Blockchain-enabled IoT access control model for sharing electronic healthcare data

Deploying the Internet of Things (IoT) in the transfer of enormous medical data often promotes challenges with the security, confidentiality, and privacy of the user’s sensitive data. In addition, the access control for prohibiting unauthorized access has been facing challenges with single-point-of-failure, collusion, and other security issues. To address these challenges associated with IoT access control, this research proposes a Blockchain-enabled IoT access control for sharing Electronic health records (EHR). The proposed authentic access control scheme transfers the data to the authenticated user without discrepancies. The proposed technique utilizes the hyperledger composer fabric blockchain that improves the transparency and traceability of the network, and the intelligent contract keeps track of the information, which reduces the possibility of unauthorized access. The proposed access control scheme validates the request effectively and transmits the data efficiently. The effectiveness of the proposed access control scheme is evaluated by analyzing the blocks in terms of metrics such as responsiveness of 185.47 secs, 95% Genuine User Detection (GUD), 96.50% Privacy, and 3.50% Information loss, for 100 blocks and proposed access control scheme works more efficiently in transmitting the data. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Layout Decomposition via Boolean Satisfiability

Multiple patterning lithography (MPL) has been introduced in the integrated circuits manufacturing industry to enhance feature density as the technology node advances. A crucial step of MPL is assigning layout features to different masks, namely layout decomposition. Exact algorithms like integer linear programming (ILP) can solve layout decomposition to optimality but lack scalability for dense patterns. Relaxation algorithms (e.g., linear programming and semi-definite programming) and heuristics (e.g., exact cover) are capable of handling large cases at the cost of inferior solution quality. These methods rely on different mathematical solvers and expert-designed heuristics to offer a balance between solution quality and computational efficiency. In this article, we propose a unified layout decomposition framework comprising three algorithms: 1) satisfiability (SAT)-exact;2) SAT-bilevel;and 3) SAT-fast, all leveraging the capabilities of Boolean SAT solvers. The SAT-exact ensures optimality, but with faster convergence than ILP, SAT-bilevel addresses the decomposition as a bilevel optimization problem for rapid near-optimal solutions, and SAT-fast handles very large layouts in an incremental manner. Experimental results demonstrate our framework's superiority over existing state-of-the-art methods in terms of solution quality and runtime. © 2024 IEEE.

As the application of Industrial Robots(IRs)scales and related participants increase,the demands for intelligent Operation and Maintenance(O&M)and multi-tenant collaboration *** methods could no longer cover the requirements,while the Industrial Internet of Things(IIoT)has been considered a promising ***,there’s a lack of IIoT platforms dedicated to IR O&M,including IR maintenance,process optimization,and knowledge *** this context,this paper puts forward the multi-tenant-oriented ACbot platform,which attempts to provide the first holistic IIoT-based solution for O&M of *** on an information model designed for the IR field,ACbot has implemented an application architecture with resource and microservice management across the cloud and multiple *** this basis,we develop four vital applications including real-time monitoring,health management,process optimization,and knowledge *** have deployed the ACbot platform in real-world scenarios that contain various participants,types of IRs,and *** date,ACbot has been accessed by 10 organizations and managed 60 industrial robots,demonstrating that the platform fulfills our ***,the application results also showcase its robustness,versatility,and adaptability for developing and hosting intelligent robot applications.

A Progressive Spectral Correction and Spatial Compensation Network for Pansharpening

Pansharpening aims to produce a high resolution multispectral image by fusing a panchromatic image with a low-resolution multispectral image. Current pansharpening methods often overlook the significant modality differences between source images and lack interaction between them, resulting in spatial-spectral distortions. To address these issues, we proposed a novel progressive spectral correction and spatial compensation network for pansharpening. The network comprises a spectral correction branch, a spatial compensation branch, and a spectral-spatial fusion (SSF) branch. In the spectral correction branch, we designed a local spectral reinforcement (LSR) module and a global spectral rectification (GSR) module to keep the spectral fidelity. The LSR module is designed to reinforce the unique local information from different kinds of spectral features, while the GSR module captures long-range dependency and rectifies the spectral features with a cross-attention mechanism. In the spatial compensation branch, we designed a multiscale dilated adaptive feature extraction module guided by spectral and spatial attention to extract useful spatial details, and the details are progressively compensated into the SSF branch to better keep spatial fidelity. The SSF branch is designed to interact with spectral correction branch and spatial compensation branch to mitigate the modal difference and progressively optimize the spectral-spatial information. Comprehensive experiments show that the proposed method outperforms current state-of-the-art pansharpening methods. © 2008-2012 IEEE.

