This article reviews the way in which the spread of computing technology has impacted the search and seizure policies of relevant U.S. government agencies. Among the changes that have occurred is a total redesign by the Justice Department of its search and seizure guidelines and policies. the article discusses numerous questions that involve search and seizure procedures as they pertain to the use of computing technology.

Epidemiological surveillance of Tuberculosis (TB) requires a strong integration of different health services, programs and levels of care. The deepening and broadening of data management techniques must be constantly carried out to increase the integrality of healthcare. Otherwise, knowledge extraction and clinical and administrative decision-making processes are significantly hampered, directly affecting the management and quality of health services. Thus, this work aims to establish a computerized decision support system capable of collecting, integrating and sharing TB health data in Brazilian Unified Public Health System. Also, it will allow the monitoring of infected patients and the visualization of consolidated information of regular TB and its resistant variants for health professionals and managers. The data will be made available from heterogeneous, disconnected and unstructured sources by combining traditional web services, Semantic Web resources and security algorithms. A solid knowledge base applied to epidemiological surveillance, health information governance and clinical support will be enabled to integrate the multiple areas of TB patients care, as well as to support the creation of more accurate operational and diagnostics models.

Forged content shared widely on social media platforms is a major social problem that requires increased regulation and poses new challenges to the research community. The recent proliferation of hyper-realistic deepfake videos has drawn attention to the threat of audio and visual forgeries. Most previous work on detecting AI-generated fake videos only utilizes visual modality or audio modality. While there are some methods in the literature that exploit audio and visual modalities to detect forged videos, they have not been comprehensively evaluated on multi-modal datasets of deepfake videos involving acoustic and visual manipulations. Moreover, these existing methods are mostly based on CNN and suffer from low detection accuracy. Inspired by the recent success of Transformer in various fields, to address the challenges posed by deepfake technology, in this paper, we propose an Audio-Visual Transformer-based Ensemble Network (AVTENet) framework that considers both acoustic manipulation and visual manipulation to achieve effective video forgery detection. Specifically, the proposed model integrates several purely transformer-based variants that capture video, audio, and audio-visual salient cues to reach a consensus in prediction. For evaluation, we use the recently released benchmark multi-modal audio-video FakeAVCeleb dataset. For a detailed analysis, we evaluate AVTENet, its variants, and several existing methods on multiple test sets of the FakeAVCeleb dataset. Experimental results show that our best model outperforms all existing methods and achieves state-of-the-art performance on Testset-I and Testset-II of the FakeAVCeleb dataset. © 2023, CC BY.

This research is ongoing research into the student learning process which aims to develop artificial intelligence-based technology to calculate essay exam scores automatically, based on the textual proximity of students' answers to the answer key. This research uses an approach based on natural language processing (NLP) and text analysis. Feature extraction was carried out using the BERT model and similarity comparison using the Cosine distance method. Model evaluation was carried out using sensitivity and specificity tests. The model evaluation results show a sensitivity of 98.21%, which means this assessment model is able to detect positive cases well.

Sliding mode control (SMC) has been considered as a powerful method for disturbances rejection. On the other hand, we have presented an equivalent-input disturbance (EID) approach to reject disturbances. This paper takes a dual-stage feed drive as an example to compare these two methods. The example shows that, while the EID approach obtains almost the same disturbance rejection performance for matched disturbances as that of the SMC does, it can reject unmatched disturbances. This shows the superiority of the EID approach over SMC method.

ERP stands for enterprise resource planning. It is an information system that is all rolled into one, is very flexible and adaptable, and optimizes business operations while also centralizing all of the company's data. This study aims to empirically investigate the elements that affect users' intention and usage of enterprise resource planning (ERP). This research incorporates self-efficacy into the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2). A quantitative technique was taken, and as a result, 143 replies that might be used were effectively collected. After that, the information was put through a structural equation modelling partial least square (SEM-PLS) analysis. According to the findings of this research, self-efficacy appears to have a significant influence on all endogenous variables (EE, BI, and UB), as indicated by t-values of 3.951, 7.573, and 5.492, respectively. In addition, the analysis also indicated that PE (4.317), EE (2.397), and HM (3.084) are likewise statistically and substantively significant to BI. The result shows that the R2 for BI and UB indicate a moderate impact of 0.603 and 0.521, respectively. It is suggested that the model has valuable applications in academic and real-world contexts.

