Pervasive computing, with its focus on users, has the potential to fundamentally change the way people use computers, which challenges the traditional human-machine interaction mode and requires more natural interactive mode between human and computers. The requirement for natural speech in pervasive computing environment was discussed. And a speech interaction system was designed and implemented to meet the requirement of human-machine interaction for an intelligent office system in pervasive computing environment, and a practical solution was given. By this solution, transmit and convert of speech between the server and the embedded handheld device were fulfilled. Speech middleware of the system can provide friendly human-machine interface for the intelligent office system, and the key method for speech synthesis in different operating systems was provided and implemented in the system

The paper incorporates fuzzy logic methodologies into multisensor-multitarget system under the framework of random set theory, and presents the logical unified description of the unambiguous information (data) and a type of the uncertain information (ambiguous evidence) so as to construct qualitative measurement models for data and ambiguous evidence fusion. The procedure is as follows: firstly, strong random set and week random set are defined, based on which, the unified description of data and ambiguous evidence is introduced; secondly, according to characters of ambiguous evidences, two Bayesian-Markov nonlinear measurement models for the data and ambiguous evidence fusion are presented; thirdly using "the models-based signature-matching scheme", the operation of the statistics of ambiguous evidence defined as random sets can be simplified to that of the membership functions of relative point state variables

We have developed scanning laser range sensor called "SOKUIKI" sensor which is ultra-small scanning laser range sensor adopted for various types of mobile robots as we have already published. As a sensor for environment recognition, we thought the sensor must have not only outputting distance data but also another helpful function for mobile robots. So it was considered that what kind of advanced functions should be provided to SOKUIKI sensor. As a result two most important purposes were acquired. 1. Variation on its distance data and method to get the data. 2. The function for prevention of optical interference between sensors. These rolls were installed to the sensor, and confirmed their effect. For one-qubit pure quantum states, it is already proved that the Voronoi diagrams with respect to two distances - Euclidean distance and the quantum divergence - coincide. This fact is a support for a known method to calculate the Holevo capacity. To consider an applicability of this method to quantum states of a higher level system, it is essential to check if the coincidence of the Voronoi diagrams also occurs. In this paper, we show a negative result for that expectation. In other words, we mathematically prove that those diagrams no longer coincide in a higher dimension. That indicates that the method used in one-qubit case to calculate the Holevo capacity might not be effective in a higher dimension.

The cloud microphysical properties retrieved from MODIS sub-sampling radiance dataset (MOD02SSH) over the extended GAME region are shown in this paper. The spatial distributions and temporal variations of the cloud optical thickness (τc) and effective particle radius (re), are important observation targets to understand the role of clouds in the radiation budget estimations, especially in the cloud-aerosol interaction studies, because they will have information of cloud growth process. Thus, the wide-area and relatively high-temporal observations of the cloud properties are necessary. The most passed researches that retrieved near-global distributions of the cloud properties, used the reduced data volume satellite radiance subset, such as the globally map-projected radiances dataset at the discretized degrees in latitude and longitude (e.g. 0.5 degrees) or narrow-swath (around nadir) radiance subset. In fact, these subsets reduced the computing time but unexpectedly reduced the observation samplings. In this study, we used MODIS 5-km subsampling radiance subsets (MOD02SSH) for the retrievals. The MOD02SSH conserves scene texture with moderately reduced data volume of 1/25 from original MODIS scene, so that they will be suitable for the more precise estimations of τc and re over synoptic to global scale. We retrieved τc and re from one-month MOD02SSH over the extended GAME region (60E-180E longitude and 20S to 60N latitude) in July 2004. In the obtained τc versus re scatter plots, we found interesting features that will be explained as the cloud properties under the pristine and polluted environments in the region. The non-hydrostatic spectral microphysics cloud model simulates these phenomena well. In the presentation, we will discuss about the MODIS radiance dataset for the cloud analysis, retrieval algorithm, then show the typical and interesting features appeared in observed τc-re scatter plots over the extended GAME regions.

In this paper, we propose a bidirectional buffer repeater insertion to reduce the RLC tree delay in multi-source multi-sink systems which involve four significant factors in our works. First, inductance effect is taken into account due to the reason that chip sizes with the exponential reduction and high work frequency. Second, bidirectional buffer repeater could improve interconnect delay more than unidirectional buffer insertion. Third, the location of insertion buffer is also considered in our work. Fourth, more than one buffer could be inserted in critical path while buffers have already existed. Finally, we develop a graphical user interface for designers to estimate the delay with bidirectional buffer repeater insertion target multi-source multi-sink systems. Experiment results shown that the reduced delay rate is 50.73% and 64.47% in 0.18 and 0.35 micron fabrication process, respectively
