In electric power transmission and distribution systems, the use of overhead lines instead of underground cables is preferred by power utilities mainly due to the lower construction cost and the easier maintenance access. On the other hand the equipment used in overhead lines is stressed by several factors, such as weather conditions, lightning, vegetation fires, etc. In particular, vegetation fires under the overhead transmission lines could have catastrophic results for the installed equipment and can cause long-lasting electricity interruptions. In this study, condition assessment results are presented for eighteen 150 kV composite insulators exposed to a forest fire event, occurred in the August 2021, in the island of Rhodes, Greece. The evaluation of the fire effects on composite insulators was performed by employing several macroscopic and microscopic diagnostic techniques including visual inspection, hydrophobicity classification, Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and optical microscopy analysis. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2023.

Software vulnerabilities damage the reliability of software systems. Recently, many methods based on deep learning have been proposed for vulnerability detection by learning features from code sequences or various property graphs. However, sequence-based methods frequently fail to consider the structural information of the code, whereas graph-based methods often encounter difficulties in capturing long-distance contextual semantic information. To overcome these limitations, we propose PTCN, a novel vulnerability detection method that integrates Pre-Trained code language model and Convolutional Neural network (CNN). First, the code tokens sequence and the propagation chains are constructed from the source code in preparation for the subsequent feature extraction. Next, GraphCodeBERT, a graph-based pre-trained code language model, is introduced as a means of learning both the semantic and structural information contained in the code tokens sequence and the propagation chains. Then, a CNN architecture is designed to effectively extract the crucial vulnerability features from the hidden states of the last Transformer layer of GraphCodeBERT for vulnerability detection. The experiments on the public benchmark dataset REVEAL indicate that PTCN outperforms the state-of-the-art methods with respect to the Accuracy and F1-score metrics by 3.41%-15.80% and 22.68%-104.27%, respectively. © 2024 Knowledge systems Institute Graduate School. Cooperative coevolution (CC) algorithms, based on the divide-and-conquer strategy, have emerged as the predominant approach to solving large-scale global optimization (LSGO) problems. The efficiency and accuracy of the grouping stage significantly impact the performance of the optimization process. While the general separability grouping (GSG) method has overcome the limitation of previous differential grouping (DG) methods by enabling the decomposition of nonadditively separable functions, it suffers from high computational complexity. To address this challenge, this article proposes a composite separability grouping (CSG) method, seamlessly integrating DG and GSG into a problem decomposition framework to utilize the strengths of both approaches. CSG introduces a step-by-step decomposition framework that accurately decomposes various problem types using fewer computational resources. By sequentially identifying additively, multiplicatively and generally separable variables, CSG progressively groups nonseparable variables by recursively considering the interactions between each nonseparable variable and the formed nonseparable groups. Furthermore, to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of CSG, we introduce two innovative methods: a multiplicatively separable variable detection method and a nonseparable variable grouping method. These two methods are designed to effectively detect multiplicatively separable variables and efficiently group nonseparable variables, respectively. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that CSG achieves more accurate variable grouping with lower computational complexity compared to GSG and state-of-the-art DG-series designs. © 2024 IEEE.

With the rapid development of cloud computing, more and more data are stored in the cloud server. However, due to the increasing demands for security and user privacy, sensitive data are expected to be stored in an encrypted manner. Then how to perform keyword search over the encrypted data becomes a key issue. The technology of searchable encryption has been proposed to address this issue, which allows the data owners share their encrypted data with users without leaking the queried keyword privacy. In this paper, we study forward and backward private searchable encryption with fine-grained access control. Our system can resist against the file injection attacks from malicious cloud and support forward and backward data privacy. In addition, it enables the data owners to enforce "AND""NOT"attribute-based access control on the data. We analyze the security and simulate the system. The experiment results show that our system can be applicable in the real-world scenarios. © 2023 IEEE.