This paper studies the complex ecological dynamics of Batumi on the Black Sea coast, through adetailed analysis of environmental factors and their impact. We use Business Intelligence (BI) methods to explore the complex interactions between natural and human impacts on the local ecosystems. By using data-focused approaches, including statistical analysis and predictive modeling, we aim to distinguish patterns and trends in ecological dynamics. This study aspires to make clear the complex relationships between environmental factors such as climate change, pollution levels, habitat degradation, and biodiversity loss, and their impacts on the coastal ecosystem of Batumi. Through this study, we aim to provide valuable information on sustainable management practices and conservation measures to protect the ecological integrity of this important coastal region.

Context: Contemporary software development is typically conducted in dynamic, resource-scarce environments that are prone to the accumulation of technical debt. While this general phenomenon is acknowledged, what remains unknown is how technical debt specifically manifests in and affects software processes, and how the software development techniques employed accommodate or mitigate the presence of this debt. Objectives: We sought to draw on practitioner insights and experiences in order to classify the effects of agile method use on technical debt management, given the popularity and perceived success of agile methods. We explore the breadth of practitioners' knowledge about technical debt;how technical debt is manifested across the software process;and the perceived effects of common agile software development practices and processes on technical debt. In doing so, we address a research gap in technical debt knowledge and provide novel and actionable managerial recommendations. Method: We designed, tested and executed a multi-national survey questionnaire to address our objectives, receiving 184 responses from practitioners in Brazil, Finland, and New Zealand. Results: Our findings indicate that: 1) Practitioners are aware of technical debt, although, there was under utilization of the concept, 2) Technical debt commonly resides in legacy systems, however, concrete instances of technical debt are hard to conceptualize which makes it problematic to manage, 3) Queried agile practices and processes help to reduce technical debt;in particular, techniques that verify and maintain the structure and clarity of implemented artifacts (e.g., Coding standards and Refactoring) positively affect technical debt management. Conclusions: The fact that technical debt instances tend to have characteristics in common means that a systematic approach to its management is feasible. The main knowledge management challenges are to capture, store and reuse contextual knowledge generated during interactions that occur daily in an organization. In this paper, we propose an activity context-aware architecture to support knowledge management in working processes. The required features for this architecture are processing, reasoning and sharing contextual knowledge involving information about activities performed. We also present results from evaluation of our proposal — A-CoBrA — for a specific domain.

Agile parallel bioinformatics workflow management using Pwrake

Background: In bioinformatics projects, scientific workflow systems are widely used to manage computational procedures. Full-featured workflow systems have been proposed to fulfil the demand for workflow management. However, such systems tend to be over-weighted for actual bioinformatics practices. We realize that quick deployment of cutting-edge software implementing advanced algorithms and data formats, and continuous adaptation to changes in computational resources and the environment are often prioritized in scientific workflow management. These features have a greater affinity with the agile software development method through iterative development phases after trial and error. Here, we show the application of a scientific workflow system Pwrake to bioinformatics workflows. Pwrake is a parallel workflow extension of Ruby's standard build tool Rake, the flexibility of which has been demonstrated in the astronomy domain. Therefore, we hypothesize that Pwrake also has advantages in actual bioinformatics workflows. Findings. We implemented the Pwrake workflows to process next generation sequencing data using the Genomic Analysis Toolkit (GATK) and Dindel. GATK and Dindel workflows are typical examples of sequential and parallel workflows, respectively. We found that in practice, actual scientific workflow development iterates over two phases, the workflow definition phase and the parameter adjustment phase. We introduced separate workflow definitions to help focus on each of the two developmental phases, as well as helper methods to simplify the descriptions. This approach increased iterative development efficiency. Moreover, we implemented combined workflows to demonstrate modularity of the GATK and Dindel workflows. Conclusions: Pwrake enables agile management of scientific workflows in the bioinformatics domain.
