With the continuous expansion of the data center, its energy consumption is also increasing. Aiming at the problem that the high redundancy of modern data center network causes low energy-consumption utilization, this paper proposes an energy-saving traffic scheduling algorithm (IMV-MLF) based on improved multi-layer-virtual-topology combined with maximum link-utilization path priority, which realizes more fine-grained control of each layer of virtual topology in data center network. Firstly, the relevant shap-ing linear programming mathematical model is established according to the optimization goal of energy conservation, which can minimize the energy consumption of the whole network as far as possible under the premise of meeting all network-flow requirements;Then, according to the optimization goal, the existing SDN based energy saving multi-layer-virtual-topology (EMV-SDN) method is improved. Whether the network devices in other layers are enabled is determined by the overall traffic level rather than the traffic level of a single link. On the basis of the opened level, the newly arrived network flows are preferentially allocated to the path with the highest link utilization, and overload link set is introduced, we can effectively use the available link routes with sufficient residual bandwidth to reduce congestion when the topology changes by marking the links whose link utilization reaches the critical value, and further count and close the links and switches which no network flows pass through. The experimental results show that the performance of IMV-MLF algorithm is better than multi-layer virtual topology energy saving (EMV-SDN) algorithm and the equivalent multipath (ECMP) algorithm in saving network energy. This result is helpful to provide another new idea for energy conservation of data center. © 2023, Journal of Network Intelligence.

Advancing Bankruptcy Forecasting With Hybrid Machine Learning Techniques: Insights From an Unbalanced Polish Dataset

The challenge of bankruptcy prediction, critical for averting financial sector losses, is amplified by the prevalence of imbalanced datasets, which often skew prediction models. Addressing this, our study introduces the innovative hybrid model XGBoost+ANN, designed to leverage the strengths of both ensemble learning and artificial neural networks. This model integrates a comprehensive set of features with parameters optimized through genetic algorithms, eschewing traditional feature selection approaches. Our research focuses on an unbalanced dataset of Polish companies and reveals that the XGBoost+ANN model, in particular, exhibits outstanding performance. Optimized using genetic algorithms and without feature selection, this model achieved the highest AUC (0.958), sensitivity (0.752), and accuracy (0.983) scores, surpassing other models in our study. This remarkable outperformance, along with the robust results, marks a substantial advancement in the field of bankruptcy prediction. It underscores the efficacy of our approach in addressing the persistent challenge of data imbalance, offering a more reliable and accurate solution for financial risk assessment. © 2013 IEEE.

A systematic Literature Review on the Security Attacks and Countermeasures Used in Graphical Passwords

This systematic literature review delves into the dynamic realm of graphical passwords, focusing on the myriad security attacks they face and the diverse countermeasures devised to mitigate these threats. The core objective of this paper is to identify existing security threats to graphical password schemes and the corresponding countermeasures developed to mitigate these attacks. The study process begins by identifying the usable databases and search engines to identify all the relevant resources. The inclusion and exclusion criteria were carefully selected to prioritize the study, focusing mostly on attacks and countermeasures related to graphical password schemes between 2009 and 2023. After thorough identification and selection progress, 59 studies met all the criteria. Among these studies, 47 mentioned shoulder surfing as a threat to graphical password schemes, while 20 discussed brute force attacks. Additionally, there were 21 papers on dictionary attacks, 13 on smudge attacks, spyware attacks, and social engineering, and 19 that discussed guessing attacks as threats to graphical password schemes. Furthermore, the papers identified several other attacks, including frequency of occurrence analysis attacks, video recording, eavesdropping, computer vision, sonar, and image gallery attacks, with the corresponding numbers of papers being 9, 17, 5, 2, 2, and 1, respectively. The results also highlight the countermeasures proposed in the study papers to mitigate the aforementioned attacks. Among the various countermeasures identified, most revolve around randomization, obfuscation, and password space complexity as the most commonly used techniques for enhancing the security of graphical password schemes. © 2013 IEEE.

This paper proposes an optimal solution for monitoring water quality in Sri Lanka, where reservoirs are essential for daily life and agriculture, especially in rural areas. Despite its importance, 3.6 million communities are affected by severe water quality problems, contributing to a high incidence of chronic kidney diseases. While water purification plants are the only solution, high salinity and hardness often make these sources unsuitable. Many rural reservoirs remain unpurified but could potentially provide safe water if properly monitored and maintained. Yet water sources are frequently contaminated by chemical waste and activities associated with agricultural business but effective solutions for continuous water quality monitoring are lacking. This study introduces an autonomous robot equipped with advanced sensors to monitor critical water quality parameters in real-time. By integrating machine learning for data analysis and prediction, Sagittarius enables continuous assessment of reservoir water quality, providing timely insights for public health protection. Field tests demonstrate a prediction accuracy exceeding 98.5%, supporting proactive water management and monitoring. This system has shown potential to aid in early detection of contamination, informing authorities promptly for preventive actions, and enabling sustainable water usage. This solution can significantly contribute to public health protection and informed water resource management decisions. © 2024 IEEE.

Modeling the Percentage of NEET in Indonesia with Spatial Cauchy Regression through the Bayesian Analysis Approach

Indonesia has entered a period of demographic bonus. Human resources must be optimized. The number of children who do not in employment, education or training (NEET) in each province needs attention. Several factors that could contribute to the decline in the NEET percentage are literacy rates and the number of adolescents with computer skills. Increasing these two factors is believed to be able to reduce the percentage of NEET in every province in Indonesia. To find out the relationship between these two factors and how much influence they have on the percentage of NEET, this research is modeled by Cauchy regression and includes spatial effects. The results of the analysis show that the best model is when the spatial effect is modeled by Fernandez Steel Skew Normal conditionally autoregressive (FSSN CAR). This result is seen from the smallest value of the Watanabe Akaike information Criterion (WAIC) in this model, which is 190.5. The parameter estimated shows that the higher the literacy rate and the number of adolescents with computer skills, the lower the percentage of NEET in each province in Indonesia. The results of this research can be useful for the Indonesian government to increase the number of educational facilities related to these two factors. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). The sixth-generation(6G) wireless network will support ubiquitous connectivity and diversified scenarios to satisfy the requirements of various emerging applications. Full spectrum is a key enabler for6G to achieve the ambitious goal of a Tbps-scale data rate. In this paper, we first review the scenario and potential spectrum plan for 6G and then focus on SpectrumChain, a blockchain-based dynamic spectrumsharing(DSS) framework for 6G. The unique characteristics of blockchain for DSS are presented along with key technologies. Finally, the conclusion and future development trends are discussed.
