In this work, a ZIF-67/MWCNT/Nafion sensor platform was constructed based on the good adsorption capacity of ZIF-67, the electrical conductivity of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and the excellent chemical stability of Nafion for the detection of Cu2+ in water. Meanwhile, the modified materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FT-IR). Cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and square wave stripping voltammetry (SWSV) were used to characterize and test ZIF-67/MWCNT/Nafion/GCE. The results show that ZIF-67/MWCNT/Nafion/GCE has high sensitivity (57.5 μA/μM) and a low limit of detection (4.3 nM) for the electrochemical detection of Cu2+ ions in an electrochemical sensing system. Finally, the modified electrode has good repeatability, reproductivity, anti-interference and stability and can be applied to test domestic water. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Sidechain techniques improve blockchain scalability and interoperability, providing decentralized exchange and cross-chain collaboration solutions for Internet of Things (IoT) data across various domains. However, current state-of-the-art (SOTA) schemes for IoT multi-domain data exchange are constrained by the need for synchronous networks, hindering efficient cross-chain interactions in discontinuous networks and leading to suboptimal data exchange. In this paper, we propose AsyncSC, a novel asynchronous sidechain construction. It employs a committee to provide Cross-Blockchain as a Service (C-BaaS) for data exchange in multi-domain IoT. To fulfill the need for asynchronous and efficient data exchange, we combine the ideas of aggregate signatures and verifiable delay functions to devise a novel cryptographic primitive called delayed aggregate signature (DAS), which constructs asynchronous cross-chain proofs (ACPs) that ensure the security of cross-chain interactions. To ensure the consistency of asynchronous transactions, we propose a multilevel buffered transaction pool that guarantees the transaction sequencing. We analyze and prove the security of AsyncSC, simulate an asynchronous communication environment, and conduct a comprehensive evaluation. The results show that AsyncSC outperforms SOTA schemes, improving throughput by an average of 1.21 to 3.96 times, reducing transaction latency by 59.76% to 83.61%, and maintaining comparable resource overhead. Aquatic biomonitoring technologies are widely used to detect and identify hazardous chemicals and pollutants in aquatic ecosystems. With the advancement of technology, this study focuses on providing a review of current trends and challenges related to aquatic biomonitoring. In particular, the advancements made in the designs of biosensors and Biological Early Warning systems (BEWS) were presented. This includes biosensors that utilize luminescent bacteria, algae, living and/or microbial fuel cells. For BEWS, those that use fishes, daphnids, and bivalves as sentinel organisms were discussed. It was shown that biosensors and BEWS show promising potential for monitoring water quality of aquatic ecosystems as they allow for real-time monitoring while performing comparably to traditional analytical methods. Despite the various research done, there are still some issues and challenges concerning aquatic biomonitoring. BEWS and biosensors were shown to have their advantages and disadvantages. Biosensors can quantify the tested parameters but are analyte-specific and often need to be replaced upon detection. On the other hand, BEWS allow for continuous real-time monitoring but are often site-specific and require an established baseline data of the water quality parameters. To combat the issues, this study proposes designing a BEWS using bivalves for early detection and utilizing analytical methods to confirm changes in water quality. It is also recommended that further research be done to determine levels of toxicity, capacity to meet needs, and water quality baseline data for local aquatic ecosystems. © 2022 IEEE.

With the idea of divide and rule, there exist two different forms of semantic features flowing in the two stage instance segmentation paradigms. They are the global features at the image level and the instance features at the region-wise. The most significant distinction of the two macro-semantic morphological features lies in the different relevance of neighborhood features caused by background noise. Hence, we should consider different situations and make different schemes. Notice that the fields-of-view determines the range of local features that can be perceived in the convolution operation and implies the representation capability of the network. To this end, for FPN and Mask Head in two stage paradigms, we propose a more efficient methodology with Group-Inception and Asymmetric-Inception modules. This proposed methodology can act as a drop-in replacement to upgrade the plain convolution operation, which enables the network to look more via modeling long-range dependencies. Our method is simple yet effective. Quantitatively, we can significantly improve the state-of-the-art frameworks, including Mask R-CNN, Mask Scoring R-CNN, Cascade Mask R-CNN, and HTC by about 1.2%–2.2% AP on MS COCO test-dev yet with fewer parameters and FLOPs. Moreover, the proposed approach achieves competitive performances on the Scapes, KINS and SBD datasets. The source code of our method will be made available. © 2022 Elsevier Ltd

