Nonparametric Statistical Feature Scaling Based Quadratic Regressive Convolution Deep Neural Network for Software Fault Prediction

The development of defect prediction plays a significant role in improving software quality. Such predictions are used to identify defective modules before the testing and to minimize the time and cost. The software with defects negatively impacts operational costs and finally affects customer satisfaction. Numerous approaches exist to predict software defects. However, the timely and accurate software bugs are the major challenging issues. To improve the timely and accurate software defect prediction, a novel technique called Nonparametric Statistical feature scaled QuAdratic regressive convolution Deep nEural Network (SQADEN) is introduced. The proposed SQADEN technique mainly includes two major processes namely metric or feature selection and classification. First, the SQADEN uses the nonparametric statistical Torgerson–Gower scaling technique for identifying the relevant software metrics by measuring the similarity using the dice coefficient. The feature selection process is used to minimize the time complexity of software fault prediction. With the selected metrics, software fault perdition with the help of the Quadratic Censored regressive convolution deep neural network-based classification. The deep learning classifier analyzes the training and testing samples using the contingency correlation coefficient. The softstep activation function is used to provide the final fault prediction results. To minimize the error, the Nelder–Mead method is applied to solve non-linear least-squares problems. Finally, accurate classification results with a minimum error are obtained at the output layer. Experimental evaluation is carried out with different quantitative metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, F-measure, and time complexity. Prognostic Survival Analysis for AD Diagnosis and Progression Using MRI Data: An AI-Based Approach

Alzheimer’s Disease is a progressive neuro-degenerative disorder and a leading cause of dementia, marked by cognitive decline, memory loss, and behavioral changes. Despite advancements in medical imaging and Artificial Intelligence (AI), early detection and accurate prognostic modeling remain challenging, particularly in distinguishing overlapping disease stages. This study proposes a novel AI framework combining EfficientNetB0, a state-of-the-art deep learning model, with dual attention mechanisms for robust feature extraction and survival analysis using the Alzheimer’s MRI dataset hosted on the Kaggle platform. The model was trained and evaluated on a balanced dataset of 6,400 MRI images, classified into 4 AD stages: Non-Demented (NoD), very Mild-Demented (vMiD), Mild-Demented (MiD), and Moderate-Demented (MoD). The pre-processing steps, including resizing, normalization, and data augmentation, ensured robustness and generalizability. The framework achieved classification accuracies of 99. 93% (training), 93. 60% (validation) and 93. 59% (testing), with a perfect Concordance Index of 1.0 for survival predictions, demonstrating its ability to accurately rank survival times. By integrating survival analysis with deep learning, the framework addresses limitations in previous work, such as reliance on linear assumptions and limited classification capabilities, and provides actionable insights for clinical workflows, supporting personalized treatment and early intervention strategies. Future work will focus on integrating longitudinal data, exploring time-dependent co-variates, and enhancing explainability to promote adoption in diverse clinical settings. This approach represents a significant advancement in AI-driven diagnosis and progression modeling of AD, with the potential to transform patient care and outcomes. © 2013 IEEE.

A hybrid machine learning approach for enhanced anomaly detection in drinking water quality

Machine learning has become important for anomaly detection in water quality prediction. Data anomalies are often caused by the difficulties of analysing large amounts of data, both technical and human, but approaches have been inadequate when water contamination increases. The paper reports an anomaly detection technique based on an autoencoder and an extreme learning machine (AEELM). This approach uses an autoencoder for feature selection and an ELM algorithm for classification purposes. It is estimated using the Cauvery River dataset. The autoencoder-based ELM techniques outperformed other models with 83% accuracy, 77% precision, 83% recall, and 83% F1-level characteristic performance indicators. These results demonstrate its great effectiveness. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Domain generalization with semi-supervised learning for people-centric activity recognition

People-centric activity recognition is one of the most critical technologies in a wide range of real-world applications,including intelligent transportation systems, healthcare services, and brain-computer interfaces. Large-scale data collection and annotation make the application of machine learning algorithms prohibitively expensive when adapting to new tasks. One way of circumventing this limitation is to train the model in a semi-supervised learning manner that utilizes a percentage of unlabeled data to reduce the labeling burden in prediction tasks. Despite their appeal, these models often assume that labeled and unlabeled data come from similar distributions, which leads to the domain shift problem caused by the presence of distribution gaps. To address these limitations, we propose herein a novel method for people-centric activity recognition,called domain generalization with semi-supervised learning(DGSSL), that effectively enhances the representation learning and domain alignment capabilities of a model. We first design a new autoregressive discriminator for adversarial training between unlabeled and labeled source domains, extracting domain-specific features to reduce the distribution gaps. Second, we introduce two reconstruction tasks to capture the task-specific features to avoid losing information related to representation learning while maintaining task-specific consistency. Finally, benefiting from the collaborative optimization of these two tasks, the model can accurately predict both the domain and category labels of the source domains for the classification task. We conduct extensive experiments on three real-world sensing datasets. The experimental results show that DGSSL surpasses the three state-of-the-art methods with better performance and generalization.

