Solar Radiation Estimation Based on a New Combined Approach of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and Genetic Algorithms (GA) in South Algeria

When designing solar systems and assessing the effectiveness of their many uses,estimating sun irradiance is a crucial first *** study examined three approaches(ANN,GA-ANN,and ANFIS)for estimating daily global solar radiation(GSR)in the south of Algeria:Adrar,Ouargla,and *** proposed hybrid GA-ANN model,based on genetic algorithm-based optimization,was developed to improve the ANN *** GA-ANN and ANFIS models performed better than the standalone ANN-based model,with GA-ANN being better suited for forecasting in all sites,and it performed the best with the best values in the testing phase of Coefficient of Determination(R=0.9005),Mean Absolute Percentage Error(MAPE=8.40%),and Relative Root Mean Square Error(rRMSE=12.56%).Nevertheless,the ANFIS model outperformed the GA-ANN model in forecasting daily GSR,with the best values of indicators when testing the model being R=0.9374,MAPE=7.78%,and rRMSE=10.54%.Generally,we may conclude that the initial ANN stand-alone model performance when forecasting solar radiation has been improved,and the results obtained after injecting the genetic algorithm into the ANN to optimize its weights were *** model can be used to forecast daily GSR in dry climates and other climates and may also be helpful in selecting solar energy system installations and sizes.

Over the past few decades, the field of metaheuristics optimization has undergone rapid development. More than 650 different metaheuristic algorithms have been created so far. Among these, the Electric Eel Foraging Optimization (EEFO) stands out as a recently developed bio-inspired algorithm. To extend its application to binary optimization, particularly the 0-1 knapsack problem (KP01), we introduce a binary version of EEFO, termed EB-EEFO. The proposed algorithm employs two kinds of transfer functions, S-shaped and V-shaped, to shift from the continuous to binary search space. Additionally, we propose an enhanced repair and improvement (RI) method to address infeasible solutions, aiming to enhance solution diversity by reducing the inherent greedy nature of the traditional RI method. To Study the competitiveness of the new RI method, we develop the binary versions of five different algorithms using the RI method found in the literature, including, EEFO (B-EEFO), B-RIME, One-to-One-Based Optimizer (B-OOBO), Sinh Cosh Optimizer (B-SCHO), and Newton-Raphson-Based Optimizer (B-NRBO). The performance of these algorithms is evaluated using a dataset of 25 instances of KP01. The concluding remarks commend the performance of the EB-EEFO. © 2024 IEEE.

An air writing alphabet recognition system based on the images of temporal spectrogram such as average range-time map, average Doppler-time map and average angle-time map derived from an mmWave FMCW radar is proposed. All 26 English lowercase letters written in midair right above the radar sensor can be recognized. Two valuable radar data sets are introduced in diverse environments such as meeting room, office cubicle and living room etc. The use case is the usage scenarios of laptop computers and mobile phones. In one data set, volunteers write freely in their own handwriting styles including different hand speeds and different stroke orders. In the other data set, volunteers are asked to write according to a prescribed sequence of strokes. Then, the gestures sensed by radar are processed into images of temporal spectrogram to represent the written letter. A convolutional neural network which achieves 98.6% test accuracy is exploited as the classifier to recognize the air written alphabet. In the Leave-One-Subject-Out (LOSO) cross validation, it achieves an average test accuracy of 87.74%. The effectiveness of the proposed alphabet recognition system is extensively verified on the two created data sets for different variants of temporal spectrograms. Generic re-usable pre-trained image representation encoders have become a standard component of methods for many computer vision tasks. As visual representations for robots however, their utility has been limited, leading to a recent wave of efforts to pre-train robotics-specific image encoders that are better suited to robotic tasks than their generic counterparts. We propose Scene Objects From Transformers, abbreviated as SOFT(•), a wrapper around pre-trained vision transformer (PVT) models that bridges this gap without any further training. Rather than construct representations out of only the final layer activations, SOFT(•) individuates and locates object-like entities from PVT attentions, and describes them with PVT activations, producing an object-centric embedding. Across standard choices of generic pre-trained vision transformers PVT, we demonstrate in each case that policies trained on SOFT(PVT) far outstrip standard PVT representations for manipulation tasks in simulated and real settings, approaching the state-of-the-art robotics-aware representations. Enhancing V2X QoS: dynamic scheduling scheme over 5G networks and byon

