Ionic fluidic devices are gaining interest due to their role in enabling self-powered neuromorphic computing *** this study,we present an approach that integrates an iontronic fluidic memristive(IFM)device with low input impedance and a triboelectric nanogenerator(TENG)based on ferrofluid(FF),which has high input *** incorporating contact separation electromagnetic(EMG)signals with low input impedance into our FF TENG device,we enhance the FF TENG’s performance by increasing energy harvesting,thereby enabling the autonomous powering of IFM devices for self-powered ***,replicating neuronal activities using artificial iontronic fluidic systems is key to advancing neuromorphic *** fluidic devices,composed of soft-matter materials,dynamically adjust their conductance by altering the solution *** developed voltage-controlled memristor and memcapacitor memory in polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)structures,utilising a fluidic interface of FF and polyacrylic acid partial sodium salt(PAA Na^(+)).The confined ion interactions in this system induce hysteresis in ion transport across various frequencies,resulting in significant ion memory *** IFM successfully replicates diverse electric pulse patterns,making it highly suitable for neuromorphic ***,our system demonstrates synapse-like learning functions,storing and retrieving short-term(STM)and long-term memory(LTM).The fluidic memristor exhibits dynamic synapse-like features,making it a promising candidate for the hardware implementation of neural *** TENG/EMG device adaptability and seamless integration with biological systems enable the development of advanced neuromorphic devices using iontronic fluidic materials,further enhanced by intricate chemical designs for self-powered electronics.

Reinforcement learning(RL) has roots in dynamic programming and it is called adaptive/approximate dynamic programming(ADP) within the control community. This paper reviews recent developments in ADP along with RL and its applications to various advanced control fields. First, the background of the development of ADP is described, emphasizing the significance of regulation and tracking control problems. Some effective offline and online algorithms for ADP/adaptive critic control are displayed, where the main results towards discrete-time systems and continuous-time systems are surveyed, ***, the research progress on adaptive critic control based on the event-triggered framework and under uncertain environment is discussed, respectively, where event-based design, robust stabilization, and game design are reviewed. Moreover, the extensions of ADP for addressing control problems under complex environment attract enormous attention. The ADP architecture is revisited under the perspective of data-driven and RL frameworks,showing how they promote ADP formulation ***, several typical control applications with respect to RL and ADP are summarized, particularly in the fields of wastewater treatment processes and power systems, followed by some general prospects for future research. Overall, the comprehensive survey on ADP and RL for advanced control applications has d emonstrated its remarkable potential within the artificial intelligence era. In addition, it also plays a vital role in promoting environmental protection and industrial intelligence.

Joint Relay and Mode Selection for Covert Communication in Wireless Relay systems

This paper investigates the joint relay and transmission mode selection for covert communication in a wireless relay system with amplify-and-forward (AF) forwarding mode, which consists of one source, multiple AF relays, one destination, one friendly jammer and one warden, and each relay can switch between the half-duplex (HD) and full-duplex (FD) transmission modes. We first explore the fundamental covert performance of the system when it works in either the fixed HD or fixed FD mode. Based on this result, we then investigate the covert performance of the system with optimal (resp. random) relay selection and random (resp. optimal) mode selection, so as to reveal the achievable covert performance in the system with solely the relay selection or mode selection. Building upon above results, we further design the optimal joint relay and mode selection scheme, and develop related theoretical models for performance analysis. Finally, we provide extensive numerical results to conduct a comprehensive comparison between the relay selection and mode selection on their achievable covert performance and to illustrate the performance enhancement from adopting the joint relay and mode selection in the relay system. © 1972-2012 IEEE.

Rice serves as the cornerstone of Sri Lanka's diet, contributing 45% of total calories and 40% of protein intake, essential for food security. It's not just sustenance;the rice industry is a major force, providing employment to 1.8 million individuals, directly and indirectly, from diligent farmers to traders and retailers. This sector significantly contributes to government revenue through taxes and exports, with 10% of rice production being exported, bolstering foreign exchange earnings. Moreover, rural households rely on rice for income, uplifting living standards and fighting poverty. However, the existing methods for disease detection, rice quality prediction, and soil quality assessment are often slow and subjective. This research advocates the use of cutting-edge deep learning techniques, specifically Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), to tackle these challenges. © 2023 IEEE.

