Cardinality estimation for property graph queries with gated learning approach on the graph database

With the increasing complexity of graph query processing tasks, it is difficult for users to obtain the accurate cardinality before or during the execution of query tasks. Accurate estimate query cardinality is crucial for property graph data model, which usually involves entities, multiple joins, and various types of properties (key-value pairs). While learning-based approaches have been used in query optimization, estimating the cardinality of property graph queries is still particularly challenging. In this paper, we first formally represent each property graph query and then divide the estimation process into three phases: query execution, training data generation, and model training. Secondly, we construct a data pool to deal the updating query workloads in the training data generation phase. Thirdly, we utilize the gate mechanism to develop a cardinality estimation framework based on deep learning neural networks for property graph queries in the Neo4j database, and we propose a hybrid loss function to optimize the training process. Finally, we adopt a method of pre-aggregating the underlying data to speed up query execution in the first phase. The result of the experiment on two real-world datasets shows that our optimized methods can effectively improve the estimation accuracy of the deep learning model, and our query estimator outperforms other deep learning models compared in terms of estimation accuracy. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

In this study,twelve machine learning(ML)techniques are used to accurately estimate the safety factor of rock slopes(SFRS).The dataset used for developing these models consists of 344 rock slopes from various open-pit mines around Iran,evenly distributed between the training(80%)and testing(20%)*** models are evaluated for accuracy using Janbu's limit equilibrium method(LEM)and commercial tool GeoStudio *** assessment metrics show that the random forest model is the most accurate in estimating the SFRS(MSE=0.0182,R2=0.8319)and shows high agreement with the results from the LEM *** results from the long-short-term memory(LSTM)model are the least accurate(MSE=0.037,R2=0.6618)of all the models ***,only the null space support vector regression(NuSVR)model performs accurately compared to the practice mode by altering the value of one parameter while maintaining the other parameters *** is suggested that this model would be the best one to use to calculate the SFRS.A graphical user interface for the proposed models is developed to further assist in the calculation of the SFRS for engineering *** this study,we attempt to bridge the gap between modern slope stability evaluation techniques and more conventional analysis methods.

This study presents a comparative analysis of ten pre-trained convolutional neural network (CNN) models, evaluated across three remote sensing datasets: EuroSat, NWPU, and Earth Hazards (Land Sliding). We investigate the interplay between model architecture and classifier selection by incorporating five different neural network (NN) classifiers, emphasizing their impact on predictive accuracy and computational efficiency. Due to its densely connected architecture, DenseNet201 achieved the highest accuracy—97% on EuroSat, 99.40% on NWPU, and 97.80% on Earth Hazards. In contrast, MobileNetV2, while slightly less accurate, demonstrated superior computational efficiency, recording the shortest prediction times of 39.943 s on EuroSat, 27.482 s on NWPU, and 2.8986 s on Earth Hazards. Additionally, classifier choice significantly influenced performance, with the Wide NN classifier excelling in diverse datasets and the Medium NN classifier optimizing speed. Our findings underscore the importance of balancing accuracy and efficiency in selecting CNN models for remote sensing applications, suggesting future research should explore ensembling techniques and lightweight models to enhance performance. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2025.

The rapid evolution of autonomous and connected vehicles has led to their integration with numerous technologies and software, rendering them vulnerable targets for cybersecurity attacks. While efforts have traditionally focused on preventing these attacks, the escalating risk underscores the importance of also vindicating their wallop. Nevertheless, this procedure is often onerous & facade scalability confronted, particularly due to connectivity issues in automobiles. This research advises a vehicle-based vibrant imposition response scheme, enabling swift responses to a variety of incidents and reducing reliance on external security centers. The classification encompasses an inclusive range of probable retorts, a procedure for evaluating retorts, & innumerable assortment approaches. Implemented on an embedded platform, the solution was evaluated using two distinct cyberattack use cases, highlighting its adaptability, responsiveness, volume for dynamic arrangement constraint alterations & nominal memory trail. Concurrently, this paper presents an innovative (AVSF) that synergistically integrates (AI) and cybersecurity techniques to fortify AV resilience against evolving threats. Additionally, the framework incorporates advanced cybersecurity measures such as encryption, authentication, and intrusion detection to mitigate vulnerabilities and safeguard critical AV systems. The fusion of AI and cybersecurity not only enhances AV security posture but also enables intelligent cyber threat monitoring and response capabilities. Extensive simulations and experimental evaluations demonstrate the efficacy of the AVSF in real-time scenarios, contributing to the development of robust security solutions for autonomous vehicle deployment and advancing safer transportation systems in the era of AI-driven mobility. © 2024 IEEE.

