We propose an extension of the chaotic evolution algorithm into the discrete domain to address combinatorial optimization problems. In this study, we leverage the discrete chaotic evolution algorithm to tackle the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) for assessment purposes. The chaotic evolution algorithm exploits the ergodicity of chaos to facilitate the search process within the optimization algorithm. It incorporates a mathematical mechanism into the iterative evolution process, simulating ergodic motion within a search space based on a simple principle. To manage the discrete mutation operation within the chaotic evolution algorithm, we introduce a specifically designed chaotic operation. This operation is tailored for its application in solving combinatorial optimization problems. The chaotic sequence plays a crucial role in determining the mutation location. Our evaluation involves the comparison of our proposed discrete chaotic evolution algorithm with the outcomes of the simulated annealing algorithm and the tabu search algorithm. The assessment serves to demonstrate and validate that the discrete chaotic evolution algorithm yields superior optimization performance within the discrete domain.

Panoptic segmentation, which combines instance and semantic segmentation, has gained a lot of attention in autonomous vehicles, due to its comprehensive representation of the scene. This task can be applied for cameras and LiDAR sensors, but there has been a limited focus on combining both sensors to enhance image panoptic segmentation (PS). Although previous research has acknowledged the benefit of 3D data on camera-based scene perception, no specific study has explored the influence of 3D data on image and video panoptic segmentation (VPS). This work seeks to introduce a feature fusion module that enhances PS and VPS by fusing LiDAR and image data for autonomous vehicles. We also illustrate that, in addition to this fusion, our proposed model, which utilizes two simple modifications, can further deliver even more high-quality VPS without being trained on video data. The results demonstrate a substantial improvement in both the image and video panoptic segmentation evaluation metrics by up to 5 points. © 2024, CC BY.

In today’s complex global environments, it is highly challenging to achieve effective healthcare management. The critical challenges faced by healthcare management are being met by the revolution of m-health where mobile cloud computing plays a major role. The taxonomy of mobile computing comprises operational aspects, end-user issues, and service quality and mobility management. The use of smartphone technologies and applications has become a highly significant approach to improving healthcare management. Mobile health services such as mobile pathology, mobile neurosurgery, cancer treatment, and behavioral/psychological disorders are gaining significance where smartphone applications are being used. Portability, flexibility, and convenience are major characteristics of mobile computing that have helped patients and doctors to develop better relationships through coordination and communication. The relationship between smartphone technologies and applications and healthcare management can be understood in several broad aspects. This article aims to analyze the current and future implications of these technologies on healthcare and disease management systems.

After the COVID-19 pandemic, broadband internet utilization is predicted to continue to grow and experience a significant increase. The pandemic has changed how people work, study, communicate, shop, and carry out many aspects of daily life. Research reported that since 2018, research on broadband internet has continued to increase until now. This quantitative study examines the impact of the four critical variables on the link between attitude, availability, pricing, and quality of service (QoS) on broadband internet customer satisfaction using the Structural Equation Model approach and the Partial Lease Square technique. Three hundred and sixty-one citizen respondents in DKI Jakarta Province were collected using the snowball sampling method facilitated by Google Forms. At the same time, the COVID-19 post-pandemic was still ongoing in Indonesia. Through rigorous statistical analysis, the results show that customer satisfaction with broadband internet services is influenced by all factors, from attitude towards broadband Internet, broadband Internet availability, broadband Internet price, and service quality. The implications of this research are significant for service providers. They provide actionable insights for developing effective strategies to improve customer satisfaction and increase broadband internet subscriptions.

This paper investigates the (quasi-)periodicity of a string when the string is edited. A string C is called a cover (as known as a quasi-period) of a string T if each character of T lies within some occurrence of C. By definition, a cover of T must be a border of T;that is, it occurs both as a prefix and as a suffix of T. In this paper, we focus on the changes in the longest border and the shortest cover of a string when the string is edited only once. We propose a data structure of size O(n) that computes the longest border and the shortest cover of the string in O(log n) time after an edit operation (either insertion, deletion, or substitution of some string) is applied to the input string T of length n, where is the length of the string being inserted or substituted. This study proposes a tactile diagram pattern for visually impaired people to recognize color information. The pattern uses the principle of three primary colors, with different patterns representing red, blue, and yellow. The size of tactile elements on these patterns indicates the proportion of the color mixing. A preliminary experiment showed that even a sighted participant could understand and reconstruct the tactile diagram. Future experiments will target visually impaired people to confirm the effectiveness of this method. © 2024, CC BY.