Over the years, various research teams have dedicated efforts to create scheduling algorithms that are not only effective but also efficient, with the goal of enhancing the quality of service in Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication over 5G (5 Generation) networks. The proliferation of connected vehicles and the advent of 5G technologies present an unprecedented opportunity to optimize communication reliability, latency, and throughput in V2X scenarios. This paper introduces a novel scheduling that adapts to the dynamic nature of vehicular environments, ensuring seamless and efficient communication. The proposed scheduling scheme takes into consideration the traffic prioritization to effectively manage Quality of Service (QoS) for diverse traffic types. This approach considers different metrics such as channel quality, remaining payload, and delay. The results of our simulation show how well our Scheduling V2X Communications (SVC) algorithm performs, leading to minimizing latencies. For a sample of 100 users, the average latency in our suggested scheme was less than 0.001 ms. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management 2024.

Mobile Opportunistic Networks (MONs) often experience frequent interruptions in end-to-end connections, which increases the likelihood of message loss during delivery and makes users more susceptible to various cyber attacks. However, most currently proposed anonymous routing protocols are primarily designed for networks with stable connections, making it challenging to protect user identities in MONs. To address these challenges, we propose FLAG-POR (Forward Legal Anonymous Group Pairing-Onion Routing), a novel anonymous routing protocol specifically tailored to enhance message delivery anonymity and security in MONs. Specifically, we abstract the mobile opportunistic network as a contact graph. By introducing the concept of "groups» into the pairing-onion routing protocol, which encrypts messages and relay nodes layer by layer, we develop a novel group-based pairing-onion routing protocol. This protocol ensures message confidentiality and relay node anonymity, while also improving message forwarding rates, as any node within a group can potentially act as a relay. To ensure message authenticity, we employ the efficient SM2 signing algorithm to generate signatures for the message source. Furthermore, by incorporating parameters such as the public key validity period and master key validity period into the group pairing-onion routing protocol, we achieve forward security in message delivery. We conduct a thorough theoretical analysis of the protocol's security and performance. The experimental results demonstrate that our FLAG-POR protocol outperforms baseline anonymous protocols in terms of delivery success rate, traceability rate, path anonymity, and node anonymity. Additionally, the FLAG-POR scheme effectively resists three potential threats to the routing system: collusion attack threat, node identification threat, and path identification threat, in any situation. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

Dual-Mode Resonant Sectorial Monopole Antenna with Stable Backfire Gain

A novel design approach to wideband, dual-mode resonant monopole antenna with stable, enhanced backfire gain is advanced. The sectorial monopole evolves from a linear, 0.75-wavelength electric prototype monopole under wideband dual-mode resonant operation. As theoretically predicted by the two resonant modes TE3/5,1and TE9/5,1within a 150° radiator, the operation principle is revealed at first. As have been numerically demonstrated and experimentally validated at 2.4-GHz band, the designed antenna exhibits a wide impedance bandwidth over 90.1%（i.e., 2.06–5.44 GHz）, in which the stable gain bandwidth in the backfire,-x-direction（θ = 90°, φ = 180°） with peak value of 3.2 dBi and fluctuation less than 3 dB is up to 45.3%（i.e., 3.74–5.44 GHz）. It is concluded that the stable wideband backfire gain frequency response should be owing to the high-order resonant mode in the unique sectorial monopole antennas.

Collaborative Service Provisioning for UAV-Assisted Mobile Edge Computing

Unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)-assisted mobile edge computing(MEC), as a way of coping with delaysensitive and computing-intensive tasks, is considered to be a key technology to solving the challenges of terrestrial MEC networks. In this work, we study the problem of collaborative service provisioning(CSP) for UAV-assisted MEC. Specifically, taking into account the task latency and other resource constraints, this paper investigates how to minimize the total energy consumption of all terrestrial user equipments, by jointly optimizing computing resource allocation, task offloading, UAV trajectory, and service placement. The CSP problem is a non-convex mixed integer nonlinear programming problem, owing to the complex coupling of mixed integral variables and non-convexity of CSP. To address the CSP problem, this paper proposes an alternating optimization-based solution with the convergence guarantee as follows. We iteratively deal with the joint service placement and task offloading subproblem, and UAV movement trajectory subproblem, by branch and bound and successive convex approximation, respectively,while the closed form of the optimal computation resource allocation can be efficiently obtained. Extensive simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm compared to three baselines.
