The theory of a quantum-limited phase-matching effect in a Λ-type lasing system is studied in detail based on the quantum Langevin approach. Two quasimonochromatic fields are directly generated based on two lasing transitions. We find that the coherence between two lasers can well exceed the linewidth of either laser field. This result denotes that two field phases match each other although either laser field has a high phase fluctuation. Unlike the phase-matching effect based on atomic absorption, the final coherence between two laser fields here is not limited by saturation broadening, and the higher laser intensities lead to a higher coherence. Additionally, based on a linear stability analysis, we find that the instability of the field steady state can substantially restrict the occurrence of this phase-matching effect in the bad-cavity limit for a high pump rate. We also discuss the spectrum of amplitude fluctuations of output fields, and the result shows that the squeezing of amplitude fluctuations at low frequencies for a single field oscillating inside the cavity is damaged in the case of two fields oscillating.

Software systems represent one of the most complex man-made systems. In this paper, we analyze the evolution of Object-Oriented (OO) software using complex network theory from a multi-granularity perspective. First, the software net works are constructed for a multi-version software system at different levels of granularity. Then, some parameters used in complex network theory are introduced to study the topological characteristics of these software networks. By investigating the parameters' values in consecutive software networks, we have a better understanding about software evolution. A case study on an open source OO project, Azureus, is conducted as an example to illustrate our approach. It uncovers some underlying dynamic characteristics of OO systems. These results provide a different dimension to our understanding of software system dynamics and also are very useful for the design and development of OO software systems.

In order to handle the hypercompetitive and volatile market, an innovative design framework is presented in this paper to make the simulation system flexible, extensible and reusable. The simulation model is divided into three submodels: the core model defines the basic structure of the simulation scenario, the data model maintains the detailed information of the simulation model, and the runtime model manages work flows and object life-cycles during simulation. Then the three sub-models are linked through a creative "composite", which is a special component describing the relationships between the sub-models. Neutral interfaces are provided to make outer tools in using transparent to the simulation system. Empirical results show that the implemented simulation system can model and analyze various supply chains and users can extend the existing simulation components easily. The research in the paper can cope with the increasing demand of supply chain simulation, and thus enable more economic and efficient quantitative analysis on supply chain.
