The effects of changing learning rates, data augmentation percentage and numbers of epochs on the performance of Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Networks with Gradient Penalties (WGAN-GP) are evaluated in this study. The purpose of this research is to find out how they affect the data augmentation to enhance stability during training. In this research, the degree of system performance is measured using the Classification Model Utility approach. For this reason, this study aims to determine the interaction between learning rate, augmentation percentage and epoch value when using WGAN-GP to generate synthetic data for the recognition of the system performance. The results will provide the indications on how some of the hyper parameters can be adjusted up or down for having positive or negative consequences on the generation process for further research and use of WGAN-GP. It also provides insights into how the generative model is trained, and how that affects stability and quality of the result in various settings such as image synthesis or other generative tasks. © (2025), (Science and information Organization). A hybrid deep learning framework for solar irradiation prediction based on regional satellite images and data

Accurate prediction of solar irradiation, particularly Diffuse Horizontal Irradiance (DHI), is essential for optimizing solar energy systems. This paper presents a hybrid framework that integrates satellite imagery and satellite-derived data to improve the precision of DHI forecasts. Two key datasets were employed: ground-based Solar Irradiation Measurement (SRM) and satellite-based Solar Irradiation (SSR). The proposed methodology utilizes machine learning models along two paths. The first path processes satellite imagery using advanced techniques, including pixel imputation with a modified Random Forest (RF) and Generative Adversarial Network (GAN), noisy region detection with Self-Organizing Maps (SOM), and noise removal through a Latent Diffusion Model (LDM). The second path handles tabular data through a diffusion probabilistic model designed for missing data imputation. These features are then merged and fed into a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network, enhanced to capture seasonality and trends for accurate DHI predictions. The paper makes significant contributions by introducing a robust hybrid framework that leverages both satellite imagery and tabular data, incorporating novel preprocessing methods such as GAN-based pixel imputation and diffusion-based noise removal. The LSTM model is further adapted to handle seasonal and trend components, resulting in enhanced DHI forecasting accuracy. The proposed model demonstrates superior performance, achieving a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 8.170 W/m2, Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) of 1.749 W/m2, Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of 0.693 W/m2, and an R-squared value of 2.574, significantly outperforming conventional methods such as Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), Support Vector Regression (SVR), and traditional LSTM models. Additionally, the model records a low Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) of 0.8183% and a computation time of 35.4 s, highlighting its efficiency. The development of digital payment technology, such as Gopay, has provided convenience for the Indonesian public. To understand user satisfaction and identify key issues, this study analyzes Gopay user reviews using a hybrid approach. The main issues addressed are the imbalance in review data and the lack of studies integrating Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models for topic analysis. This research encompasses three main stages: topic identification using LDA, data balancing with Random Over Sampling and Neighborhood Cleaning Rule (ROS-NCL), and topic classification using CNN. The model is designed to accurately identify and classify key topics. Furthermore, this method is compared with other approaches to assess its advantages. The research findings show that this hybrid approach is effective in addressing data imbalance, achieving a topic classification accuracy of 96%. These findings provide valuable insights for service providers to improve the quality of Gopay services based on topic analysis derived from user feedback. © 2025 IEEE.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) are developing so fast that they can bring revolutionary changes in ecological sustainability, public health, and community welfare. In contrast, the present waste management system has a set of inefficiencies due to some challenges, such as poor waste stream segregation, limited real-time data analysis, and negligible integration of recent technology. These challenges lead to environmental degradation, public health hazards, and inefficient usage of resources. This research targets these challenges by designing an IWM framework like AI-IoT for smart waste management. The system employs AI models powered by IoT sensors for efficient waste collection, classification, and optimization of recycling schedules. CNN (convolutional neural networks) with transfer learning enabled by Res-Net provides high-accuracy image recognition, which can be used for waste classification. Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) allow multilingual users to interact and communicate properly in any linguistic environment. Data collected from IoT-enabled smart bins is transmitted in real-time to a central control system for dynamic decision-making and follow-up analysis. A pilot exercise to verify the system's effectiveness was implemented in metropolitan settings to show the transformation: landfill dependency was decreased by 30 %, recycling efficiency was greatly increased to 90 %, and thus the cost of waste management was optimized. At the same time, environmental health inequity, causing pathogen-related threats, was reduced by 35 %. The model has an accuracy of 96.8 %. The features of the proposed framework not only provide solutions to the existing inefficiencies but also enhance scalability, cost-effectiveness, and global environmental standardization. This paper provides a thorough review of recommendation methods from academic literature, offering a taxonomy that classifies recommender systems (RSs) into categories like collaborative filtering, content-based systems, and hybrid systems. It examines the effectiveness and challenges of these systems, such as filter bubbles, the "cold start" issue, and the reliance on collaborative filtering and content-based approaches. We trace the development of RSs, emphasizing the role of machine learning and deep learning models in overcoming these challenges and delivering more accurate, personalized, and context-aware recommendations. We also highlight the increasing significance of ethical considerations, including fairness, transparency, and trust, in the design of RSs. The paper presents a structured literature review, discussing various aspects of RSs, such as collaborative filtering, personalized recommender systems, and strategies to improve system robustness. It also points out the limitations of the existing approaches and suggests promising research directions for the future. In summary, this paper offers a comprehensive analysis of RSs, focusing on their evolution, challenges, and potential future improvements, particularly in enhancing accuracy, diversity, and ethical practices in recommendations. © The Author(s) 2025.