Training Latency Minimization for Model-Splitting Allowed Federated Edge Learning

To alleviate the shortage of computing power faced by clients in training deep neural networks (DNNs) using federated learning (FL), we leverage the edge computing and split learning to propose a model-splitting allowed FL (SFL) framework, with the aim to minimize the training latency without loss of test accuracy. Under the synchronized global update setting, the latency to complete a round of global training is determined by the maximum latency for the clients to complete a local training session. Therefore, the training latency minimization problem (TLMP) is modelled as a minimizing-maximum problem. To solve this mixed integer nonlinear programming problem, we first propose a regression method to fit the quantitative-relationship between the cut-layer and other parameters of an AI-model, and thus, transform the TLMP into a continuous problem. Considering that the two subproblems involved in the TLMP, namely, the cut-layer selection problem for the clients and the computing resource allocation problem for the parameter-server are relative independence, an alternate-optimization-based algorithm with polynomial time complexity is developed to obtain a high-quality solution to the TLMP. Extensive experiments are performed on a popular DNN-model EfficientNetV2 using dataset MNIST, and the results verify the validity and improved performance of the proposed SFL framework. © 2013 IEEE.

Wireless Capsule Endoscopy (WCE) emerged as an innovative and patient-centric approach for non-invasive and painless examination of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. It serves as a pivotal tool in helping medical practitioners in the early detection of anomalies within the intricate domain of the human GI tract. The automated identification of aberrations assumes paramount significance, contributing not only to temporal efficiency but also to timely diagnosis. Within the realm of academic literature, a plethora of Artificial Intelligence (AI) methodologies have been proposed to effectuate the automatic classification, segmentation, and synthesis of anomalies inherent in WCE images. This scholarly endeavor undertakes a comprehensive and meticulous survey, elucidating the spectrum of anomaly classification, summarization, and detection techniques harnessed for computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) in the context of WCE images. The survey begins by delineating the methodologies underpinning WCE image classification and video processing. Subsequently, an exhaustive evaluation of techniques for analyzing WCE images is furnished, accompanied by an in-depth exploration of pertinent surveys, in addition to a judicious assessment of their merits and demerits. Furthermore, this study undertakes a rigorous evaluation of prevailing datasets utilized to benchmark the efficacy of various WCE techniques. Aiming at the problem that the iForest algorithm is not sensitive enough to local anomalies and produces a large number of false alarms in the detection results on some low sea state datasets, this paper proposes the iForest algorithm based on an improved splitting strategy. The algorithm introduces the Gini impurity, incorporates the Gini impurity parameter into the splitting strategy, and is more targeted in the selection of splitting attributes and splitting points, thus better adapting to the problem of detecting weak targets under different sea states, and has an excellent performance of high accuracy, low time duration, and low false alarm rate compared with the traditional methods in anomaly detection. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Visual Language Models (VLMs) have rapidly progressed with the recent success of large language models. However, there have been few attempts to incorporate efficient linear Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) architectures into VLMs. In this study, we introduce VisualRWKV, the first application of a linear RNN model to multimodal learning tasks, leveraging the pre-trained RWKV language model. We propose a data-dependent recurrence and sandwich prompts to enhance our modeling capabilities, along with a 2D image scanning mechanism to enrich the processing of visual sequences. Extensive experiments demonstrate that VisualRWKV achieves competitive performance compared to Transformer-based models like LLaVA-1.5 on various benchmarks. Compared to LLaVA-1.5, VisualRWKV has a speed advantage of 3.98 times and can save 54% of GPU memory when reaching an inference length of 24K tokens. Neural-symbolic systems (NSSs), which are typically cyber-physical systems integrated with artificial intelligence modules, have received much attention in both academic and industrial fields. However, thorough verification (such as model checking) of such systems in general leads to prohibitively high costs due to the scale of the state space, and this makes it barely accomplishable within desired time-span. Consequently, light-weight verification techniques are introduced to deal with such cases, e.g., runtime verification (RV, for short). In this paper, we investigate an RV framework for NSSs against signal temporal logic (STL) properties. To guarantee that the on-line monitoring could be accomplished in time, we utilize Euler-prediction to sample the system under scrutiny at discrete time-steps. Our framework supports both qualitative and quantitative on-line monitoring of STL specifications, and thus it terminates whenever a property is satisfied and/or violated by a finite prefix of the trajectory, and it can also provide the bounds of the quantitative satisfaction/violation w.r.t. the remaining execution. Notably, for the so-called piece-wise linear NSSs against affine STL formulas, our approach is exact. On top of it, a prototype tool is implemented, and is experimentally evaluated. There are 466 M deaf across the world according to World Health Organisation. They are deprived of their basic human right which is communicating with others. Many solutions have been developed to help hard-of-hearing people overcome communication barriers. The existing sign language recognition research focuses on sign languages other than Tunisian Sign Language. Consequently, a Tunisian Sign Language dataset, TunSL-D, was developed for this research. The dataset contains static images that are more complex and can generalize the classification tasks. The images represent the most used words and alphabets in Tunisian Sign language. This paper proposes a novel model TunSLR-25 that recognizes and classifies static Tunisian sign language. The model is first trained on the words data, achieving an accuracy of 95.49%, then trained on both words and alphabets, achieving an accuracy of 88%, with a low parameter number of 1,098,901. The TunSL-D has been trained on SLRNet-8 CNN, a 4-layer CNN model, pre-trained models Resnet50, Resnet101, and InceptionV3. The paper compares the performance of these CNN models and the proposed CNN model TunSLR-25. The system will be integrated into a web application designed to be accessible and user-friendly for this community. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.