The detection of S100 Calcium Binding Protein A6, a useful cholangiocarcinoma marker, has been demonstrated for the first time using silicon nitride photonic resonator sensor. The sensor was designed and fabricated by low-cost 500 nm technology. Label-free sensing results based on the reactions between anti-S100A6 antibody and S100A6 antigen, showed good sensitivity and specificity. This sensing technique has potential in low-cost and low-level detection of the biomarker, deserving further study. © 2022 IEEE.

In order to meet the personalized needs of users and provide better recommendations, how to analyse the user interest accurately has become the focus of research currently. Due to the short content of micro-blog data, the sufficient semantic information it is difficult to get, which leads to the difficulty in accurately mining user interest. Traditional methods mainly use social relations to mine user interest, solving the problem of sparse data to a certain extent. But for users with single social relations, there is a cold start problem, which makes it unable to establish an effective user interest model. In addition, user interest will change over time which results in deviations when using traditional feature extraction methods. In order to solve the problems, we present an interest mining model of micro-blog users by using multi-modal semantics and interest decay model. It builds a connection among semantic relations in multidimensional features. It can solve the data-sparse problem, as well as the cold start problem. The fusion of multiple data semantic represents user interest features more comprehensively. To solve the problem of user interest migration, we propose an interest decay model to assist mining user interest better. In this paper, experiments are carried out on the dataset of 2, 938 user information extracted from micro-blog. The experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper significantly improves the accuracy of user interest mining compared with the existing methods. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2020.

Recently, there is a lot of research on sentiment analysis. When existing models extract text features, semantic information can’t be fully obtained, because they ignore context connection between historical texts and current texts. Meanwhile, models cannot self-optimize extraction algorithms, making key sentiment semantics be neglected, because they can’t track and feedback analysis results. Furthermore, models extract insufficient sentiment features, resulting in imperfect semantic extraction and unsatisfactory analysis results, because they only extract POS features. To solve the above problems, we propose a general model of sentiment analysis based on multimode semantic extraction and sentiment attention enhancement mechanism (MS-SAE). The model includes a multimode semantic extraction processing (a multimode semantic extraction module and a sentiment attention enhancement mechanism), an extended dictionary (ExWordNet) and a sentiment analysis module. The multimode semantic extraction module extracts semantic features from multiple perspectives and pays close attention to extracted features, which solves the problem of insufficient semantic extraction. We propose a sentiment attention enhancement mechanism to solve the problem that sentiment semantics is neglected. We construct a general extended dictionary to support MS-SAE in semantic extraction processing. The LSTM-based sentiment analysis module ensures the accuracy of sentiment analysis. We evaluate MS-SAE on SST-2, MR and Subj datasets. Extensive experiments have been conducted and the results demonstrate that MS-SAE could achieve better sentiment analysis performance than the state-of-the-art algorithms in accuracy. It solves the problems including poor understanding of text semantics and errors in analysis results. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)-mounted edge devices are particularly advantageous for federated edge learning (FEEL) due to their flexibility and mobility in efficient data collection. In UAV-assisted FEEL, sensing, computation, and communication are coupled and compete for limited onboard resources, and UAV deployment also affects sensing and communication performance. Therefore, the joint design of UAV deployment and resource allocation is crucial to achieving the optimal training performance. In this paper, we address the problem of joint UAV deployment design and resource allocation for FEEL via a concrete case study of human motion recognition based on wireless sensing. Due to the nonideal sensing channels, we consider the probabilistic sensing model. Then, we derive the upper bound of the FEEL training loss as a function of the sensing probability. We formulate a training time minimization problem by jointly optimizing UAV deployment, integrated sensing, computation, and communication (ISCC) resources under a desirable optimality gap constraint. To solve this challenging mixed-integer non-convex problem, we propose our algorithm based on the alternating optimization technique. Simulation results demonstrate that our algorithm outperforms other baselines regarding convergence rate and testing accuracy.
