Sign Language Recognition (SLR) is the process of translating sign language into text or speech, which can also be viewed as a communication and expression tool between deaf individuals and hearing people. SLR using deep neural network has undergone significant development over the last decade. In this study, we design a feature-enhanced SLR technique based on serval spaces. To aid the network learning features from channel and spatial dimensions, we inject various attention mechanisms into the feature extractor backbone. As a result, we named our approach ResNet + Pyramid-Split-Attention + Recurrent-Criss-Cross-Attention + BiLSTM Network (RPRB-Net). Besides, we employ the BiLSTM architecture to encode high-level representations in temporal sequence. The network is ultimately trained using an end-to-end CTC alignment strategy. Extensive trials show that RPRB-Net achieves WERs of 3.5% and 23.6% on the USTC and RWTH-2014 datasets, respectively. Besides, it implies that RPRB-Net significantly surpasses the cutting-edge SLR approaches. Additionally, numerous ablation experiments have confirmed the efficiency of configuration. © 2023 IEEE.

In zero-shot cross-lingual event argument extraction(EAE) task, a model is typically trained on source language datasets and then applied on task language datasets. There is a trend to regard the zero-shot cross-lingual EAE task as a sequence generation task with manual prompts or discrete prompts. However, there are some problems with these prompts, including using suboptimal prompts and difficult to transfer from source language to target language. To overcome these issues, we propose a method called SPTEAE(A Soft Prompt Transfer model for zero-shot cross-lingual Event Argument Extraction). SPTEAE utilizes a sequence of tunable vectors which are tuned in source language as event type prompts. These source language event type prompts can be transferred as target prompts to perform target EAE task by key-value selection mechanism. For each event type, SPTEAE learns a special target prompt by attending to highly relevant source prompts. Experiment results show that the average performance of SPTEAE with soft prompt transfer is 2.6% higher than the current state-of-the-art model on the ACE2005 dataset. © 2023 IEEE.

Accurate identification of late mechanical activation (LMA) regions is crucial for optimal cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) lead implantation. However, existing approaches using cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging often over-look myocardial scar information, which may be mistakenly identified as delayed activation regions. To address this issue, we propose a scar-aware LMA detection network that simultaneously detects myocardial scar and prevents LMA localization in these scarred regions. More specifically, our model integrates a pre-trained scar segmentation network using late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) CMRs into a LMA detection network based on highly accurate strain derived from displacement encoding with stimulated echoes (DENSE) CMRs. We introduce a novel scar-aware loss function that utilizes the segmented scar information to discourage false-positive detections of late activated areas. Our model can be trained with or without paired LGE data. During inference, our model does not require the input of LGE images, leveraging learned patterns from strain data alone to mitigate false-positive LMA detection in potential scar regions. We evaluate our model on subjects with and without myocardial scar, demonstrating significantly improved LMA detection accuracy in both scenarios. Our work paves the way for improved CRT planning, potentially leading to better patient outcomes. © 2025 IEEE.

Feedback-based methods combining proportional-integral and/or resonant controllers are the most common option for Active Power Filter (APF) control. Alternatively to classical feedback-based control, state-feedback current control could be used, potentially enabling better dynamic performance. State-feedback current control has been previously proposed for grid-connected converters;however, reference tracking response of multiple harmonic components of the controlled current has not been reported. This is highly relevant to comply with grid codes. This paper analyses the design and implementation of state-feedback current control for harmonic current compensation in APFs. © 2024 IEEE.

Real-time mapping of the surroundings plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success of autonomous vehicles. Among the technologies showing promise for depth mapping is Single Photon Light Detection and Ranging (SPL) which offers impressive long-range capabilities, superior depth resolution, and energy-efficient laser sources. However, the adoption of high-resolution, high frame-rate SPL systems results in significant data volumes, often reaching several Gbit/s. This creates a throughput bottleneck that impedes real-time applications and necessitates the development of effective compression schemes. This paper addresses the challenges associated with SPL compression and provides a comprehensive overview of recent advancements in this domain. The review encompasses various compression methods, including algorithmic and/or hardware-based approaches, spatial and/or temporal compression techniques. We also discuss future directions, such as integrating deep learning and fusion techniques with other sensing modalities. © 2023 IEEE.

Paddy cultivation is a significant global economic sector, with rice production playing a crucial role in influencing worldwide economies. However, insects in paddy farms predominantly impact the growth rate and ecological equilibrium of the agricultural field. Hence, the precise and timely identification of insects in agricultural settings presents a potential strategy for addressing this issue. This study aims to implement an automated system for paddy farming by employing a real-time framework that incorporates the Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain technology, and Deep Learning (DL) algorithms. The primary emphasis of the DL-based system is on the timely identification of pests. In contrast, integrating the IoT and blockchain technologies facilitates stablishing a fully automated system with security within the agricultural domain. The DL-based system includes a secondary dataset of paddy insects, and then preprocessing, feature extraction, and identification have been performed. Besides, an IoT-based system is embodied with a camera module and microprocessor, accompanied by some apparatus required to automate the whole system. In addition, the research also includes the blockchain to secure each individual data transmission among the several IoT components and the cloud server. While examining the proposed solution, various experimental data have been systematically documented and analyzed. The proposed framework attained a peak accuracy of 98.91% using the VGG19 model and ensemble classifiers to detect the pest with a specificity of 99.14% and a precision of 98.21%. The study additionally quantifies the mean duration of the cloud response when integrated with IoT, yielding an average time of 1.71 s after pest identification. Nevertheless, the system has exhibited a high level of efficacy in the context of real-time monitoring and automation of paddy farms. © 2020 IEEE.

In recent years, the global repercussions of SARS-CoV-2 and its variants have posed significant challenges to various areas, including the economic order, transportation, healthcare, and education, and the mitigation and prevention of SARS-CoV-2 and other infectious diseases have received much attention. This paper tries to develop a rational and effective intervention strategy in response to the dynamic evolution of the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic. To address this issue, we first use the SEIR model to analyze the population distribution under the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic, and then integrate a deep Q-neural network (DQN) to reflect an economic quantification model contextualized within the SARS-CoV-2 scenario. Next, we propose an evolutionary deep reinforcement learning to generate an optimal and adaptive intervention strategy, by optimizing the weight sequence of the DQN. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method in maximizing economic benefits, while ensuring the uninterrupted functionality of medical institutions. Importantly, the learned intervention strategy exhibits the applicability to other infectious diseases. © 2024 IEEE.
