Imitation Game for Adversarial Disillusion With Chain-of-Thought Reasoning in Generative AI

As the cornerstone of artificial intelligence, machine perception confronts a fundamental threat posed by adversarial illusions. These adversarial attacks manifest in two primary forms: deductive illusion, where specific stimuli are crafted based on the victim model’s general decision logic, and inductive illusion, where the victim model’s general decision logic is shaped by specific stimuli. The former exploits the model’s decision boundaries to create a stimulus that, when applied, interferes with its decision-making process. The latter reinforces a conditioned reflex in the model, embedding a backdoor during its learning phase that, when triggered by a stimulus, causes aberrant behaviors. The multifaceted nature of adversarial illusions calls for a unified defence framework, addressing vulnerabilities across various forms of attack. In this study, we propose a disillusion paradigm based on the concept of an imitation game. At the heart of the imitation game lies a multimodal generative agent, steered by chain-of-thought reasoning, which observes, internalizes and reconstructs the semantic essence of a sample, liberated from the classic pursuit of reversing the sample to its original state. As a proof of concept, we conduct experimental simulations using a multimodal generative dialogue agent and evaluates the methodology under a variety of attack scenarios. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed framework consistently neutralizes both deductive and inductive adversarial illusions across diverse white-box and black-box attack scenarios.

This investigation aimed to clarify the effects of the frequency of resampling of the RR interval and length of the analysis interval to simplify the analysis of heart rate variability (HRV) for the evaluation of the autonomic nerve system (ANS). The subjects were 15 male university students, and the experiment consisted of 10 min of rest and 10 min of a pleasant-emotion-induction task, for a total of 20 min. The heart rate and pulse rate were detected from the measured electrocardiogram and pulse waves. RR intervals were used to analyze sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve activity. The resampling frequency was set to 2, 4, and 10 Hz. The analysis times were 30, 60, 120, 300, and 600 s for the 10-min resting period and 30, 60, and 300 s for the changes associated with the induction of pleasant emotions. The total power (TP), high-frequency (HF) power, and low-frequency (LF) power exhibited an interaction between the resampling frequency and analysis time. In the pleasant-emotion-induction task, significant differences were observed among HF/TP, LF/TP, and LF/HF at 2, 4, and 10 Hz. However, when the analysis time was set to 30 s, the number of measurement points where statistically significant differences were obtained was limited. The present investigation demonstrates that the sensitivity of the relative ANS index may decrease with decreasing analysis time. The results of this investigation suggest that while a shorter measurement time is consistent with adequate rest, the sensitivity of the ANS index to capture minute changes in the body needs to be considered. © 2022 IEEE.

As the dengue infection still impacts hundreds of millions of people globally, unprecedented efforts in dengue drug development have been more progressive in recent decades. Computational methods provide a fast, sustainable, and efficient screening of active compounds and newly created drug molecules, including those specifically targeting nonstructural proteins (NS) of dengue viruses. In this work, protein modeling for the NS proteins of DENV-2/16681 strain was performed using a template-based homology modeling for the NS3 protein and an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based prediction via AlphaFold for the NS4B protein. Moreover, the protein-protein interaction between the two structures was predicted using the HADDOCK server, which employs information about active and passive residues of the interaction interface to guide the docking process. After the modeling and its respective refinement process, the predicted structures of NS3 and NS4B improved their steric clashing scoring from MolProbity assessment. The refined models were then docked, and the resulting docking pose was analyzed to extract the interacting residues based on the polar contacts within the interface of the two proteins. Our result presents a preliminary study to create a dataset related to in silico molecular interactions of the NS3-NS4B interaction of different DENV types. It is helpful for building a computational pipeline for elucidating protein-ligand problems in dengue drug screenings. © 2024 The Authors.

