3D object detection is one of the fundamental perception tasks in autonomous driving. In recent years, perception in the Bird’s Eye View (BEV) has attracted tremendous attention due to its outstanding ability in preserving geometric cues. However, like other supervised learning tasks, BEV-based perception suffers from inadequate labeled training data. In this work, we propose the Vision BEV-MAE, a self-supervised learning approach for BEV perception from camera images. Specifically, we design a feature-level masking strategy to mask the mid-level representations, i.e., the encoded BEV features instead of directly masking input multi-view images, and reconstruct BEV features with a light-weight decoder. Our Vision BEV-MAE is independent of any geometric data such as point clouds, or any additional supervision, and can be easily implemented within any state-of-the-art BEV perception frameworks to improve the performance. We conduct experiments on benchmark dataset to validate our approach. © 2024 IEEE.

Despite achieving remarkable performance, Federated Learning (FL) encounters two important problems, i.e., low training efficiency and limited computational resources. In this article, we propose a new FL framework, i.e., FedDUMAP, with three original contributions, to leverage the shared insensitive data on the server in addition to the distributed data in edge devices so as to efficiently train a global model. First, we propose a simple dynamic server update algorithm, which takes advantage of the shared insensitive data on the server while dynamically adjusting the update steps on the server in order to speed up the convergence and improve the accuracy. Second, we propose an adaptive optimization method with the dynamic server update algorithm to exploit the global momentum on the server and each local device for superior accuracy. Third, we develop a layer-adaptive model pruning method to carry out specific pruning operations, which is adapted to the diverse features of each layer so as to attain an excellent tradeoff between effectiveness and efficiency. Our proposed FL model, FedDUMAP, combines the three original techniques and has a significantly better performance compared with baseline approaches in terms of efficiency (up to 16.9 times faster), accuracy (up to 20.4% higher), and computational cost (up to 62.6% smaller). © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). When making decisions, individuals often seek advice from their family, friends, and social network connections. In this way, individ-uals’ opinions are susceptible to influence from their connections’ viewpoints. For example, in elections, individuals may initially support one party, while social influence may sway their choice to another. A recent study by Stewart et al. introduced a metric, influence assortment, to quantify the phenomenon of information gerrymandering that one party can influence more voters from other parties by strategically distributing their members among the social networks. While this metric correlates strongly with voting outcomes, the finding is only suitable for two-party elections. In this paper, we define the influence assortment that incorporates the level of similarity (homophily) among neighbours in the social network and extend it to multi-party elections. We examine its ability to predict voting outcomes when all parties initially have equal votes and average degrees. Through simulations using a stochastic model of voting behaviour, we demonstrate that the correlation between the influence gap and vote difference is a strong predictor in both small and large scale-free networks. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2023.

Using a metaheuristic deep learning strategy, the research focuses on the challenge of epileptic seizure detection. A diagnostic tool known as an electroencephalogram (EEG) may detect improperly functioning brain cells, the underlying cause of seizures. To enhance the precision of seizure detection, the offered approach merges deep learning with a metaheuristic optimization technique. This method involves preprocessing raw EEG data in order to extract fundamental characteristics. A classifier that is part of a deep learning system is subsequently fed these characteristics in stages. When it comes to finding a decent solution with high accuracy dimensions, the metaheuristic component finds the optimal values for the deep learning model. Due to the sluggish convergence and trapping of local minima in standard clustering methods, this approach seeks to improve detection performance. Using industry standard EEG datasets, we evaluate our hybrid technique's performance to that of other relevant models. These findings demonstrate that the system is a dependable tool for real-time seizure detection, with sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy all surpassing the current standards. This method stands head and shoulders above its predecessors, proving its viability for clinical usage in epilepsy monitoring and diagnosis. © 2024 IEEE.

In recent times, the number of spam reviews through various online platforms has emerged as a prime challenge, profoundly impacting businesses and consumers. These fake reviews not only distort clients' perceptions of products and services but also erode trust within the digital ecosystem. Despite the advent of machine learning (ML) techniques for identifying spam reviews, comparing text, and pinpointing groups of spammers, there remain notable gaps in both accuracy and the combination of interactive visualization for real-time decision-making. This paper presents SpamVis, a visual interactive system that leverages deep learning (DL) and ML blended with advanced visualization techniques for spam review detection, enabling analysts to conduct complicated analytical queries. The system allows users to input via click-on or touch to generate interactive charts and plots tailored for spam review analysis. The findings of the baseline test carried out on 67,395 review texts demonstrate that Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) carried out the best accuracy (86%) compared to other models. Our outcomes suggest that SpamVis can alleviate the gaps concerning accuracy and visualization needs in contemporary techniques, guiding analysts to make informed decisions for mitigating spam reviews and enhancing consumer trust. Furthermore, SpamVis empowers users to seamlessly discover the online reviews of various social media platforms in real-time, such as Facebook, Youtube, etc., giving them practical insights to navigate the online marketplace effectively. © 2024 The Authors.