Federated learning has been used extensively in business inno-vation scenarios in various *** research adopts the federated learning approach for the first time to address the issue of bank-enterprise information asymmetry in the credit assessment ***,this research designs a credit risk assessment model based on federated learning and feature selection for micro and small enterprises(MSEs)using multi-dimensional enterprise data and multi-perspective enterprise *** proposed model includes four main processes:namely encrypted entity alignment,hybrid feature selection,secure multi-party computation,and global model ***,a two-step feature selection algorithm based on wrapper and filter is designed to construct the optimal feature set in multi-source heterogeneous data,which can provide excellent accuracy and *** addition,a local update screening strategy is proposed to select trustworthy model parameters for aggregation each time to ensure the quality of the global *** results of the study show that the model error rate is reduced by 6.22%and the recall rate is improved by 11.03%compared to the algorithms commonly used in credit risk research,significantly improving the ability to identify ***,the business operations of commercial banks are used to confirm the potential of the proposed model for real-world implementation.

Background: In this Innovative Practice Work in Progress, we present our initial efforts to integrate formal methods, with a focus on model-checking specifications written in Temporal Logic of Actions (TLA+), into computer science education, targeting undergraduate juniors/seniors and graduate students. Many safety-critical systems and services crucially depend on correct and reliable behavior. Formal methods can play a key role in ensuring correct and safe system behavior, yet remain underutilized in educational and industry contexts. Aims: We aim to (1) qualitatively assess the state of formal methods in computer science programs, (2) construct level-appropriate examples that could be included midway into one's undergraduate studies, (3) demonstrate how to address successive 'failuresy' through progressively stringent safety and liveness requirements, and (4) establish an ongoing framework for assessing interest and relevance among students. Methods: We detail our pedagogical strategy for embedding TLA+ into an intermediate course on formal methods at our institution. After starting with a refresher on mathematical logic, students specify the rules of simple puzzles in TLA+ and use its included model checker (known as TLC) to find a solution. We gradually escalate to more complex, dynamic, event-driven systems, such as the control logic of a microwave oven, where students will study safety and liveness requirements. We subsequently discuss explicit concurrency, along with thread safety and deadlock avoidance, by modeling bounded counters and buffers. Results: Our initial findings suggest that through careful curricular design and choice of examples and tools, it is possible to inspire and cultivate a new generation of software engineers proficient in formal methods. Conclusions: Our initial efforts suggest that 84% of our students had a positive experience in our formal methods course. Causal relationships are a scientific research method used to describe relationships between variable data, allowing for the excavation of the deep logic and operational mechanisms behind phenomena. The integration of causal relationships as a means of data analysis in the field of power systems improves the accuracy and efficiency of power systems analysis and operation. This paper presents the definition and origin of causal relationships and the principles of main causal analysis models. It overviews the application of causal relationships in power systems fault diagnosis, energy prediction, stability analysis, and the electricity market. Finally, it looks forward to the development prospects of causal relationships in combination with power physics models and artificial intelligence, promoting the construction of a reliable and intelligent new power systems under the penetration of renewable sources. © 2024 IEEE.

Due to the significant increase in data transmission speed and gradual increase in Doppler frequency shift, channel estimation accuracy has become one of the most prioritized considerations in many cases. Specifically, we propose an attention-based channel estimation network with a residual mechanism, named TRCE-Net. In our design, the use of the multi-head attention mechanism at the input of the encoder is to obtain richer feature details. A linear series decoder module is implemented by leveraging multiple residual networks with skip connections. This novel design is capable of improving the channel estimation accuracy after deepening the network while effectively preventing degradation. To lessen the number of parameters that the network needs to learn, we introduce the bi-linear interpolation mechanism to replace the traditional up-sampling layer to mitigate both computational overhead and model complexity. According to the simulation results, our proposed TRCE-Net is superior to other state-of-the-art methods with regard to estimation accuracy and robustness to different maximum Doppler shifts, such as ResNet and InterpolateNet. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