Depression, a multifaceted mental health disorder, is characterized by persistent feelings of sorrow, hopelessness, and a pervasive loss of interest or pleasure in once-enjoyed activities. It often manifests with physical and cognitive symptoms, including alterations in appetite and sleep patterns, overwhelming fatigue, difficulty in maintaining focus, and recurrent contemplations of death or suicide. Psychological research has unveiled a profound connection between depressive emotions, the expression of those emotions, and their perception. This intricate relationship underscores the paramount importance of comprehending how individuals with depression both undergo and convey their emotional experiences. This study enhances the precision of depression detection through a multimodal, multi-task learning approach. It combines the depression detection dataset(the AVEC 2019 Detecting Depression with AI Sub-challenge_with the sentiment analysis dataset, CMU-MOSEI. By harnessing emotional data, this method significantly augments the accuracy of depression detection. The efficacy of this proposed approach is validated using a publicly available dataset, AVEC 2019. It surpasses existing state-of-the-art methods, achieving a Concordance Correlation Coefficient (CCC) of 0.466 and a Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of 5.21 on the AVEC 2019 DDS test set. This represents a notable 5.4% improvement over the accuracy achieved by the current state-of-the-art method, which had a CCC of 0.442.

Air pollution is a pressing issue in cities, and managing air quality poses a challenge for urban designers and decision-makers. This study proposes a Digital Twin (DT) Smart City integrated with Mixed Reality technology to enhance visualization and collaboration for addressing urban air pollution. The research adopts an applied research approach, with a focus on developing a DT framework. A use case of DT development for Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, is presented. By integrating air quality data, meteorological information, traffic patterns, and urban infrastructure data, the DT provides a comprehensive understanding of air pollution dynamics. The visualization capabilities of the DT, utilizing Mixed Reality technology, facilitate effective decision-making and the identification of strategies for managing air quality. However, further research is needed to address data management challenges to build a DT for Smart City at scale.

Tourism continues to be developed, as one of important sectors to support foreign exchange revenue and also support the economic sectors. The Methodology of this research used literature approach from previous research of digital economy characteristics factors and digital tourism. The infection of Plasmodium vivax is relatively less virulent than the deathliest Plasmodium falciparum. However, it still can lead to a fatal case and often induces recurring malaria due to dormant parasites in the liver. Thus, the research to study the drug to treat Plasmodium vivax is essential, where the enzyme dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) has recently become a new drug target. However, the drug-enzyme interaction study has only recently been conducted in Plasmodium falciparum (pfDHODH) due to the lack of the 3D structure of enzyme DHODH from Plasmodium vivax that is crucial for the study. Therefore, this study aimed to perform the modelling study of Plasmodium vivax DHODH (PvDHODH) to create a 3D structure as a basis for drug-protein interaction study in upcoming studies. Sequence pvDHODH (Accession: SCO68359.1) was used in homology modelling using Modeller 10.2 with the crystal structure of DHODH from DHODH (Accession: 7KZY) as a template. Overall, the model generated from the homology modelling was considered a good model, and the 3D structure was close to the native state according to several parameters, including DOPE score, GA341 score, QMEAN4 value, 3D-1D score, ERRAT2 score, and ProSA score. Ramachandran plot also revealed that almost all amino acids were distributed in the desirable and allowed area (99.1%), and only 0.9% were in generously allowed regions. Superimposition of the model with the template also indicated that the model has an almost similar structure and amino acids positioning, including in the binding pocket and active site. Therefore, the model can be used for downstream analysis in drug-protein interaction studies. Nevertheless, some improvements can still be performed to upgrade the quality of the model by deleting unaligned residues on the C-terminal and realigning the residues at the doubting site. © 2023 IEEE.
