorithm with fixed dimension updating and its application in UAV 3D path planning

Quasi-Affine Transformation Evolutionary (QUATRE) algorithm is a kind of swarm-based collaborative optimization algorithm that solves the problem of a position deviation in a DE search by using the co-evolution matrix M instead of the cross-control parameter CR in the differential evolution algorithm (DE). However, QUATRE shares some of the same weaknesses as DE, such as premature convergence and search stagnation. Inspired by the artificial bee colony algorithm (ABC), we propose a new QUATRE algorithm to improve these problems that ranks all the individuals and evolves only the poorer half of the population. In an evolving population, individuals of different levels intersect with dimensions of different sizes to improve search efficiency and accuracy. In addition, we establish a better selection framework for the parent generation individuals and select more excellent parent individuals to complete the evolution for the individuals trapped in search stagnation. To verify the performance of the new QUATRE algorithm, we divide the comparison algorithm into three groups, including ABC variant group, DE variant group, and QUATRE variant group, and the CEC2014 test suite is used for the comparison. The experimental results show the new QUATRE algorithm performance is competitive. We also successfully apply the new QUATRE algorithm on the 3D path planning of UAV, and compared with the other famous algorithm performance it is still outstanding, which verifies the algorithm's practicability. © 2024 - IOS Press.
