Question and answer archives have become useful information resources with increase of community based question and answer service. For effective question and answering system, it is important to find semantically similar questions and retrieve its answer from the archive for user's question. In this paper, we propose a weighted combination of retrieval models for question and answer archives. In contrast to well-known translation based language model, the proposed model reflects significance of each word in user's question by giving variant weight to the word depending on its part-of-speech. In experiment, our model improves performance considerably when compared to conventional ones.

Manufacturing scheduling is one of the important and complex combinatorial optimization problems in manufacturing system, where it can have a major impact on the productivity of a production process. Moreover, most of scheduling problems fall into the class of NP-hard combinatorial problems. In this paper, we concern with the design of multiobjective genetic algorithms (MOGAs) to solve a variety of manufacturing scheduling problems. In particularly, the fitness assignment mechanism and evolutionary representations as well as the hybrid evolutionary operations are introduced. Also, several applications of EAs to the different types of manufacturing scheduling problems are illustrated. Through a variety of numerical experiments, the effectiveness of these hybrid genetic algorithms (HGAs) in the widely applications of manufacturing scheduling problems are demonstrated. This paper also summarizes a classification of scheduling problems and the design way of GAs for the different types of manufacturing scheduling problems in which we apply GAs to a multiobjective flexible job-shop scheduling problem (MoFJSP;operation sequencing with resources assignment) and multiobjective assembly line balancing models (MoALB;shipments grouping and assignment). It is useful to guide how to investigate an effective GA for the practical manufacturing scheduling problems. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

The International HapMap Project is a partnership of scientists and funding agencies from different countries to develop a public resource that will help researchers find genes associated with human disease and response to pharmaceuticals. The project has collected large amounts of SNP(single- nucleotide polymorphism) data of individuals of different human populations. Many researchers have revealed evolution information from the SNP data. But how to find all the SNPs related to human evolution is still a hard work. At most time, these SNPs work together which leads to the differences between different human populations. The number of SNP combinations is very large, thus it is impossible to check all the combinations. In this paper, a novel algorithm is proposed to find the SNP combinatorial patterns whose frequencies are quite different in two different populations. The numbers of the multi-SNP combinations are regarded as the differences between each paired human populations, then a hierarchical clustering algorithm is used to construct the evolution trees for human populations. The trees from 4 chromosomes are consistent and the result can be validated by other literatures, which indicates that evolutionary information is well mined. The multi-SNP combinations found by our method can be studied further in many aspects. © 2014 Springer International Publishing Switzerland.

A campus network provides a number of services to its stakeholders. Due to the complexity of having many services, it is often difficult to pinpoint an issue quickly. The currently available tools for monitoring a campus network are often designed for a specific piece of the network. On the other hand, systems administrators running a campus network with data centers and supporting a number of internal and external applications face several challenges with the current set of tools for monitoring and management. To fill this void, we propose the I-CaN-MaMa (Integrated Campus Network Monitoring and Management) framework. Our approach takes an integrated view that was developed in consultations with issues faced by systems administrators. We present the key components in this framework and through a brief study, we show the utility of our approach. © 2014 IEEE.

software process simulation (SPS) has been evolving over the past two decades after being introduced to the software engineering community in the 1980s. At that time the SPS technology attracted a great deal of interest from both academics and practitioners in the software process community—even to the extent of being one of the recommended techniques for achieving multiple Key Process Areas of Level 4 of the Capability Maturity Model Integration. However, in recent years, the growth of SPS seems to have slowed along with the number of reported applications in industry. This article summarizes the special panel that was held during ICSSP 2012 whose goals were to assess whether this technology remains applicable to today's software engineering projects and challenges and to point out the most beneficial opportunities for future research and industry application. Designing applications for scalability is key to improving their performance in hybrid and cluster computing. Scheduling code to utilize parallelism is difficult, particularly when dealing with data dependencies, memory management, data motion, and processor occupancy. The Hybrid Task Graph Scheduler (HTGS) increases programmer productivity when implementing hybrid workflows that scale to multi-core and multi-GPU systems. HTGS manages dependencies between tasks, represents CPU and GPU memories independently, overlaps computations with disk I/O and memory transfers, keeps multiple GPUs occupied, and uses all available compute resources. We present an implementation of hybrid microscopy image stitching using HTGS that reduces code size by ≈ 25% and shows favorable performance compared to a similar hybrid workflow implementation without HTGS. The HTGS-based implementation reuses the computational functions of the hybrid workflow implementation.

In this paper, we focus on AR selection problem of mobile host (MH). A mobile host (MH) may have several available networks when entering a new area. The user of MH decides to use one of access router (AR) at AR list. However, the decision only with the subsystem identification (SSID) and signal strength could not provide appropriate connection to the MH. To provide appropriate connection, more information of AR is needed. In this paper, we extend prefix information option on router advertisement message to obtain AR's status information. Then, we proposed decision engine (DE) on the MH that analyzes ARs and decides the appropriate AR automatically by AR's status information. In experimental analysis, proposed AR discovery process has several advantages. For the MH, wireless connection period is increased, the power consumption is decreased, and the signaling overhead is reduced. For AR and router, the load balancing is provided and the network topology can also be more efficient. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

Reuse is a highly favored concept in software engineering community, but it is the essence of successful software Product Line (SPL) development, which enables the reuse of different types of software artifacts. Focus of this paper is on the reuse of SPL requirements: an ontology-based requirements reuse method is introduced for systematic reuse of product line requirements which is composed of an ontology-based approach for reusable requirements definition and a requirements configuration approach for the reuse of requirements. Evaluation of the introduced approach is performed on fire control software projects and results are discussed.

With the fast emergence of software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Cloud SIP Fire Wall (SFW), new solution is possible to defend SIP DoS attacks in IMS core network, which is impossible in traditional telecomm network through traditional SFW. In this paper, we first analyze the security threats of SIP DoS attacks in the telecomm network. And then based on the analysis, we construct the SIP DoS attack and defense models using queue theory. Further to this, based on the models, we propose an efficient SIP DoS attack defense scheme which is using priority queue and bandwidth control method. At last, simulation was taken to analyze and verify how our defense scheme improves the performance of cloud SFW and saves bandwidth during SIP DoS attack.