With the advancement of technology, the digital age is exploding, which poses significant challenges to cloud data control and privacy. How to find a middle ground between data privacy protection and technological innovation? In this research paper, in order to conduct comprehensive research in the fields of cloud security and privacy, we will explore the biodiversity of clouds. The study chose a mixed method research strategy, which requires the use of multiple methods to investigate the research question and provide a richer and more complete set of questions at hand. Conducted research interviews with subject matter experts to raise my research questions;a literature review and case study were conducted to present my preliminary survey questions. Active data protection measures include the widespread use of static data encryption and access restrictions. The report concludes by introducing practices related to cloud privacy, based on real-life case studies of companies that have successfully applied these guidelines, primarily in the healthcare and financial services industries. The research provides a comprehensive investigation into privacy-aware architectures for cloud-based data processing in the services sector, aiming to identify challenges, propose solutions, and offer actionable recommendations to enhance data privacy and security. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

With the development of technology and the improvement of people’s living standards, the requirements for wastewater treatment are becoming higher and higher. In view of the current problems of environmental pollutant reduction and energy utilization, we propose to combine the semiconductor photocatalytic reaction with activated carbon membrane modules and RO membrane modules to generate strong oxidizing radicals through sunlight excitation of semiconductor photocatalytic materials at room temperature in order to achieve the treatment of harmful and refractory organic pollutants when photocatalytic materials are excited by sunlight in ordinary temperature, solving the problems of traditional wastewater treatment such as high energy consumption, incomplete treatment and easy generation of secondary pollution. The wastewater treatment apparatus designed in this paper and related technology can not only be used for the pretreatment or advanced treatment of refractory organic wastewater in pharmaceutical, breeding, and medical industries, but also for the purification of micro-polluted water sources. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Camera and LiDAR sensors play a crucial role in vehicle perception systems, enabling accurate detection of obstacles and other vehicles in autonomous driving technologies. Despite their complementary advantages, ensuring the reliability of camera data under varying environmental conditions poses a significant challenge. This paper introduces a novel system for camera data consistency checking through two methods: (1) a camera-only consistency checking mechanism utilizing an effective point-to-point feature extraction neural network inspired by the D2-Net method, and (2) a camera-LiDAR fusion data consistency checking approach employing advanced sensor fusion techniques. By integrating a critical reliability check for camera data and fusing it with LiDAR information, our system leverages the strengths of both sensor types to enhance the robustness and efficiency of autonomous vehicle navigation. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed methods significantly improve the safety and performance of autonomous driving by ensuring reliable sensor data fusion, enabling safe navigation even in challenging environments.

In this paper, we present a pose control method for rigid body motion via an input-to-state safe control barrier function (ISSf-CBF). The control objective is that a mobile robot converges to the desired pose with avoiding any obstacles under input disturbances. First, we derive a control error system to discuss stability via the Lyapunov method. Through the kinematic model for a rigid body, we design an ISSf-CBF for obstacle avoidance under input disturbances. Next, we present a control Lyapunov function (CLF) for the control error system. By using the ISSf-CBF and the CLF, we discuss a unified quadratic program formulation that ensures both safety and stability for pose control of rigid body motion under input disturbances. Our proposed approach, which deals with both the position and the orientation of rigid body motion, connects the safety and the stability via the ISSf-CBF and the CLF. Finally, simulation and experimental results confirm the validity of the proposed ISSf-CBF control method compared to the stabilizing one. ©c 2023 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

Fall risk assessment is an effective and simple measure to evaluate the balance of people especially the elderly who are likely to have balance disorder. Lose of body balance increases a fall risk which could lead to severe damage to aging persons. In this paper, we propose to apply pose estimation technique based on PoseNet method to detect body joints from webcam's video for two types of fall risk assessment: Five Times Sit to Stand Test (FTSTS) and 30-Second Chair Stand Test (30CST). The experiments were performed with 17 volunteers concurrently with the measures of a healthcare expert. The results revealed that our proposed technique corresponds well with the measure of the expert evaluating by a Pearson correlation coefficient which equals to 0.903 and 0.980 for FTSTS and 30CST respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

Terahertz wireless communication has been regarded as an emerging technology to satisfy the ever-increasing demand of ultra-high-speed wireless ***,affected by the imperfections of cheap and energy-efficient Terahertz devices,Terahertz signals suffer from serve hybrid distortions,including in-phase/quadrature imbalance,phase noise and nonlinearity,which degrade the demodulation performance *** improve the robustness against these hybrid distortions,an improved autoencoder is proposed,which includes coding the transmitted symbols at the transmitter and decoding the corresponding signals at the ***,due to the lack of information of Terahertz channel during the training of the autoencoder,a fitting network is proposed to approximate the characteristics of Terahertz channel,which provides an approximation of the gradients of *** results show that our proposed autoencoder with fitting network can recover the transmitted symbols under serious hybrid distortions,and improves the demodulation performance significantly.