Sharing the hardware platform between diverse information systems to establish full cooperation among different functionalities has attracted substantial ***,broadband multifunctional integrated systems with large operating frequency ranges are challenging due to the bandwidth and computing speed restrictions of electronic ***,we report an analog parallel processor(APP)based on the silicon photonic platform that directly discretizes and parallelizes the broadband signal in the analog *** APP first discretizes the signal with the optical frequency comb and then adopts optical dynamic phase interference to reassign the analog signal into 2N parallel *** photonic analog parallelism,data rate and data volume in each sequence are simultaneously compressed,which mitigates the requirement on each parallel computing ***,the fusion of the outputs from each computing core is equivalent to directly processing broadband *** the proof-of-concept experiment,two-channel analog parallel processing of broadband radar signals and high-speed communication signals is implemented on the single photonic integrated *** bandwidth of broadband radar signal is 6 GHz and the range resolution of 2.69 cm is *** wireless communication rate of 8 Gbit/s is also *** the bandwidth and speed limitations of the single-computing core along with further exploring the multichannel potential of this architecture,we anticipate that the proposed APP will accelerate the development of powerful optoelectronic processors as critical support for applications such as satellite networks and intelligent driving.

Automated skin lesion classification in dermoscopy images remains challenging due to the existence of artefacts and intrinsic cutaneous features, diversity of lesion morphology, insufficiency of training data, and class imbalance problem. To address these challenges, we propose a new densely connected convolutional network termed AttDenseNet-121, which is obtained by integrating the convolutional block attention module (CBAM) into DenseNet-121. CBAM is a simple yet efficient attention module, which is further improved by adding a novel pooling layer (multiscale-pooling) to effectively enhance its attention capability. The optimized CBAM strengthens the representation power of DenseNet-121 by emphasizing meaningful features and suppressing unnecessary ones, thus significantly enhancing the classification performance. Besides, to handle the imbalanced dataset, we employ an improved focal loss function rather than the traditional cross-entropy loss function to train AttDenseNet-121. The improved focal loss is calculated from a different perspective compared with the original focal loss. It makes the distribution of positive samples and negative samples in each batch the same as that in the original data, successfully mitigating the negative influence of class imbalance on this multi-class classification task. We conduct extensive experiments on the public benchmark dataset (HAM10000) and the results indicate that our proposed method achieves superior performance compared with that of the baselines and state-of-the-art algorithms. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Pre-trained code models have achieved promising results in the vulnerability detection field. The prevailing approach is to adapt these models with vulnerability datasets using inefficient full-model fine-tuning. These pre-trained models primarily capture the semantic features of code, while neglecting its structural characteristics. To address these issues, this paper proposes a vulnerability detection method with adapter tuning and enhanced feature learning. First, adapter modules are introduced to UniXcoder and tune only the parameters in the adapters to extract semantic features. This significantly reduces the number of training parameters and better adapts the model to downstream tasks. Then, structural features, including control and data flow information, are extracted from the Program Dependence Graph (PDG) to compensate for the limitations of pre-trained models that rely solely on semantic features. Finally, the semantic and structural features are integrated to train the detection model. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art approaches and is highly efficient in terms of both training parameters and training data. © 2024 Knowledge systems Institute Graduate School. Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) offers low-latency and high-bandwidth support for Internet-of-Vehicles (IoV) applications. However, due to high vehicle mobility and finite communication coverage of base stations, it is hard to maintain uninterrupted and high-quality services without proper service migration among MEC servers. Existing solutions commonly rely on prior knowledge and rarely consider efficient resource allocation during the service migration process, making it hard to reach optimal performance in dynamic IoV environments. To address these important challenges, we propose SR-CL, a novel mobility-aware seamless Service migration and Resource allocation framework via Convex-optimization-enabled deep reinforcement Learning in multi-edge IoV systems. First, we decouple the Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming (MINLP) problem of service migration and resource allocation into two sub-problems. Next, we design a new actor-critic-based asynchronous-update deep reinforcement learning method to handle service migration, where the delayed-update actor makes migration decisions and the one-step-update critic evaluates the decisions to guide the policy update. Notably, we theoretically derive the optimal resource allocation with convex optimization for each MEC server, thereby further improving system performance. Using the real-world datasets of vehicle trajectories and testbed, extensive experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed SR-CL. Compared to benchmark methods, the SR-CL achieves superior convergence and delay performance under various scenarios. © 2025 IEEE.