Unsupervised Meteorological Downscaling Based on Dual Learning and Subgrid-scale Auxiliary information

Predictive Analytics in Mobile Education: Evaluating Logistic Regression, Random Forest, and Gradient Boosting for Course Completion Forecasting

This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of three predictive algorithms—logistic regression, random forest, and GBM—in predicting course completion using user engagement data from online learning platforms. By analyzing engagement metrics such as session duration, session frequency, and quiz scores, the study sought to identify the most effective model for forecasting course completion, providing insights into which aspects of student behavior were most predictive of success. Logistic regression emerged as the best overall performer, achieving the highest accuracy (52.13%) and F1-Score (56.17%), indicating its balanced approach to predicting course completion and non-completion. Random forest and gradient boosting machines (GBM) showed strengths in specific areas;random forest maintained a good balance between precision and recall, while GBM excelled in recall, identifying students likely to complete courses but with lower precision, leading to more false positives. The findings have practical implications for educational technology, particularly in designing personalized learning paths and targeted interventions to support at-risk students. The study also acknowledged limitations, including the dataset’s focus on engagement metrics without demographic context and the potential for model-specific biases. Future research should explore additional predictive features, larger datasets, and more advanced algorithms to enhance the robustness and applicability of predictive models in real-time educational settings. © 2025 by the authors of this article.

UDI-3DVT: A Novel Network for 3-D Reconstruction via Uncertainty-Driven Sampling and Incremental Visual-Tactile Fusion

The fusion of visual and tactile senses allows robots to reconstruct and understand objects, aiding in downstream tasks such as object recognition and object grasping. However, most existing visual-tactile reconstruction methods typically overlook the role of visual point cloud processing in reconstruction, sampling points using generative-based methods rather than uncertainty-driven approaches. In addition, these methods only concatenate visual and tactile features, failing to fully leverage the complementary advantages of these two modalities, resulting in unsatisfactory reconstruction results. To address this issue, leveraging the open-source GelSight tactile sensor, this article proposes a novel method called UDI-3DVT, which reconstructs 3-D shapes by combining visual point clouds and multiple tactile images. Specifically, we explore the uncertainty of point clouds, performing additional sampling on high-uncertainty edge points, and propose an attention-based point cloud sampling method. Then, the framework leverages the efficiency of convolutional neural network (CNN) in image processing and the transformer's superiority in context modeling by using CNN for tactile features and transformer for visual features. A feature fusion module based on 1 × 1 convolution is designed to aggregate features from two branches. By gradually adding tactile features, we achieve incremental visual-tactile integration. Furthermore, since the contact-based perception of tactile sensors may cause slight deformations in objects, UDI-3DVT supports the reconstruction of both rigid and deformable objects. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our proposed framework outperforms current state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods, especially the Chamfer distance (CD) metric increased by 14.8%. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

Breast Cancer (BC) remains a significant health challenge for women and is one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide. Accurate diagnosis is critical for successful therapy and increased survival rates. Recent advances in medical imaging and computational technologies have enabled more precise methods of detecting and evaluating breast cancer. Accurate analysis and diagnosis utilizing medical imaging have developed as essential research topics, providing important help in clinical decision-making for various illnesses, including breast cancer. Machine learning (ML) can accurately predict breast cancer. But the breast cancer data has vague and uncertainty information. So, the neutrosophic sets (NSs) are used in this study to deal with uncertainty data. We convert the original dataset into neutrosophic data with three components such as truth, indeterminacy, and falsity values. Then we applied four ML models with N-data such as logistic regression, gradient boosting (GB), k-nearest neighbor (KNN), and support vector machines (SVM), to improve diagnostic accuracy. Then we compared the ML models with and without using N-data. The results show the logistic regression has higher accuracy with 98.6% with the N-data and 95.80% without N-data. Purpose: To promote the cultural communication and art appreciation of Inscriptions and calligraphy which are important cultural heritages in China, with a broad crowd base and educational appreciation value, by using digital humanities methods and technologies, the paper aims to discuss how to develop a new user-oriented knowledge base according to user needs for inscription rubbings research and appreciation. Design/methodology/approach: The paper investigates user needs and current problems on the basis of status quo and summation of extensive service experience;validates the rationality of requirements and user scenarios with user research methods including focus groups, interviews and behavior observations;then designs and develops the technical solution of data process, knowledge base construction and service platform through experimental research methods based on agile project management. Findings: The paper proposes a new reading mode for browsing and appreciation inscription rubbing works, a diverse knowledge-integrated knowledge organizational structure, a systematic user experience and service guiding framework which can be widely applicable to the development of other cultural heritage knowledge bases. Apart from that, the paper puts forward intelligent service development goals for the future. Originality/value: The paper proposes a new reading mode with the overall functions and user experience design and development for browsing and appreciation inscription rubbing works, a diverse knowledge-integrated knowledge organizational structure, a systematic user experience and service guiding framework which can be widely applicable to the development of other cultural heritage knowledge bases.