Person re-identification (ReID) is a significant issue in computer vision, aiming to match the same pedestrian across various cameras. Recent research on this issue has successfully reached a satisfactory performance level in the daytime scenario. However, the performance of ReID in low illumination scenarios suffers a dramatic degradation due to the insufficient personal information captured by visible cameras in low or no light scenarios. To address this challenge, the adoption of novel camera technologies for more effective pedestrian data is imperative. Owing to the constraints of distance and usage scenarios in deploying depth cameras, practical infrared cameras are frequently utilized, spurring research in visible infrared person re-identification (VI-ReID). Significant progress has been made in the field of VI-ReID in recent years, but only a few reviews have categorized this problem based on methodology. This article offers a novel perspective by classifying VI-ReID according to application scenarios. Following our categorization scheme, the main advancements in deep learning for VI-ReID over the past five years have been grouped into three categories as follows: retrieval of infrared images using visible images (V→IR), retrieval of visible images using infrared images (IR→V), and joint retrieval of infrared and visible images (V→IR and IR→V). Next, this survey outlines the available datasets and evaluation metrics. After that, we categorize diverse methodologies under the proposed classification and assess their performance metrics across common datasets. Advances in algorithmic studies have been made recently, especially in the area of finding the shortest path. Despite taking a greedy approach, the Dijkstra algorithm is well recognized for its efficacy and has established itself as the industry standard for identifying the shortest path in a graph. Conversely, scientists have embraced the Ant-Colony Optimization (ACO) approach, which draws inspiration from the behavior of ants. This study examines the two methods and determines if, given equivalent resources, ACO can generate Dijkstra-like recommendations. Research data is subjected to both algorithms, and the outcomes are presented visually. In data measurement, Dijkstra is processed first to determine the best path, and then the ACO method is applied to produce findings that are similar to Dijkstra. Memory consumption, computation time, initial memory allocation, and final memory allocation are evaluation parameters. ACO is more efficient than Dijkstra in terms of execution time and number of pathways traversed, according to the study's repeated evaluation methodology. This iterative assessment procedure is carried out to address the possibility of single measurements resulting from the JavaScript Garbage Collector. The study's findings imply that a larger memory may be necessary for ACO to deliver the desired outcomes. These results could also be impacted by each algorithm's distinct qualities. © 2023 IEEE.

In recent years, graph data has become increasingly prevalent in the actual world and can be utilized to represent the intricate link between each entity. To solve the problem of graph classification in graph neural networks, the effect of verification on the classification accuracy of various models based on modified activation functions is proposed using the IMDB-BINARY and PROTEINS datasets as the experimental dataset with graph convolutional network, graph sampling network, and other models to conduct experiments;keeping the dataset unchanged, the classification accuracy of each model was determined and compared by modifying the activation function of the model and the relevant parameters. Following testing, the activation function has a significant impact on the categorization of graph data in the graph classification problem. The ReLU function is the most applicable in the classification of the selected models in this study, and the graph convolution model is the optimal model for addressing such challenges. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Fine classification of rice paddy using multitemporal compact polarimetric SAR C band data based on machine learning methods

Rice is an important food crop for human *** distinguishing different varieties and sowing methods of rice on a large scale can provide more accurate information for rice growth monitoring,yield estimation,and phenological monitoring,which has significance for the development of modern *** polarimetric(CP)synthetic aperture radar(SAR)provides multichannel information and shows great potential for rice monitoring and ***,the use of machine learning methods to build classification models is a controversial *** this paper,the advantages of CP SAR data,the powerful learning ability of machine learning,and the important factors of the rice growth cycle were taken into account to achieve high-precision and fine classification of rice ***,CP SAR data were simulated by using the seven temporal RADARSAT-2 C-band data ***,20-two CP SAR parameters were extracted from each of the seven temporal CP SAR data *** addition,we fully considered the change degree of CP SAR parameters on a time scale(ΔCP_(DoY)).Six machine learning methods were employed to carry out the fine classification of rice *** results show that the classification methods of machine learning based on multitemporal CP SAR data can obtain better results in the fine classification of rice paddies by considering the parameters ofΔCP_(DoY).The overall accuracy is greater than 95.05%,and the Kappa coefficient is greater than *** them,the random forest(RF)and support vector machine(SVM)achieve the best results,with an overall accuracy reaching 97.32%and 97.37%,respectively,and Kappa coefficient values reaching 0.965 and 0.966,*** the two types of rice paddies,the average accuracy of the transplant hybrid(T-H)rice paddy is greater than 90.64%,and the highest accuracy is 95.95%.The average accuracy of direct-sown japonica(D-J)rice paddy is greater than 92.57%,and the highest accuracy is 96.13%.

This study describes a broad endeavor to use cutting-edge technologies to empower deaf primary school students in Sri Lanka. Three key elements make up the study: a sound recognition and classification system, an Android software for translating gestures in Sinhala Sign Language (SSL), and a mobile app for emotion recognition and text-tospeech in Sinhala. By promptly alerting caregivers to potential dangers, the sound recognition technology secures the security of deaf children at home, providing an invaluable layer of security. The Android software bridges the communication gap and improves family interactions by translating SSL gestures captured by the device's camera into textual representations. This promotes successful communication between deaf children and their parents. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) are used in the mobile application to detect and understand emotions based on facial expressions. This enables non-verbal youngsters to communicate successfully through Sinhala textto-speech output with adaptive tone modulation. This research aims to build a caring and inclusive atmosphere, enabling increased independence and enhanced communication skills in deaf children by combining these advances. The suggested solutions could significantly improve the lives of deaf kids, providing them with opportunities for better learning, social interaction, and emotional health. © 2023 IEEE.