Muscular Dystrophy (MD) is a group of inherited muscular diseases that are commonly diagnosed with the help of techniques such asmuscle biopsy, clinical presentation, and Muscle Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI). Among these techniques, Muscle MRI recommends the diagnosis ofmuscular dystrophy through identification of the patterns that exist in musclefatty replacement. But the patterns overlap among various diseases whereasthere is a lack of knowledge prevalent with regards to disease-specific ***, artificial intelligence techniques can be used in the diagnosis ofmuscular dystrophies, which enables us to analyze, learn, and predict forthe future. In this scenario, the current research article presents an automated muscular dystrophy detection and classification model using SynergicDeep Learning (SDL) method with extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost),called SDL-XGBoost. SDL-XGBoost model has been proposed to act as anautomated deep learning (DL) model that examines the muscle MRI dataand diagnose muscular dystrophies. SDL-XGBoost model employs Kapur’sentropy based Region of Interest (RoI) for detection purposes. Besides, SDLbased feature extraction process is applied to derive a useful set of featurevectors. Finally, XGBoost model is employed as a classification approach todetermine proper class labels for muscle MRI data. The researcher conductedextensive set of simulations to showcase the superior performance of SDLXGBoost model. The obtained experimental values highlighted the supremacyof SDL-XGBoost model over other methods in terms of high accuracy being96.18% and 94.25% classification performance upon DMD and BMD respectively. Therefore, SDL-XGBoost model can help physicians in the diagnosis of muscular dystrophies by identifying the patterns of muscle fatty replacementin muscle MRI.

Semi-supervised multi-label learning (SSMLL) refers to inducing classifiers using a small number of samples with multiple labels and many unlabeled samples. The prevalent solution of SSMLL involves forming pseudo-labels for unlabeled samples and inducing classifiers using both labeled and pseudo-labeled samples in a self-training manner. Unfortunately, with the commonly used binary type of loss and negative sampling, we have empirically found that learning with labeled and pseudo-labeled samples can result in the variance bias problem between the feature distributions of positive and negative samples for each label. To alleviate this problem, we aim to balance the variance bias between positive and negative samples from the perspective of the feature angle distribution for each label. Specifically, we extend the traditional binary angular margin loss to a balanced extension with feature angle distribution transformations under the Gaussian assumption, where the distributions are iteratively updated during classifier training. We also suggest an efficient prototype-based negative sampling method to maintain high-quality negative samples for each label. With this insight, we propose a novel SSMLL method, namely Semi-Supervised Multi-Label Learning with Balanced Binary Angular Margin loss (S2ML2-BBAM). To evaluate the effectiveness of S2ML2-BBAM, we compare it with existing competitors on benchmark datasets. Augmented Reality(AR) is a rising subject in computer vision and photos, which has the potential to revolutionize the way human beings, interact with their physical surroundings. With the aid of combining actual-world imagery with computer-generated imagery or digital items, AR offers customers an interactive revel that goes beyond conventional 2nd monitors and shows. Image-based Modeling is one of the key techniques used in AR to create interactive three-D reviews. This approach involves creating three-D models based totally on actual global pix taken from a couple of angles. The ensuing model contains information approximately the item's geometry, shade, texture, and different attributes. At present, the threats to network security are also increasing, among which abnormal traffic detection is the key link to ensure network security. Traditional detection methods based on signature or threshold are often difficult to adapt to the increasingly complex network environment and new attack methods. Therefore, this paper optimizes and improves the data processing technology, proposes a network ATD method based on particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm, and explores in detail the traffic data collection and pre-processing, the feature recognition of abnormal traffic, the application of PSO algorithm, real-time monitoring and response mechanism. The results of two sets of simulation experiments are as follows: compared with the traditional model, the accuracy rate of ATD of the improved algorithm is increased by 7.2% on average, and the detection time is reduced by 7.35s on average. This method not only enhances the adaptability of the model to new attacks, but also improves the degree of automation of detection. © 2024 The Authors.

Next POI recommendation aids users in predicting their destinations of interest and plays an increasingly vital role in location-based social services. Recent works focus on analyzing both long-term and short-term interests in POI recommendation to gain a deeper understanding of user profiles. However, these methods for modeling long-term user's sequences primarily rely on the Transformer model, which functions as a low-pass filter, often leading to the loss of high-frequency information. Additionally, long-term and short-term sequences are typically modeled independently, with short-term sequences often defined solely by the most recent check-ins, overlooking their interactions and dependencies. Therefore, we propose Enhancing Long-and Short-Term Representations for Next POI Recommendations via Frequency and Hierarchical Contrastive Learning (FHCRec). FHCRec captures both high-frequency and low-frequency information in long-term sequences to model richer long-term user's preference representations. Moreover, it harnesses the characteristics of the short-term subsequences embedded within long-term sequences to enhance short-term preference characterization via local and global hierarchical contrastive learning, resulting in more personalized short-term preferences. The enhanced long-term and short-term preferences are integrated to improve model recommendation performance.