Acoustic modelling using deep learning for Quran recitation assistance

Recent advancements in computer science and engineering have significantly boosted interest in and success rate of speech recognition systems. Sophisticated speech recognition systems are being developed for a variety of languages having wide-spread applications. Arabic being one of the most widely used languages in the world, augmented by religious importance, is a potential candidate in this domain, however rich vocabulary and multiple dialects open up new challenges for development of Arabic speech recognition processes. This paper focuses on development of an Arabic isolated speech recognition system for the vocabulary of Holy Quran using Mel frequency cepstral coefficients and deep neural networks. The proposed system is capable of identifying individual words from a recited verse with reasonable accuracy. It targets the 362 unique words of the first and the last 19 chapters of the Holy Quran and uses 14 hours of audio data to demonstrate the working prototype of the system. A user-friendly, web-based application has also been developed for transcription of recitations. The software is specified to make an effort in spreading the right way of recitation of the Holy Quran. The presented architecture can be extended to a complete automatic speech recognition system to help people practice recitations, mapping speech to transcription and then matching the transcribed utterance with standard templates of correct recitation to identify reciter’s short comings. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.

Classifying distinct emotions from parents of ASD child using EEG source data by combining Bernoulli–Laplace Prior and graph neural networks

Emotion recognition using biological brain signals needs to be reliable to attain effective signal processing and feature extraction techniques. The impact of emotions in interpretations, conversations, and decision-making, has made automatic emotion recognition and examination of a significant feature in the field of psychiatric disease treatment and cure. The problem arises from the limited spatial resolution of EEG recorders. Predetermined quantities of electroencephalography (EEG) channels are used by existing algorithms, which combine several methods to extract significant data. The major intention of this study was to focus on enhancing the efficiency of recognizing emotions using signals from the brain through an experimental, adaptive selective channel selection approach that recognizes that brain function shows distinctive behaviors that vary from one individual to another individual and from one state of emotions to another. We apply a Bernoulli–Laplace-based Bayesian model to map each emotion from the scalp senses to brain sources to resolve this issue of emotion mapping. The standard low-resolution electromagnetic tomography (sLORETA) technique is employed to instantiate the source signals. We employed a progressive graph convolutional neural network (PG-CNN) to identify the sources of the suggested localization model and the emotional EEG as the main graph nodes. In this study, the proposed framework uses a PG-CNN adjacency matrix to express the connectivity between the EEG source signals and the matrix. Research on an EEG dataset of parents of an ASD (autism spectrum disorder) child has been utilized to investigate the ways of parenting of the child's mother and father. We engage with identifying the personality of parental behaviors when regulating the child and supervising his or her daily activities. Cyberbullying,a critical concern for digital safety,necessitates effective linguistic analysis tools that can navigate the complexities of language use in online *** tackle this challenge,our study introduces a new approach employing Bidirectional Encoder Representations from the Transformers(BERT)base model(cased),originally pretrained in *** model is uniquely adapted to recognize the intricate nuances of Arabic online communication,a key aspect often overlooked in conventional cyberbullying detection *** model is an end-to-end solution that has been fine-tuned on a diverse dataset of Arabic social media(SM)tweets showing a notable increase in detection accuracy and sensitivity compared to existing *** results on a diverse Arabic dataset collected from the‘X platform’demonstrate a notable increase in detection accuracy and sensitivity compared to existing methods.E-BERT shows a substantial improvement in performance,evidenced by an accuracy of 98.45%,precision of 99.17%,recall of 99.10%,and an F1 score of 99.14%.The proposed E-BERT not only addresses a critical gap in cyberbullying detection in Arabic online forums but also sets a precedent for applying cross-lingual pretrained models in regional language applications,offering a scalable and effective framework for enhancing online safety across Arabic-speaking communities.

The methodologies based on neural networks are substantial to accomplish sentiment analysis in the Social Internet of Things (SIoT). With social media sentiment analysis, significant insights can produce efficient and intelligent applications. Neural networks such as recurrent neural networks (RNNs) and convolution neural networks (CNNs) have been considered widely in many text classification tasks. However, RNNs are computationally expensive and require complex training to capture contextual information and long-term dependencies. Similarly, traditional CNNs must stack multiple convolutional layers, requiring massive computations and additional parameters. To address these problems, this work initialized the novel architecture, in which contextual representations (CRs) based on the textual framework are proposed at the initial step. In CRs, state-of-the-art word representation models, such as GloVe (global vectors) and FastText (subword information), collectively produce word representations upon the input sequence using a weight mechanism. Secondly, a unique way is introduced: a three-parallel layered dilated convolutional network with global mean pooling. The experimental results show that the proposed methods when compared with baseline methods, the dilation in CNNs following CRs significantly increases the accuracy from 72.45 to 98.98% and reduces computational resources. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.
