This article proposes an intelligent platform for monitoring students' steps on their way to school until they leave the school to their homes. This platform can identify students and notify those responsible and competent authorities in various situations of school life, such as: entering and leaving the school bus, entering and leaving school, entering the school cafeteria, etc. The first application aims to control access to the school bus through facial recognition. In the tests carried out, the recognition system achieved excellent results in all metrics. © 2023 IEEE.

The objective of this paper is to identify the stresses placed on the musculoskeletal system when small dogs walk on floors with low friction coefficients. In many households, and small dogs in particular are often kept indoors. According to veterinary experience, it is known that small dogs kept indoors that walk with their lower limbs slipping cause a great deal of stress on the musculoskeletal system, and that the incidence of joint disease in the lower limbs of such small dogs is high. In this study, we measured the body movements of small dogs walking on slippery floors using a three-dimensional motion capture system and force plate system. Furthermore, by inputting these measurements into the musculoskeletal simulation model we have developed to simulate the musculoskeletal system of dogs, we derived the load on the musculoskeletal system of small dogs on slippery and non-slippery floors. As a result, it was identified that walking on a slippery floor causes a strong load on the lower limb muscles of small dogs. © 2025 IEEE.

MSSTNET: A MULTI-SCALE SPATIO-TEMPORAL CNN-TRANSFORMER NETWORK FOR DYNAMIC FACIAL EXPRESSION RECOGNITION

Unlike typical video action recognition, Dynamic Facial Expression Recognition (DFER) does not involve distinct moving targets but relies on localized changes in facial muscles. Addressing this distinctive attribute, we propose a Multi-Scale Spatio-temporal CNN-Transformer network (MSSTNet). Our approach takes spatial features of different scales extracted by CNN and feeds them into a Multi-scale Embedding Layer (MELayer). The MELayer extracts multi-scale spatial information and encodes these features before sending them into a Temporal Transformer (T-Former). The T-Former simultaneously extracts temporal information while continually integrating multi-scale spatial information. This process culminates in the generation of multi-scale spatio-temporal features that are utilized for the final classification. Our method achieves state-of-the-art results on two in-the-wild datasets. Furthermore, a series of ablation experiments and visualizations provide further validation of our approach’s proficiency in leveraging spatio-temporal information within DFER. Camera and LiDAR sensors play a crucial role in vehicle perception systems, enabling accurate detection of obstacles and other vehicles in autonomous driving technologies. Despite their complementary advantages, ensuring the reliability of camera data under varying environmental conditions poses a significant challenge. This paper introduces a novel system for camera data consistency checking through two methods: (1) a camera-only consistency checking mechanism utilizing an effective point-to-point feature extraction neural network inspired by the D2-Net method, and (2) a camera-LiDAR fusion data consistency checking approach employing advanced sensor fusion techniques. By integrating a critical reliability check for camera data and fusing it with LiDAR information, our system leverages the strengths of both sensor types to enhance the robustness and efficiency of autonomous vehicle navigation. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed methods significantly improve the safety and performance of autonomous driving by ensuring reliable sensor data fusion, enabling safe navigation even in challenging environments. © 2025 IEEE.

The study explores various scenarios for providing shorelining information via spatial-audio auditory sensory augmentation with a view to assisting people who are blind or have low-vision. Shorelining is a strategy often associated with the use of the "white cane"and generally refers to path-following approaches that rely on contours of structures within a built environment. The aim is to support clear, logical paths of travel. In one approach, auditory shorelining cues are provided via a sequence of two auditory earcons rendered spatially along the shoreline and at the participant's left or right side. In another approach, the auditory cues are rendered spatially as "gate posts"in between which the participant should walk. The rendering of the auditory earcons follows the participant's path of travel so that at any given time, there is only ever a sequence of two auditory earcons that provides local shorelining information. The auditory earcons are rendered via two methods: (i) using loudspeakers appropriately placed along the path of travel and (ii) using binaural rendering of virtual speakers via smart glasses. We compared the performance of spatial-audio sensory augmentation with non-spatialized spoken language instruction. Participants' performance was measured in terms of task accuracy, time, and walking behavior. The cognitive workload was measured using a self-reporting questionnaire. Results indicate that sensory augmentation provided via spatial-audio earcons can provide faster and smoother navigational assistance and guidance compared with spoken verbal instructions. The results also suggest that current binaural rendering using simple augmented-reality tool sets is not as robust as real sound in providing navigational guidance. Lastly, the "gate post"shorelining approach seems more effective than the left and right shorelining technique. © 2023 IEEE.

Every patient has health record, it was written as statement of patient's conditions, treatments, and medications, and nowadays it is become digitalized, it can be copied and shared easily, but the nature of EHR is private, not for public, private between patients and healthcare provider. Privacy preserving can be done by implementing Blockchain network for storing EHR, only authorized users or nodes can access and write data to the network. New block in blockchain created as per consensus among nodes, every node can join a blockchain network if it is public, to meet a consensus required resources intensive cryptographic challenge, in private blockchain, only selected can join and involved in the network or specific transaction. In healthcare, data privacy is the main concerned, need a secure, scalable, and efficient blockchain hence implementing consortium blockchain is perfect match for EHR where multiple healthcare provider can operate in a single platform to conduct transaction or sharing EHR among members. This study analyzes 15 articles derived from IEEE Explore, science Direct and Scopus by implementing screening with keyword Consortium Blockchain and EHR and proposing new blockchain model accommodating solution for challenges on access, storage, sharing, privacy, and performance. © 2022 IEEE.

Probabilistic Error Cancellation (PEC) aims to improve the accuracy of expectation values for observables. This is accomplished using the probabilistic insertion of recovery gates, which correspond to the inverse of errors. However, the inserted recovery gates also induce errors. Thus, it is difficult to obtain accurate expectation values with PEC since the estimator of PEC has a bias due to noise induced by recovery gates. To address this challenge, we propose an improved version of PEC that considers the noise resulting from gate insertion, called Feed-Forward PEC (FFPEC). FFPEC provides an unbiased estimator of expectation values by cancelling out the noise induced by recovery gates. We demonstrate that FFPEC yields more accurate expectation values compared to the conventional PEC method through analytical evaluations. Electromagnetic nondestructive inspection for high-speed moving ferromagnetic materials is necessary for manufacturing efficiency. In this paper, we present a novel leakage magnetic flux (LMF) method to estimate the crack position in a moving cylindrical ferromagnetic rod. The method directly measures the first-order Fourier coefficients of the LMF moving with the crack by using only two coils with DC excitation. The location of a crack is estimated by the proposed method, as demonstrated for an S45C cylindrical rod.

Photometric stereo faces challenges from non-Lambertian reflectance in real-world scenarios. Systematically measuring the reliability of photometric stereo methods in handling such complex reflectance necessitates a real-world dataset with quantitatively controlled reflectances. This paper introduces DiLiGenRT, the first real-world dataset for evaluating photometric stereo methods under quantified reflectances by manufacturing 54 hemispheres with varying degrees of two reflectance properties: Roughness and Transluency, Unlike qualitative and semantic labels, such as “diffuse” and “specular,” that have been used in previous datasets, our quantified dataset allows comprehensive and systematic benchmark evaluations. In addition, it facilitates selecting best-fit photometric stereo methods based on the quantitative reflectance properties. Our dataset and benchmark results are available at https://***/***.
